So continuing from the conversation of Hijiri and her friend, after saying that she understands this is wrong…
Kuroiwa spots her and asks her what she is doing there saying that it's dangerous. Later he offers her his shoe. The real reason he wanted to meet her was to know Hijiri's feelings clearly as he tells her. And Hijiri keeps avoiding the question by giving reasons like she has a great fiance and that she is the one who is unfit for him. Kuroiwa is like I know all these facts. But I am fine with the current you just the way you are. So she dejectedly says that nothing is going to come out of this. Kuroiwa gets desperate and asks that 'just for today, stay with me and then I will give up on you'. She asks him "do what together?"and he says, he wants to be kind to her , forget about the teacher-student thing, or her fiance and he just wants to get to know her. So Hijiri says, if we do that, then the love will grow even more. So, he protests that that's fine, he doesn't want to forget her then and tries to stop her as she is walking away. But she dejectedly sits on the sand. She is too overwhelmed with emotions and sadness and says, don't call me 'Sensei', I don't have the qualification to be called that. And then he gets very sad and confused that she is refusing to convey her feelings and wonders if all this is becoming too much. In the end, he gives up and just asks her, what does she want to do? and as she is crying. she says she wants to go home. Then , he says that 'honestly, me too'. and gives her a hand and pulls her up. He daringly kisses her. And as soon as they part their lips he says 'is it okay to do it one more time' and surprised that Hijiri is with the sudden kiss, she feebly protests that 'Kuroiwa-kun...actually...............'and gauging that she is again going to worry about others he says that he doesn't care what the world thinks about them and that he just loves her. And swoops in for another kiss. This time Hijiri closes her eyes and accepts it. And then, he hugs her. Later, he is dropping her off and wonders to himself that he felt happy to have spent some time with her and relieve the pain. He also holds her hand in the car and even when they get off he takes her hand. She does clasp her fingers around his. But they are greeted by Shotaro first and then Kuroiwa's mother.
So continuing from the conversation of Hijiri and her friend, after saying that she understands this is wrong , Hijiri tells her friend that there is nothing to worry, she will handle it. But in her heart she knows that she is in deeper trouble with related to her feelings for Kuroiwa.
She is determined to make it as look as normal as possible and all bubbly. It is also going to be summer vacation so she is kidding herself that the distance is going to be good for both of them. There is also famous fireworks festival in that town that everyone looks forward to.
Meanwhile, Kuroiwa is miserable and desperate with all the memories of Hijiri that keep haunting him. He sees a little hope with the summer firework festival. And looks forward to it.
Kuroiwa's mother comes to meet Hijiri, She tells that she is very worried from what Iwasaki told her but rubs out her doubts saying that probably Iwasaki is just sore over not gaining Akira's attention. So she asks Hijiri to be very careful about her appearance and so on. While leaving Kuroiwa's mother still ponders whether all is really not as weird as Iwasaki said.
Hijiri is excited about the festival and checks out the videos of the fireworks and is bogged down by memories of Kuroiwa. But buries them by resorting to messaging Shotaro, asking him about his plans for the Summer festival week. She asks if she can come over. But he unfortunately has to go on a business trip to Singapore. Hence, she doesn't have any option but to be alone that week. She buries herself in school admin work and checks out wedding related stuff in magazines. She is more like forcing herself to be excited in all this turmoil that her heart is in.
Kuroiwa on the other end is looking for opportunities to catch a glimpse of her. She is pretty inaccessible because of summer vacations so they almost have no contact with each other.
While doing admin work, the teachers are discussing amongst themselves about the fireworks festival and how they have to go for volunteer work. The head teacher is about to bore Hijiri with her stories when other teachers quickly pull her away and give her the tasks of collecting signs on piece of receipt. (I am not very clear about that though it looked like a consent form of some type). Hijiri spots that Kuroiwa's is also pending and goes to his house. Here, she only wishes to have that paper signed by his mother and leave immediately but somewhere in her heart she has this false hope of catching up with him. So just when she is about to leave after collecting the sign , Kuroiwa walks in. Seeing her leaving already he desperately asks her if they could talk about high school discussion that has been pending. And so they start with the conversation. Hijiri is trying to be as professional as possible here by giving him genuine advice like how he can start thinking about what he really wants to do in future, what kind of individual he wants to be and then may be it will get a bit easier to shortlist. Kuroiwa is not really into the conversation. And his mothers doubts his seriousness as well. Hijiri concludes it with he can take his time and think over the summer vacation. Kuroiwa's mother just then receives a call and has to go out. Hijiri and Akira are stuck in awkward silence. Hijiri gets up to leave and Kuroiwa grabs her hand and asks her about the firework festival. He is desperate and doesn't quite complete the sentence. He is just like "after the fireworks end, (be) with me"....". Since, they hear his mother finish up the call they quickly sober up and she leaves. Both sort of lost in thoughts. Kuroiwa's mother notices change in his behavior towards Hijiri.
Kuroiwa is his usual confused and depressed in school. Iwasaki gets an idea. She offers to give him her cellphone number in return to him accompanying her to the fireworks festival. He agrees. After much pondering at home, he texts Hijiri that on the day of fireworks festival , after it ends, he will be waiting for her at the shrine. Hijiri is taken aback to receive this message but chooses not to reply to him. She also plans to throw away Kuroiwa's headband that she had stored away in her closet.
