This season is very enjoyable... Until you actually start to think about it and realize the show never actually bothered to explore, develop or actually answer much of anything. It's a lot of tell, but never show, which just leaves you with 500 more questions (which, let's be real, will never be answered).

ML's whole past of what happened between S1 & 2 that they keep talking about? Never explored. FL's whole brain-craving thing? Randomly dropped. Seung-jo's whole apparent relationship with the ML? Never explored aside from a single flashback. The betrayal and whole deal of Jun-taek's grandson? Never explored because he just disappears until the finale where they give you a single flashback. The ML & FL don't have any purpose to them outside of these underdeveloped things, because the show stripped away everything from S1 that was connected to them, and all your left with is their romance.

The actors carried this season on their backs, because the script was just incredibly weak.

This really annoyed me, because it was the only thing the FL actually had to her character outside of the romance. I thought this was interesting at first, but this is completely dropped after episode 3, because... idk, power of love? It's literally never explained. And afterwards the FL really became somebody who's only purpose was to be a love interest (not that the ML is much better).

Explained everything? Meanwhile I'm still waiting for the show to actually reveal what the heck the deal was between Maeda & the FL's mother.

Show: Has the FL call the ML out on him pulling the outdated "stay behind because a man needs to protect a woman" trope.

Also show: Takes away the FL's powers and then has the finale devolve into a story about how the ML has to save the FL.

Like, I can't be the only one who was waiting for her to somehow get her powers back and then for both of them to stand against that giant creature or something? Like, we saw them fight seperately, we saw them fight towards each other, so... why didn't we see them fight together? Heck, the S1 finale literally already did the "ML has to save FL" plot, but even there they fought together at the end. Like, I wanted to see them fight together with their powers, but instead of losing like they did in S1, they win instead. Could've been a full circle moment. But I guess not.

BIG SPOILERS:

Short story: she breaks up with him to find her own identity.

Long story: So, in the Skam storyline, Eva (Ji Yu) ends up kissing Chris (Do Ha), because she thinks her boyfriend Jonas (Chan Seong) is cheating on her (he isn't) with Ingrid (Su Jin, Ji Yu's former best friend - the girl who's very anagonistic towards her now). Chris is revealed to be a massive player who's also cheating on his girlfriend. It is then revealed that Jonas used to date Ingrid, but he cheated on her with Eva (that's how they got together). Big drama happens. Ultimately, Eva breaks up with Jonas to find her own identity. In seasons 2-4 they remain friends and on good terms, while Eva has a fling with Chris. At the very end of S4, Eva and Jonas get back together while Chris gets together with the girl Jonas had a fling with.

I don't know if this is exactly how it'll go down here, but I expect the overall story to remain the same, because the story is set up that way.

Well, A Ra is a transfer student, so all of that Noora stuff can very much fit with her too. I do think she's softer than Noora, but I also wonder if that's because they maybe softened the feminism aspect of her character. It's still there though: her reaction in episode 3 when Mi Na was talking about sex with her boyfriend felt very Noora coded. And much like Noora was, A Ra is also very much positioned as Ji Yu's best friend. Oh, and she's also introduced right after somebody talks about somebody being a slut (I had a good laugh at this because there is no way that wasn't done on purpose).

Ye-ri is the Sana character. The only difference here is that she's not Muslim, but from Southeast Asia. The whole racism theme and her whole personality are very much that of Sana. Honestly, both Noora and Sana do have some similarities in terms of personality, but I think from how both characters were introduced and set up, it's pretty clear as to who's who.

Skam is a 4-season show. They break up at the end of S1, but get back together at the end of S4.

Oh, that actually makes a lot of sense. Her being excited about Su Ho kissing somebody is really what threw me for a loop. It being Do Ha would actually be a good twist, and would make total sense with all the hints they've been dropping.

That episode 3 ending though...

They're setting up Korean Noorhelm with A Ra & Su Ho pretty early. Excited for what that's gonna bring. I don't mind some changes, but I do hope that her attitude towards him is gonna be like in Skam, and they don't tone her down all that much.

Mi Na's mystery boyfriend thing is throwing me for a loop. It seems like that's following the Skam storyline, but it also seems like it's not at the same time? So, who's the mystery boyfriend?

There's a girl squad, which will probably get plenty of screentime. The season is centered around the FL, so don't expect that much bromance.

The second episode was even more like Skam than the first one, and I didn't even think that was possible. Not a bad thing at all though, because I liked this episode way more than the first one. Anyway, now that we've introduced all the characters, bring on the drama!

Okay, the finale is kinda weird, and didn't really resolve anything, but I'm also kinda satisfied with it?
Because maybe it never really was about who was gonna be king, or everything surrounding that. Maybe the entire show was really just about a woman's journey to fight for what she wants, and to ultimately accomplish her dream. Her original dream was to be a general, and isn't that exactly what she accomplished in the end?

Funny how they ultimately decided not to make this a Skam remake, only to then take everything from Skam anyway. It's not even a little bit: everything in episode 1, from story to characters, is essentially taken from Skam. Maybe they'll change it up later, but so far I'm genuinely wondering how they're able to get away with this.

But as someone who likes Skam, you won't hear me complaining. You better not mess it up though.
