update: just finished ep9, and ppl were too dramatic. i liked the episode, wee need that drama to make the story more intriguing. hui ju kneeling was unexpected, don’t know how i feel about that, but the episode as a whole wasn’t bad at all. i hope they resolve the main leads’ dilemma quickly though (meaning, early on in ep10)🤣🤏🏼

one thing about the editing that takes me out is when we fade in and out of consciousness, it's too funny😭

having a concubine isn’t the problem here, that was the norm back then. but to act like he isn’t leeching off of his wife and to say she’s a money hungry merchant while he lives in comfort BECAUSE of that money… the whole gu family is cartoonishly evil and dumb tbh. they’re walking contradictions and full of undeserved entitlement.

ep14 and concubine song telling gu lan that being a poor man's wife is better than a rich man's concubine as if gu de zhao didn't live on his main wife's money all this time. he wasn't even rich to begin with😑 they are shameless

it’s especially annoying because they’re not even making any sense. all their life, they were living pampered and without pushback but god forbid the female lead now holds everyone accountable🙏🏼😒

i think the most annoying thing about concubine song and gu lan is that they're not even that smart or good at scheming. they're petty and annoying and so far they get away with it... ep 13 is infuriating

i might actually enjoy the angst as the plot thickens - i think that's what might have been missing for me all along despite this being a romcom. i'm looking forward to how they handle everything in ep9🥹😀😀

i really liked ep7&8 - they were the best episodes so far - but now i’m worried about ep9 because no one really liked that one😄❓

you know, ye xian and gu lan are actually perfect for one another. both love to jump to conclusions and act impulsively like idiots because of their "crush"