Haraguchi and Shotaro on their business trip are discussing things related to Shotaro's relationship and their kiss the other day. Shatoro is still like he is not sure if Hijiri is being loyal or not..but he doesn't entertain Haraguchi's advances although he does feel attracted. And Haraguchi is all out on attack mode saying 'Once you are sure , come to me'. Shotaro is really confused and doubting Hijiri but isn't quite able to start the discussion while video chatting with her. Hijiri is meanwhile, talking all about the fireworks festival- how she is going to accompany the other teachers in their volunteer work there.
On the day of the festival, Kuroiwa is still waiting for Hijiri's reply. Jofu-san comes in and has a little interesting chat with him. Jofu - san tells Kuroiwa that this summer vacation its gonna be good for him if he doesn't meet Hijiri. Kuroiwa is irritated that why is everyone talking in the same manner. So Jofu-san explains that its because they are teacher and student and so it is not allowed. Kuroiwa is like this stuff is not related to him. But Jofu says its a rule. Kuroiwa says that that rule doesn't apply to him and Jofu replies that it doesn't apply to Akira but it applies to Hijiri.
At the festival, Kuroiwa is with Iwasaki all the time looking around for Hijiri. Hijiri comes there along with other teachers. Hijiri and another teacher with her, spot Kuroiwa and Iwasaki and Hijiri is visibly jealous. and saddened. But decides to suppress her feelings and they both go about their work. Kuroiwa is participating in games and is also good at them.
Meanwhile , after wrapping up their Singapore business trip , Haraguchi suggests that she and Shotaro go to the firework festival in Hijiri's town without letting her know. When they arrive at the festival, Shotaro is busy looking for Hijiri and spots her with other teacher going about her business. He is super relieved and decides to only let her know about his coming there later on as a surprise and she is currently anyways working. They go about enjoying the festival in their own possible means.
As the night falls, fireworks splendor starts. Kuroiwa is sitting with Iwasaki. He confides in her that he likes Hijiri afterall and no one else. Iwasaki, persistent that she is, kisses him on the cheek and Hijiri happens to spot them. She is stunned. Following that Iwasaki also hugs Kuroiwa and while he is confused and unable to react, he spots Hijiri watching them. And quickly pulls away from Iwasaki and pushes her down. Hijiri runs away from the scene. And Kuroiwa runs behind her. But she is lost in the crowd and Haraguchi grabs her. She tells her that she and Shotaro have come here at the festival. She bluntly asks her whether she really loves Shotaro. Hijiri is taken aback by the sudden question and tells her that it is obvious since they are getting married. Haraguchi still goes on ask if Hijiri really likes Shotaro above everyone else, and Hijiri falters and tells her that it is rude of her to ask such things. She is also saved by another teacher beckoning her at that very moment. So they part. Kuroiwa meanwhile waits at the shrine. Kuroiwa's mother checks his phone that he has forgotten back home and sees the message he had sent Hijiri.
Hijiri meanwhile is sitting in the bus on the way home. Just when the bus is leaving she spots Iwasaki coming out alone. Hijiri is now super conflicted. After going a short while in the bus, she halts it to get off and goes to the shrine, only to find Kuroiwa missing. Soon , Kuroiwa's mother also reaches the shrine and sees no one there. Hijiri is then strolling on the beach nearby cleaning her shoe in the sea water. She looks very pitiful over giving in to her feelings.
Yeah, I did see the degraded version on YouTube. And still found it very beautiful and deeply moving. Feeling very sorry for Akira and Hijiri. Very heartbreaking but the next episode onwards it will be pure gold.
I totally think he hunts Suenaga down again despite his words. That is also what happens in the manga so I guess its safe to say that. And again when he finds out she is not married yet, he is going to pursue her crazily again and this time he is also an adult.
I so don't want to see him kiss Iwasaki :(.... that is pretty depressing although I know that he is not going to be over Hijiri. Still.....why Iwasaki.....
This show is bad for my heart. The raw uploads are slow so I thought; great chance, I can just wait for now and…
I so wished we could skip to episode 6 directly. I am happy with the preview of ep 5 and know its all going downhill and there's gonna be no mercy for my poor heart. So , the only thing I looked forward to in ep 5 was the preview of ep 6 and now that I saw that , i want to curl up in my bed until next tuesday.
Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh ....so from the cuts everything goes downhill as expected . Everything that you expected from the preview of ep 5 happens and ends with Kuroiwa now 18 years old. And Kuroiwa looks great and grown up with short hair(he looked great before as well but now he looks stud to be honest. Before it was more like an irresistible puppy now an even more irresistible stud). The real wait starts now for the sixth episode. This week is going to be painful!!!
this piano cover is sickhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr-JT0ufGCo
I came across it last week and blown away by how perfect it was..Thanks to the Japanese fans i now have the bgm pieces. Normally i go through the process of trimming videos and extracting music. This was savior and hats off to the artist.
Some of the events are the same like Hijiri picking up Akira when he was riding his bike, and him getting hurt…
I didn't like the part where he starts dating Runa. Hopefully they don't show them dating in the drama. I hate her character although pretty realistic. But she's too shallow for me to like her.

P.S. I do plan to write recaps of all the episodes sometime later.
