There are some aspects in this kind of drama that makes it boring: 1) It is obvious (at least strongly feels so) how it ends and what's gonna happen in general. 2) Some episodes in row are almost same, nothing really happens. 3) Seems like the writer had in mind the idea that main leads first have to fall in love for what they are now, in order later to see how their relationships will be influenced by the more thrilling connection between them when discovered. And to keep them from discovering it the writer does silly (as for me) plot drags with all that accidents and interrupted questions, etc.
Nevertheless I still love and charmed with the characters and the main idea of the drama. Just after these week's episodes I don't like the plot and disappointed.
This gives me vibes of 'My mister' in ep 9-10. But Soo Ho... It's crime to make such an evilish yet deep and human male lead. The problem is I hate to like him, yet I fell for him.
For me, despite of AI theme, this drama's plot seems so conservative and trivial. AI here is NOTHING different from person in terms of perceptions, ideology, emotions - I mean he gradually becomes/long to become just another copy of an ordinary person with ordinary worries. That's boring. I hope to see an AI that is much free from the burdens of people but still smart and generous.
The story is so dumb, it reminds me of cartoons for small children. For ex., last episodes were ridiculous with all that bad guys hunting assumed NS3 is NS for a silly reason (and more), countdown time ups, unnecessary murders and sudden survivals, and annoyingly obvious when he returned after one year, etc etc. I even can picture the writers of the drama who didn't know what to write and just pull a pack of cliches from a shelf and spit it everywhere into the script. It will take forever to list the plot faults.
There is nothing positive to say about this drama. Well except of Seo Kang Joon being extremely handsome. He played okay and sometimes I was impressed by his characters actings but he didn't really steal a scene for me. Tbh I skipped many scenes and some episodes, but I came back only because I was a bit curious of where the story of NS3 will go. Because in the beginning he had quite interesting features.
The romance was boring and not impressive, because of both their story, female character and the actress. I'm not against of AI+human romance stories, it's just this one was meh for me.
For me Chan is getting annoying with his overacted dumbness. He is nice and cute in general though, but for me there is nothing like second lead syndrome everyone talking about. Well, Sori overacts too with all her confused or surprised faces (this is less annoying as despite of that she is quite clever and charming so far). I think this is essential for the comedy genre to have dumb overacting. This is not my genre after all. But.. at the same time most of other actors do not overact but still are more fun. So I wish there wasn't overacting at all.
Well, may be this drama is exactly for 15 ish years olders, not less, not more. It's charming in many ways but despite of that it managed to be boring. I couldn't finish it, finally put it on hold after ep 14, can't persuade myself even to fast-forward the last episodes, just saw some parts of them.
Them been working together every day for 9 years but falling in love/realising the love/changing the attitude only now - is that even believable? The reason of her quitting the job and leaving YJ alone is too weak considering all those 9 years.
I have no problem with YJ being so narcissistic. He is just a fun and funny character, made so artistically that he doesn't have to be realistic, because he is a work of art.
Kim miso in her late 20s is so immature. This happens in real life, but to portray this relatable there need to be deepness in the written character in the first place. Miso was admirable in the first few episodes: perfect at her job, strong, smart, gorgeous. But then Park Minyoung satrted to overact too much, and all the awkward and comical scenes looked fake and uncomfortable to watch. Even her elegant manners that looked gorgeous at the beginning, now seemed overused and unsuitable. Well, I never was a fan of the actress.
The worst for me was YJ's brother. Not the character, but the actor, He even ruined the character, as for me. I'm sorry to say, he was bad, seemed unprepared and amateur.
Other characters were fun, but shown too briefly and shallowly. Most of the time I was interested in side characters rather than in main leads.
I do agree that he should’ve at least done SOMETHING about this.Even if he didn’t want to let her stay at…
I know that the trauma made him that way. I thought the same about his caring about the dog and giving up his stubbornness for his nephew, I agree with you. For me, this makes him a bit less than heartless, and thats why I hesitate to call him a complete psychopath. As in the past he was a nice person I'm looking forward for his nice part to come to life again and him realising how heartless he was to Woo Seo Ri and others.
Mr. Gong is such a hateful character so far. At first i liked him automatically for Yang Se Jong. But then I realised that he has no humanity: a homeless, lost, probably sick girl broke into his house which was hers, her family left her to good, and he just tells her to leave even not trying to help her a bit, at least to ask her if she has somewhere to go, where she came from, my be she needs a ride to go to her rehabilitation center, or to police. He is just heartless. There are so much of room for him to be developed during the drama, hope those changes will make sense for me.
God this drama shows how freaking stupid is the family conception. It says that one should love their family/parents whatever they've done.
1) He kills/tries to kill many times all your most loved ones but as he is your father you should love him and be in sorrow if he died. Seriously? 2) Then, when your mother/sister is okay with father's horrible doings, you should love your mommy and sis dearly. Because you are f..king family, you are all blood related. WTF? 3) You love her but her father killed your precious people? But you should be sorry to her if she is in pain when her father is killed? :(
Same goes for friends, students, etc. What wrong with this world.... 3,5/10
P.S. The two romances (two couples) were so captivating that I kept watching the drama.
In episode 7 the couples other than the main one were fun and exciting to watch. But the wain one was meh: just him being rude jealous idiot cliche. I'm looking forward for Kim Ji Ah - Go Gwi Nam, Yang Cheol - Bong Se Ra, and Park Yoo Shik and everybody else couples.
In most of the times i start dramas with low expectations. This article may seem like i am sugar coating every…
It's not always the way I described of course, also often low expectations turn to be true, and wise versa. I wanted to point on that low expectations don't necessary proof the drama to be good.
Btw I liked your article, it was interesting to read.
When you have low expectations and are sceptical, the mediocre result looks much better in your eyes than it is in reality. As for me, I had high expectations, so reality seems worse than my expectations were.
I kind of enjoyed the romance, but not the rest of the plot. This drama doesn't seem smooth, is rough and raw for my taste. Although now as I watch mostly only the romance scenes I slowly get drawn to the other scenes too.
I was so hooked with Episodes 1 & 2 but the 3rd and 4th... not so much. There are way too many scenes with lingering…
Can't believe someone has the same thought as I do. I agree with you, I thought exactly the same. Also that jealousy thing, how it is shown, was another boring cliche for me, unlike many people I didn't enjoy it.
Very few comments and the last one was 4 year ago. So I want to add one more.
There are some silly and exaggerated characters in this drama, so it's far from perfect for me.
But I got hooked and attached with some characters: charming Ling Jie (love Chen BoLin), soft and loyal Qin Tian, mysterious tomboy-ish Shen Qiang, and Hong Guo near to the second half of the drama with her uniq imagination, she became strong, serious but still charming.
There are interesting story twists and characters transformations, with I appreciate.
So I rather enjoyed the drama a lot, though it's 7,5/10 at most for me.
