Hello. I am here for a visit. Haven't found anything that captivated much as this show. I assume you finished…
i will try to finish it this week though! i have quite some time to spear, and i'm excited to see the leads again. i'm currently working of making some progress in >new life begins< :)
i need to add my two cents without even having seen the scene i'm goin to talk about.
from a clip i have seen my girl gil chae will be harming herself and get a cut on her face in order to save herself from the enemy and becoming a sex object for his pleasure (i assume?), and i would like to say that (imo it's quite obvious) it further highlights the female lead's character development.
we meet gil chae in part 1 as this slightly narcissistic girl, self-centered and very confident in her looks. she has the validation of her beauty from the scholars who she can easily wrap around her fingers. when she has a bad day, or when she is simply bored out of her mind, she takes a mirror and looks at herself. confirming her pretty face, her beauty. her beauty is an asset that doesn't work in her favor in part 2, it's the reason she was taken.
so, for her to get a cut on her forehead and thus scarring her face shows that her instinct to survive is greater than her beauty and that she will gladly "devalue" herself if it means gaining something out of it. imo, it shows her development because i don't think early episodes gil chae would have ever considered ruining her beauty like that. ofc, she acts to save her own skin, but it shows that she'll do what's necessary, as she has always been doing ever since episode 4. she kills, she fights, she does business, and she even "ruins" her pretty face if it means survival.
this further strengthens my love for her and her character. she is selfless and resilient. even in episode 11 we can see that she is "selfish" against her will sometimes. she did not want to leave that old man behind which is why she went back to negotiate to at least get his grandson's freedom. she has a moral conscience, and still wants to help people, but knows she has to be careful. It literally troubled her so much that she went BACK. gil chae is such an interesting female character and my heart breaks for her, i'm excited to watch episode 12 and onwards, but i wanted to get this little (maybe very obvious) analysis off my chest.
Do you guys think there will be a physical OST album? I really hope so, imagine the photobook full of pictures from the show😭😭😭 I'd buy that in a heartbeat!
Amen!! Hope you enjoy Pt 2 as well. 4 eps in and I will stop right there! 😎
i loved pt. 1 and have been enjoying the scraps i was able to see.... so save to say i will love pt. 2 as well🥹😭 i am also ready to come to my fave girl's defense lmao gil chae is being hated on for the smallest things and i cannot tolerate that
I have only been able to see pictures and small little clips that aren't too long, but if the leads don't get nominations at the highest award shows, I will quite literally riot. Their acting is sososo fine and GOOD - a master class. It literally brings you right into the show, and I am so happy I can finally start Pt.2 now!!
I don't care what they said about her, is their problem. They are romanticizing an era we cannot understand and…
oh yes i believe once these two sit down for a couple of hours and COMMUNICATE openly them they would be unstoppable. i’m excited to watch the rest of the show to see how gil chae continues to grow😌
my girl gets hate for breathing so i had to give my two cents. she didn’t get married to the official for funsies. everyone says she’s oh so selfish and leading on the male lead, but she is the opposite. she’s selfless, giving up HER one love to provide for her WHOLE family. it would have been selfish to run away, leaving her employees and sick father behind. but ppl here see a romance tag and don’t think any further🤪 for once, we get a complex and interesting female character and poof she’z jusged like a witch😒
my girl gil chae is getting hated again, so i know she must be doing something good again. yall could never make me hate her, can’t wait to watch the episodes next week🫵🏼
the legitimate prince is getting on my nerves lol. He may have connections or whatever but so far he hasn’t proven himself intellectually, at least the male lead makes an effort in court and actually wants to change things👺
