Nostalgia, youth and love
Note: this made me ugly cry. What can I say, I love me a sad ending.Favourite quotes:
In 1998, the year when the whole world was shaken, twenty-two and eighteen met. The two called each other by their first names.
They became twenty-three and nineteen, and the two depended on them.
It became twenty-four and twenty, and both
of them were hurt.
When they were twenty-five and twenty-one,
they fell in love.
You always lead me to do what’s right and to a good place. That’s my definition of our relationship. Also known as a rainbow.
… love. It’s love. I love you, Na Hee-Do. I don’t need a rainbow.
Rowdy friendship and passionate love are brief moments that make your long life shine.
Whether it was because he was running or because he was excited, he was out of breath. The wind blew and the green leaves rubbed against the body. It was the middle of summer.
Everyone has a first time. Since today is the first time, I will be clumsy until today.
From now on, when you hang out with me, you can become happy and keep it a secret. When it’s just us two, let’s be happy when we’re together.
Our friendships are always excessive, we’re helpless in the face of love, and our failures are passionate. Anxiety, grief, jokes, and smiles come together to form a strange and irregular shape. Perhaps we’re currently standing at the center of our youths.

Pretending to be strong, and failing brilliantly
I laughed so hard in the first half, and cried mostly for the second. Three times. Four. There are few dramas in which multiple to all of the characters are likeable. This is that one. This is for you, if you’re weird and like weird people.
And It is genuinely funny too, at least to me, makes me laugh for real. The comedic moments don’t feel forced, like they aren’t trying to make you laugh, but the things the characters do and say feel true to them as people. Love the overall vibe and the plot, soundtrack, the character dynamics.
I mean.. how are they able to make so many main
characters, even the supporting characters so real? Without too much information about someone I don’t really care about. Like; just enough. So that I actually kind of begin to care instead.
Maybe it is seeing them at home—even if just for a moment, when they’re alone, when they are with those they feel safe around, and those they don’t. The contrasts and different dynamics in which they are written true to their characters.
So simple, yet so impactful. While it is funny and quirky, there are moments that can feel excruciatingly real and relatable, like a punch to the gut when you least expect it.
It is far from the “best” drama I have watched, but it kind of sneaks up on you.
Favourite quotes:
Do you know why the city is lonely? Because the lights of the buildings take the place of the stars. And because the people of that galaxy don’t know I exist.
So what? Just hang on there. Whatever you do, just hang on and survive. Look at me, look at how amazing and wonderful I am at surviving all these years.
Well, I guess we don’t have much to say, but how about being curious about me from time to time?
You can still fix all the problems you are experiencing as you love someone. However, you cannot fix the other person, you must fix yourself. That is the only way it is possible. If it’s too late, you are only left with regret and the opportunity never returns. Learning this lesson as soon as possible is key.

Four unconventional wholes, being clumsily vulnerable with each other
Two sisters, identical from head to toe, leading completely opposite lives. My only critique of this drama is that I wish it was longer, giving more time to explore certain things in just a little more depth.
I find it interesting how two people of the same age, who look and sound the same, grew up under the same roof, surrounded by the same people, how they can turn out so different from each other, and walk such different paths in life. It’s fascinating to think about.
A big thing with this drama is that there are no real villains, rotten to the core. I didn’t hate or even really dislike any of the characters. Everyone made mistakes, someone could do or say something I disliked, but they were all human. No one means to be cruel, and when they realise that, they try to do better. Isn’t that what we all strive for, to be better It’s just that often we don’t know how, and we lack the courage to ask for help, or are unable to find the words.
Favourite quotes:
The first twin would be Mi-Ji, meaning unknown. The second would be Mi-rae, meaning future. But the first one needed a future more than her sister. So the older sister was named Mi-rae. As for me, I just got the name that was left.
Was this thrown away because it deflated? Or did it deflate because it was thrown away? Am I living like this because of the way I am? Or am I like this because of the way I live?
Nothing happened but so much has happened all
these years to even process it. To have only lived
in my mind and nowhere else but only the idea of the world.
I am not who I used to be and I am not who I want to become I am just stuck.
What makes a person human
Is love, pressed down just a little
Pressed a little
From above, below, and the sides
Like freshly packed rice in a bowl
Like an eraser worn down
From choosing kind words
So that the warmth shared
Between two embraced bodies
Won’t escape
Won’t disappear
And will become human

A subtle, yet intimate love story
There's something so intimate about two people in a bedroom, in the middle of the night, and just talking. The bedside lamp casting a warm thread of light across their faces . How dark their eyes turn, as if they can’t see, while at the same time they’re more honest than usual.I am obsessed with a blurred line between platonic and romantic love. When they are important to you in a multifaceted way. Covering up your feelings with another kind of love that is just as true. One type of love does not negate the other.
The drama has many good breathing moments, avoiding being overly dramatic. You don’t get exhausted from constantly being on the edge of your seat.
For the cons, I found the side plots unnecessary. I don’t care about this student who doesn’t even have a relationship with any of the main characters, I don’t care about these teachers. Although the parents’s decisions and feelings might affect the main characters, it still felt too much. Nor do I care for the sports day event. With all these things going on, I’m surprised we still got to see the main characters together that much. Still, I wanted to see more of just the two of them.
It feels weird calling it a romance when there are no romantic moments until the end. There are plenty of beautiful and precious moments, but they didn’t feel romantic, which makes me wonder if they even developed those kinds of feelings for each other yet. Maybe they did but were unaware of it. Well, I’m unaware too.
The wisdom and poetry woven into the narration and dialogue. I love how it’s packed with these subtle details.
Their whole relationship is just so wholesome. The way Jiang Tian silently looks out for and takes care of Sheng Wang, with no questions asked. And Sheng Wang moving into the dorms with Jiang Tian so that he can have a place that feels like home. Like, why are they doing this? But at the same time, isn’t it beautiful. It’s really interesting how different they first seemed from one another, but still empathise with each other and comfort each other.
Favourite quotes:
Hey, do you remember the story our old Chinese teacher told us before? It was about a little boy who was also making a schedule. He started it during the summer vacation. Year by year, he carried on, from childhood to adulthood.
But why did he end up crying?
Because he wrote his entire life in that planner. Everything was in the plan. But real life… isn’t about theorising on paper… Don’t live your youth with regrets.
If there’s only one person in the world who understands you, then he’s more important than anyone else. I only know people do what they do at a certain age. When it’s time to be a little crazy, don’t hold back. You’ve got decades ahead to be cautious and hesitant. What’s the rush?
Isn’t there a saying that when you no longer exchange pleasantries with someone and can share troubles and honors with an ease of heart, … it means you are friends?
As the saying goes, lie down where you fall. Let’s rest here for a while. What are you going to do? Might as well lie down here for a bit. Keep me company for a while.
He is like a tree, not knowing anything about joy or sorrow. Half of it rests peacefully in the dust, half soars in the wind, half scatters in the shade, and half bathes in the sunshine. He is utterly silent, and extremely proud. He never relies on anyone, and never seeks.
Humans have fortune and calamity, just like the moon waxes and wanes.
The moon is far and can't be held, yet the sixpence is close and can be held. The moon would take time to get to, but the sixpence is within reach. The moon is a thought since it holds no value that can be seen, but the sixpence is money that can be used! And that's why the moon is love.
