I think that because the ML tried to kill her several times, she is now focused on defeating him and loses sight of the bigger picture.

In the very first episode, the female lead shows clear jealousy toward the male lead’s fandom, and her manager openly criticises her for lacking dedication to her work. She’s even told that if she has no genuine interest in this industry, it would be better for her to walk away altogether.
Unfortunately, she displays a similar attitude in the historical setting. Even though she knows parts of the script, she fixates on one goal ,defeating Nan Heng , without taking the time to understand the bigger picture or investigate what truly happened. This narrow-minded focus and lack of curiosity about the actual events significantly lower my opinion of her character.
As I mentioned before, I really hope her character arc improves in the upcoming episodes and that she is given the opportunity to grow and become more layered and meaningful.

I just finished the 8 episodes, and I have to say I feel really sorry for Nan Heng and the way his family has treated him since childhood. I'm sure he's not responsible for his mother's death, but at the same time, I don’t think Chu Gui is guilty either.
The 18th Prince always makes me laugh — he’s extremely dumb, but I think it’s just a cover.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about the FL. I can’t say her character makes me laugh. She clearly has an advantage because she knows most of the script, but even though the male lead (ML) has tried to kill her several times (which is somewhat understandable given how much she knows about his past and the fact that she’s engaged to his enemy), she doesn’t seem interested in truly understanding what really happened — that ML is actually fighting to protect innocent people. I really hope her character starts to grow from episode 9 onward, otherwise, she starts to be annoying.
I think the real villains are the 18th Prince and ML’s uncle, and that the Emperor knows this and is trying to protect Nan Heng.
I really like the four Masters of Waning River Crescent — it seems Liu Yuning enjoys having this kind of setup in most of his dramas :)

I’m looking forward to seeing how the plot develops. It feels like many sad moments are coming soon.

I'm struggling with ADWAD as well, not sure why, maybe I'm not into this type of drama, but I keep watching, hopefully it gets better after episode 6

I've watched all Bai Lu's dramas and I don't consider she looks like Bai Lu nor acts as Bai Lu.
Also, it is normal for the outfit and hairstyle to look same to most of the actress playing in historical dramas , nothing new under sunshine.

You should continue watching, it gets better in the next episodes, I also didn't like 1st episode.

I'm on same page with you, I didn't laugh at all in 1st episode, but for me it is because I've seen this type of beginning already in "Love Game in Eastern Fantasy" . Let's keep watching to see how this develops further .

In episode 4 the ML says "For the first time I feel I've met my match. Who knew it will be the Princess of Beiyuan" . So ya, you can say he kinda fall for her :)

Apart of the wolves scene which was a bit meh, the rest of the episodes were ok. Is unfair to rate a drama just after 1 or 4 episodes, that I call it ridiculous .

I'm curious who dared to give such low ratings to this drama, especially since only 4 episodes have been released. So far, the drama is really good — I don't understand these haters...
