This Drama Gave Nothing New… and Still Kinda Ate
Finally finished watching it. I won’t say I was mesmerized, but I also wasn’t bored. It falls right in the middle, neither amazing nor bad, but solid enough to keep going.
By the time you read the synopsis or see a few clips, you’ll probably think, here we go again, another revenge drama where the female lead loses everything in some elaborate conspiracy and comes back to take revenge. And yes, that’s exactly what it is. It’s the same story all over again. And if that bothers you, fair enough. But if you enjoy this kind of drama, you’ll probably still watch it. I do, so obviously I gave it a shot.
I didn’t expect anything great going in, which is probably why I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, it delivered better than a few revenge dramas that had way more budget but zero direction.
The plot follows the usual structure, so there’s not much to say there. What made this one better than others was the female lead. She knew exactly what she wanted from the start and never lost focus. Even with the male lead around, she didn’t waver or get sidetracked. She never went back to being that helpless version of herself. She had a goal and she went for it.
The chemistry between the leads also worked really well. Nothing over-the-top or forced, just something that made sense and fit into the story without distracting from it.
The story stayed on track. It didn’t waste time on random side plots and focused entirely on her revenge, which made it easier to stay invested.
Now about the male lead. I’ll admit, it was a little weird at first seeing him go after the FL when she used to be his dead brother’s wife. But that awkwardness faded. Maybe because we never saw them interact as in-laws. By the time they "first" meet, she’s already in revenge mode, so that part just felt like background info.
Thankfully, he wasn’t the type to swoop in and fix everything either. He only helped when she asked him to, which made things feel more realistic and less like her story was being taken over.
The only real weak point for me was the villains. They weren’t less evil in what they did, but they didn’t feel that threatening. The aura just wasn’t there. They caused problems, sure, but none of them really stood out.
Visually though, everyone was serving. Almost the entire cast looked on point throughout. Outfits, styling, presence — all delivering, even if some of the characters didn’t.
If you’re expecting something new or unforgettable, this won’t be it. But if you go in knowing it’ll be more of the same, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it more than you thought you would. It’s not a waste of time.
[Also, credit where it’s due: fifty percent of why I kept watching was the male lead’s voice. I could listen to him talk all day. Completely hypnotic.]
