Wang Yilei's overall body proportion and facial features greatly resembles Byeon Wooseok, but he is not as tall as BWS. His mole under his right eye reminded me of Bai Jingting, Lee Jongsuk, and Dilraba. So unique.
I finished reading the novel in 2020. At that time, there weren't many dramas similar to this; The image of Dylan Wang I had was still the the spoiled Daoming Si and I also hadn't watch any of Meng Ziyi's works either. Roughly, an actor who had portrayed similar role when I read the novel was Zhang Zhehan (Long Feiye in Legend of Yunxi). Legend of Yunxi itself was aired in 2018, quite early. I'd say "the most similar", not exactly the same. Sadly, he was blacklisted, so it's impossible.
I don't have any actor and actress I could possibly picture to portray Xie Jingxing and Shen Miao, but Dylan Wang is actually promising, given his performance in "Love Between Fairy and Devil", which came out later in 2022, exceed my expectations. But, his voice has to be dubbed. His voice is naturally on the higher-pitch, which won't be fit with descriptions of Xie Jingxing. Not many actors and actresses undergo voice training, have good articulation, also speak in standard Mandarin. Even Zhang Zhehan in Legend of Yunxi got dubbed.
For me, the safest option is to wait for the drama to finish airing and observe how the audiences react. I don't want to destroy the ideal Xie Jingxing and Shen Miao I had in my mind, nor do I want to criticize Dylan Wang & Meng Ziyi just because they don't fit my standards.
I watched this long long time ago, when I was in 2nd year of middle school. Roughly around 2016/2017.
And now I didn't expect Chu Xia's son was portrayed by Wu Lei. Like what? Time passed so quickly and I watched Wu Lei in the Long Ballad (2021). He was so different! Obviously white washing in Cdramas are common now.
劇名: 情敵竟是我自己 / My love rival is mesun qian xun & wang jiamaoFYI her cos as a guy is handsome…
I watched this and I absolutely recommend this! It somewhat give the vibes of Korean drama To the Beautiful You and Chinese drama Accidentally in Love. Anyway, the actress is 173 cm, closer to the height of tall men. This drama convinced me the most that FL was really a guy, beating other more budgeted dramas. Usually, FL who pretends to be a guy has women's average height, even tho the story and the casts' acting are brilliant. 10/10 from me!
Currently I have watched until episode 9 and here's my opinions. 1. At first, I enjoyed the relationship between Yan Fei and Wang Xuan Yu, but the sudden appearance of WXY's girlfriend made me irritated, especially since YF didn't know the boundaries between male and female, with WXY. I feel how hard WXY's girlfriend's feelings in making decision to break up with WXY and "set him free". It was hard for her, giving that she poured her best in their relationship. 2. The CP I enjoyed the most was Mr. Wu and Ms. Zhuo. They were very cute, and reminded me of the "black cat and golden retriever" vibes. 3. BL is not my cup of tea, so I skipped all scenes about the BL couple.
I was searching for his list of dramas here, then I just found out that he was Chu Xia's son in Far Away Love. He grew up really well that I didn't even recognize him (sounds like I'm older, but tbh I'm much younger than him). I first watched FAL when I was in middle school (around 2016), because of Park Hae Jin. I thought his drama that I first watched was Love Like the Galaxy. What a twist
I also didn't expect to see a actress playing the support role as a hijabi. Thailand has now became more open to diversity. It's good to see it clearly in dramas and no racism involved! She's funny too.
I watched countless dramas about boss and his secretary, but this is quite hilarous. I didn't expect Preem would set an ambulance siren as Thee's ringtone🤣🤣
I watched the Chinese version, then the Korean version years ago. It's very light and the shoots are beautiful, more like a Chinese drama rather than a Japanese drama. Japanese dramas usually didn't put a lot efforts in whitewashing. I love the story, it's still refreshing even if it's the 3rd version. I love all the versions and each of them has their own pros and cons.
Japanese FL is beautiful and cute, even in her curly, frizzy hair. Her looks reminds me of the FL in Chinese drama "Filter". I actually a bit disappointed when she did makeover to her hair, but I grew to like her new looks. The FL here is very ENFP.
I have mixed feelings about this drama. It started off nice, but because I don't really enjoy stories about cheating, especially it's the theme here. I stayed until the end because Yuki Furukawa! It's been a long time since I stumbled into his newer works. Thank God Yuki didn't end up with FL.
In a day, I finished watching 4 Japanese dramas, including this. I would say that this drama is actually very good for me. The plot is nothing new tho. Some may find it boring and dull. But, the chemistry and personalities between Miyagi and Tsukasa is very good. I always give high rating to romance/family dramas that uphold the importance of respect, trust, honesty, boundaries, and security (安全感) in a relationship. The value "security", I learned it from watching many Chinese dramas and not many people realize the importance of this. If I were to be put in the same situation as Miyagi, I would choose the exact path Miyagi had chose.
As for Shion, some commented that he is a bad, terrible friend to Tsukasa. But, in my opinionz he's a very keen and sensitive person. He likes Miyagi, so he tells Tsukasa openly, making Tsukasa realize his feelings for Miyagi. A bad friend would backstab his friend secretly. Tsukasa is more of a choleric/melancholic person, who take what he wants. He can come across as insensitive and stubborn. Tsukasa is lucky to have Shion as his best friend.
Fyi: for those who got pissed off in scene where ML said that "romance and s*x are two different things", keep in mind that this is a Japanese drama. If you watch a survey on Youtube, it's already rooted for decades. In that survey, men and women got asked about some acts that we already consider it as "cheating", those aren't cheating for Japaneses. According for what I've read, if they have s*x with other persons, most Japaneses don't consider it as "cheating" as long as they don't develop feelings for the other party. Correct me if I'm wrong.

His drama that I first watched was him as a good guy in a drama set somewhat between 70s and 80s. He's very likeable at first, but he got more scumbag roles as time goes by. I honestly feel that his acting is quite flat, since most of his dramas I watched had him having the same flat facial expression techniques. Even his lovable facial expression as a good guy I first watched became annoying to me since he used that very same technique in portraying villain, scumbag roles. I hope he can get more good guy roles, improve his acting, and explore more on acting techniques.
I watched 2 or 3 other versions, but I think I like this version the most. The plot itself is quite common in Chinese short dramas, and this version only has few scenes that left impressions on me
