I feel like Chen shi will be the one closest to Li Bing, something about his kind naive self that softens LB.…
I think so, too. He already seems to be attached to his kind and caring nature, and he sees the potential in him and has the patience to teach him about the court and the world in general.
I did not expect such an emphasis on comedy/slapstick, though I should have guessed it from the trailer. My bad. π I love how every character has their own little quirks and way of talking that make them immediately distinguishable, even though the drama throws so many characters at us at once. I've also quickly developed a soft spot for Cui Bei and his (apparently) legendary bad luck. πβ€
Maybe. We'll have to see. There have been character (name) changes and plot changes, but we'll only know how many connections to The Lost Tomb actually remain once this gets aired. Anyhing else is just speculation at this stage.
Okay, so we're left with a bunch of new questions and story options after this movie. I absolutely loved the horror vibes, I think they suit this franchise very well. (They always have, but I feel like they've been especially strong in these two movies.) I have to admit, I liked Wu Xie more in this one than in the first movie. Jing Yanjun seems to get a better feeling for the character and didn't come across as cold/distant as he did last time. And poor Xiaoge - forever guessing what his past self was trying to achieve. π But Xiao Hua showing off once again how filthy rich he is and also owning an escape room was so effing hilarious to me. π I wonder when he'll finally appear in this series (? since I guess this is going to be a movie series).
As for the rest:If this drama really has nothing to do with the Zhang family and their greatest secret, I'd honestly…
True. They'd be definitely missing out on the opportunity to both tell a really interesting story within that era and universe AND make the DMBJ fans happy. ;)
Me, too. Still hoping to see Xiao Yuliang back in that role some day, he was just perfect as Xiaoge.
Since Wang Zanghai's story is closely related to the Zhang clan, I'm hoping we'll get to see at least a few Zhangs in that drama. They could be also in disguise or act under another name, which would make sense since the Zhangs are such a secretive family. But those are just my hopes and speculations. π

Haha, me too. WWX and LWJ had a dynamic that was very similar to that of Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling, so XZ and WYB would have been perfect in these roles.
I just watched the scene in episode 16 with both of them having a drink together and then fighting afterwards…
I think they did a pretty decent job when they were working together again, but it was very noticeable who was the brains behind it all. π Same here!
At times I feel like shipping Cheng Bing with Pan Dahai π€£ especially on Ep 16.
I just watched the scene in episode 16 with both of them having a drink together and then fighting afterwards (which was heartbreaking to watch), and wow, yes, I know absolutely what you mean. π
His official already said the day before yesterday he has nothing to do with either the drama or the promotion…
I was actually super excited of the possibility of a historical prequel to the The Lost Tomb series. I think a lot of the DMBJ fans were when this drama was announced back then (waaaaaaay back, when it was still called Tibetan Sea Opera). The Lost Tomb only deals with the aftermath of the impact these people had on history, but seeing their actual lives and hardships would be really amazing.
So that's why I'm hoping there'll be some connection to that universe. Anyway, we'll find out at some point, I'm sure.
This gives me such GreedFall vibes, except it's darker. Maybe it's the fancy European hats? Love Chu Sijing and Angelica so far, their alliance is interesting. The teenage actors are also pretty good. :)

Oh. No, I'm not arguing that any longer, especially when there are sources saying otherwise.
Ah, I see. It's not just the name thing, though. The lore behind this is really complex and there are countless ways in which it could be potentially included. I'm just curious to see if and how.

What is this supposed to prove? I'm honestly confused here. I thought we had already established that Xu Lei is not involved. However, we still don't know how much of the DMBJ lore will be of importance to the drama β and we won't know that for sure until the drama is actually out. So arguing about this is still pretty much pointless.

But seriously, their relationship is one of my favorite ones in this drama.
