can't help but love the scene when YT outwits JJ when meeting her parents. It was real payback. hahaha. Another great visuals when both of them did the runway walk like super models at the carpark after YT had a makeover. Sister Ling was getting the feels of a super agent for the 2 mega stars.
Yes agreed, And both YY and Reba got due recognition for their performances in this drama. Yes definitely a success for both actors and YAMG production.
just came across a Chinese article which mentioned that YAMG - roughly translate in my limited understanding of the language -is probably the only drama in recent years that faced an onslaught of black fan wars before it even hit the screen and if they are not careful it will be disastrous for the entire team - from casts to crew. The following text - extracted from the article and google translated from Chinese to English so it may not be fluent: In fact, "You Are My Glory" not only withstood the pressure, but also fought a beautiful turnaround. The single-day viewing volume exceeded 200 million, the Douban score was as high as 6.9, and the video playback click rate exceeded 2 billion. Not only that, even the entertainment hot search lists are all related topic words of "You are my glory", such as "You are my glory 90s kiss scene", "Yang Yang is a good meeting", "38 years old on the way", "Yang Yang" Wear glasses, good Su" and so on, once dominated the screen This one I think refers to the chemistry of the leads: People in the industry often say that there will always be new sparks in the play between good actors, and the tacit cooperation between the roles will also present new surprises. So yeah, I consider this a success though viewership count locally may not be as high as one hope
I feel the same way that you do, that QJJ should have kept YT dangling longer. As they say, payback time!! But,…
I am back at the novel at chapter 35 and I understand better now why JJ did not let YT suffer a bit longer - the fact that he took the trip back to Shanghai to drive her back to her hometown and along the way he revealed his feelings for her and to top it all at the KTV where he professed his love for her in the presence of their classmates -YT is supposed to be super cool aloof guy for him to do that is really something. And to thicken the plot may become too draggy in a drama.
Hi I can't remember but correct me if I am wrong. With TLB the douban rating site did a lot of damage but TLB managed to overcome the onslaught and finally ended with 3.2B views even though it ends. Fans of TLB did a fantastic job to up the viewership count even after it ends. A Chinese article published that TLB scored riveting success overseas with high ratings and this helped a to a certain extent. For YAMG I think fans of this drama can continue to maintain its rating( though we can't rate on douban site), continue to rewatch cos it will raise viewership counts before end august. This site has many positive feedback on this drama which genuinely showcase the success of YAMG and I am one optimistic happy camper that viewership continues to rise even after it ends.
Even better than the hot, sexy af kisses are the other subtle little things that make this OTP/CP look and feel…
several scenes with humour and battle of wits - JJ ended up spending the night in YT's house, meeting the parents and finally YT wins hands down against the buffet guy with just the internet. How can go without gourmet food but not with internet.
Hands down this drama beat k-drama Descendants of the Sun and Crash Landing - couple of check list 1) visuals of both YY and Reba 2)big sizzling romance which I attribute to electrifying chemistry between the leads - sometimes you watch a drama you know it's a drama but the 2 leads romance starting from ep 20 onwards are so believably real.. at least to me. No wonder the YANGDI cp ranks high. 3) Cinematography 4) story line which incorporates a bit of everything from gaming to aerospace to ordinary folks to celebrities they deserve more than a 9 rating to me.
In YAMG QJJ is my fav character and Reba nailed this role perfectly. There were comments before the drama starts that the FL should be someone else younger and there were others who wants to see the same FL from the first drama. So it boils down to really preferences someone like it fast rom com. I followed Reba from TLB and now YAMG. She was fantastic in TLB and for those who followed TLB episodes 13 and 14 was the most beautiful, tragically emotional scenes for me. You can identify with the nuance of facial emotions .. that was absolute class acting. Maybe Chinese netizens favour historical dramas which tend to appeal across the ages. YAMG audience should be in the age range of 20s-40s I guess. Some tv productions cast their nets wide like putting their dramas on many platforms. I don't know how Tencent does its marketing though.
