Well, indeed movies and dramas with rebirth, transmigrate, and reincarnate theme (not xiaxia, fantasy, or wuxia) are banned by the goverment of PRC, especially if it were to be aired on public channels. If i am not wrong, there was a case that a/some person commited suicide bcs he/she watched Scarlet Heart China. Prob he/she found that life was too difficult, that he/she commited suicide, hoping they would reincarnate/going back to their previous live, like the FL in Scarlet Heart China where she went back to her previous live as daughter of an official in Qing Dynasty. After that case, government of PRC banned that. Bcuz of that, the sequel of Scarlet Heart china, Scarlet Heart 2 got messed up and they had to replace all the scenes about rebirth or reincarnate, and that made an entirely different story, a standalone. Dramas with rebirth, transmigrate, or reincarnate are only able to be aired through online (webdrama, I mean). But, yea, i dunno why the production team picked up the novel. Tbh, I just got it why the title is Rebirth for you while the chinese title itself nor the story are not about rebirth. Thx for letting me know. I watched it bcuz the english title and the synopsis seemed promising, and yea bcuz of Ju Jingyi. As a big fan of Ju Jingyi, her fashion style is absolutely stunning, like her airport fashion style and make up. But i dunno if her stylists has grudges against her that she is really like a clown in some of her dramas. Her skin is good even without make up, so wth will all that thick makeup whenever she acts? And, she really sucked in choosing scripts:( i hope that she'd go out her comfort zone and try more challenging roles
