I'm watching My Absolute Boyfriend right now and came back here to reiterate how impressed I am by Yeo Jin Goo as an actor. He is equally convincing as a perfect boyfriend robot and a tragically psychotic king.

If you love a good light rom-com with a nice male lead and a capable female lead, this one is for you. It's far less annoying than a million other dramas where a) the male lead is a jerk, b) the female lead is a damsel in distress, c) they knew each other as kids, d) somebody gets amnesia. I mean, really, in Dramaland, is falling in love with a robot all that unrealistic compared to the other options?

I can't really understand people saying "I've watched 14(of 16) episodes and should I continue?" If you are not…
Thank you! Just what I needed to hear.

Honestly, I’m looking for validation from my peer group because I have drama completist syndrome and it stresses me out to leave a drama unfinished. Call it a low-stakes mental health issue :)
On Her Private Life Jun 20, 2019
I can't find the energy to continue past ep 14. I completely loved HPL at first and I still love the characters but I'm just SO BORED of this dumb mom angst now. Is it really worth forcing myself to continue or can I just drop it in peace and fondly remember the good times?

I could have done without the last episode. There's tying up loose ends and then there's making elaborate bows out of loose ends. Otherwise, it was fantastic - tightly paced, brutally written, superbly acted.

The way Da Da treats Yeong Goo is so unnecessary. If I had a robot show up in my life to adore me, even if I was hung up on my ex I would still be friendly and patient with him and try to help him learn. When he does something sweet and she scoffs at it (i.e. all the time) it's like watching someone kick a puppy. I'm tired of that behavior from tsundere male leads in older dramas, I don't need to see it here.
On Tomorrow with You Jun 10, 2019
Had to drop this even though I love the time-travel premise because both the leads started to annoy me so much. Seo Joon is self-absorbed and arrogant in a glib way, like he's laughing about the fact that you're less interesting than he is. And Ma Rin is cutesy in an intense way, like she sounds whiny even when she's being reasonable. They may have chemistry but what does it matter when you wouldn't want to hang out with either one of them?

I am so glad Young Goo has realized he wants to be loved in return. It was getting too painful watching him just give and give with no expectations. Now I kind of want Da Da to have to cope without him for a little while so she can see just how much she's missing.

Young Goo was about to become the next Hachiko if Dada didn't come back for him. ಡ ﹏ ಡ
It made me think of Song Joong Ki in A Werewolf Boy ㅠㅠ

Title Real
Kim Soo Hyun's acting is amazing here, regardless of anything else. I love the visuals and the neo-noir tone, too. What bothered me about 'Real' was not the incoherent plot (which reminded me of a David Lynch movie) but the female characters, or lack thereof. Sulli is the only woman with a name and she, like every other woman who appears onscreen, is always either a puppet or a plaything with zero agency. First it was boring, then it became kinda depressing.
On Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo Apr 29, 2019
Y'know those dramas that make you sad as they end, because you know that real life will never be as lovely, beautiful and romantic as the drama's world? Yeah, this is one of those. There are objectively better dramas out there, but this one is just so bright and warm that it hurts.

I just went and YouTubed it now. I’m so glad you mentioned it or I wouldn’t have ever watched it, what was…
I think it’s because they don’t want to pay for the music rights, so every scene with a pop song (that’s not from the official OST) is cut out. I noticed the same thing with Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - they cut two hilarious scenes at a club and karaoke bar. Thanks a bunch, cheapskates. Anyway, I’m glad you managed to find the scene elsewhere, it’s such a great moment!

Not confirmed at this point. It's implied that he was a journalist writing an article that would've caused a stir…
With the nurse being the kind of person she is, she wouldn't have killed Yu Ri's dad. She cared for both Do Hyun and Yu Ri and she would have felt way too guilty. I'm guessing that Yu Ri's dad's death was caused by the same people who framed Do Hyun's dad.

Be warned, anyone who watches this on Netflix: they skip the scene where Gong Yoo sings ‘Noreul Saranghae’! I feel shocked, hurt and betrayed. Anyone who has never seen it before wouldn’t even know what they’re missing! That’s just cruel. Why drama gods why?? Okay rant over.

Ep 3 subs are out! It was a fantastic episode, so tense. That bit where Do Hyun and Det. Ki are stood under the umbrellas together was bad. ass. I also love how everything and everyone is connected, but it looks like the connections are much smarter and better-written than the usual K-drama coincidence BS.
On Romance Is a Bonus Book Mar 27, 2019
I was expecting a simple love story, but what I got was so much more. This felt like an ensemble drama - the emphasis was on the workplace and the different stories of these people who love books. Eun Ho and Dan I's romance was a lovely peg to hang that on, in the middle of it all, but it didn't swallow up all the scenery like some romances do. For example, there was no pointless third act misunderstanding to drag out the couple angst. Instead, we had space and time to get to know so many different lovers and fighters as individuals. I appreciated that.

I don't have any problem with the character's behaviour but I can't help but feel that the actress is a bit...…
Yep, she acts like she's in a different drama to everyone else. A screwball rom-com maybe?
