i think the pale skin correlates with his role in this because hes suppose to be a 9 tailed fox...an "evil mystical creature" that takes the form of humans. and similar to what the person said above it gives off a more intimidating and eerie vibe to him =)
but also he in general has paler skin tone usually. Whether he prefers to be that or not is another story, a lot of korean makeup and foundation are usually lighter than their actual skin tones & has brightening effects that lighten the skin.

YEA!!! my thoughts exactly, when i saw so many high reviews I was questioning myself cause Im like...is no one else seeing or bothered by these things like I am?? its not even just a few scenes and then they redeem themselves...the whole show is toxic....

I completely agree with your unpopular opinion! I actually watched this awhile back because of how loved MaxTul was andd this show...but I was hugely disappointed by the end...They had AMAZINGGG chemistry like woww but storywise.....yikessss.....like the beginning started off ok, and then it just went downhill sooo fast...SOOO MANY ISSUES JEEZUS....I loveddd Yihwa and Fai!!! They were my favorites and probably were the only reason that got me through this drama...Plern really was sooo manipulative....and the fact that Knock couldnt even see that?? Like what?? how are you that blind...in the beginning I felt bad for her (like super very beginning when she went to visit him the first time) because im like dang...she seems nice too baddd Knock is gonna go to Korn eventually...but after seeing her true colors I kept getting sooo frustrated how she was getting away with everything. Like girl....just because you apparently "love" him and want to possess him doesnt mean you can control him and the people around him?? you cant control the heart...if his feelings start to shift and doesnt love you...then you MOVE ON!!
The biggest issue I had with this show was how toxic all these relationships were and the inconsideration of peoples feelings and emotions in general! Plern with Knock....she just wanted what was best for her and her image...like she cared more about how others viewed her and this popular glamour life than her actual bf?? and even if she saw he wasnt happy and his feelings were shifting towards Korn, she just forced him to stay with her because if he "was gay" that would be a sin and he cant do that....he just cant break up with her because that would break her heart and she wont allow him to....How manipulative?? making him feel like the bad guy....so that he wont break up with her...MEANWHILEEEEE he is toying with Korns feelings?? like hes not even really allowing him to move on in the sense and giving him hope throughout this ENTIRE series...and they kissed and had sex multiple times....you cant just play with ppl like that because you are curious and want to see your feelings...and then change your mind and back out....and with Farm & Bright....their whole "relationship" was disgusting firstly Bright IS SOO FREAKING OLDDD compared to Farm that alone rubbed me the wrong way....and then Bright being manipulative and telling Farm he needs to accept the way he is...otherwise they cant see each other...the poor kid...Farm doesnt know any better and he just went along getting his heart broken time and time again...He was naive and an idiot i have to say; and had the WORST character development in the show.....

Yea I think we got to see the two sides of acceptance, where Ko was accepted for who she is and all her flaws and in turn allowed Gang Tae to really express himself...Allow him to be selfish and to feel freedom even for a short while. She needed to be accepted and he needed to learn how to accept himself for who he is, and really see who he is!! Like you said its easier to fall for someone when you feel comfortable and able to be accepted for who you are!

Its interesting that idea of him being saved and running away from the girl he had a crush on stayed with him because he also battles with wishing he had died that day so he wouldnt have to live the life he was living. Maybe because he felt like that and battled with being thankful that someone saved him but also in the back of his mind wishing he wasnt, made that memory even stronger - in turn making that "love" stronger without him realizing??

thank you for your comment. Slow paced dramas are a hit or miss for me it just depends on the story, I could only watch about 2 episodes each night as well, because it was a lot but also the pacing was a killer for me ><
But yea I really liked Gang-tae's character overall; i just kinda hate when characters become "blind by love" and do irrational stuff....especially when they are usually a more logical person. it happens all to often LOL, i mean I know its a thing that happens in real life...but its just something that bothers me.... but I think out of everyone we as the audience could relate to him the most easiest (not saying that many of us go through what he has went through) but his storyline i think is the easiest to empathize with because we see all the sacrifices hes had to make his whole life...hes not even his own individual and like you said he doesnt really have a goal nor a dream because he never got the chance to really go after it or think about it...I think many of us can relate this idea (whether its financial situations or other circumstances or even the most simplest...just not even knowing what you want from life, your purpose) and also the areas where he was feeling suffocated...where hed rather die than live in a "dead body" i think many of us go through those stages where we are alive but not living....
Actually you bring up a great point about the friend, i remember questioning what did Gang-tae do in order for him to be so loyal to him and follow him. They briefly touched upon the story of how they met...but it never was fully fleshed out...

that makes sense!!! im like that too like I need to be in the right mood in general to watch certain dramas/genres...and sometimes im just not in it...especially for more slow burning dramas I need to watch an action or thriller drama right after just to pick up my mood!! if you want you can always come back to this drama if needed when you are in the right "wave/mood" for this type of genre/storyline and see if you end up enjoying it more =)
