I really loved how in ep 31 xuening is so happy after talking things through with xie wei and deciding to go rescue the princess instead of returning to her hometown... she may want a peaceful life, but she also freaking loves to be scheming and rescuing and accomplishing things right now and xie wei is the perfect partner in crime for that! all of that conversation supports that xie wei is the most 合适 (suitable) for her temperament

Gosh I was rewatching ep 10 (love this ep cuz FL has her smart moments vs. the empress dowager when she's being framed) and realized that Xie Wei had to choose whether to take the jade pass from the Emperor with him to get the doctor through the door vs. give it to his bodyguard to get the ministers to save jiang xue ning and he chose to give it to save her (even tho she didn't end up needing it cuz she had convinced the empress to call the justice ministers alrdy), I didn't catch it the first time around (maybe i had thought there were 2 passes but no) but it really shows that he already prioritized her and was confident enough to rely on his wits for his own mission <3

Yep. I'm okay with the arc because it shows what isn't right for her, a way to learn what she likes more lol

I'm a huge bai lu fan which is why I started this drama, but zhang linghe really grew on me, I was pleasantly surprised - he suits this role and their chemistry is very believable
