I'm loving all the Nam Soon and Hee Sik undercover missions. Though in reality, if they actually go undercover like that, I don't think anyone will fall for their disguise. But I'm treating this as a very unserious show that's why I'm still laughing at their antics.
I'm still enjoying watching the show, but I do agree that the mother has a lot of screen time compared to Nam Soon. From the start, I know that Nam Soon won't be the only female lead and that Hee Sik, eventhough he is a main lead, won't have enough screen time compared to Geum Joo, and Joong Gan. This is basing from one of the main posters of the show. Just hoping that in the next few episodes, they increase her screen time since she is what the show was named after. Hoping to have a lot of Nam Soon and Hee Sik scenes too.
I watch the show without skipping it and actually listen (or in this case read since I read the subtitles) to their dialogue, so for me, I think Nam Soon has more chemistry with Hee Sik. They both are pure and somewhat innocent (though too innocent at times for my liking). Though their scenes are quite few and short, I really do smile when I seem them together. When you look at them, you can see their genuine care for each other and that they seem enjoy each other's company. They have this same goal of wanting to help more people and that they feel better with theirselves when they are with each other. Hee Sik is falling for her not because of her strength nor her powers. He actually doens't want Nam Soon to use her powers. All in all, their's genuine reciprocity in their relationship and I smile everytime I see them enjoy being with each other. They are also so funny together.
Shi Oh is good-looking, but other than that, I don't see any spark with them. Maybe the he is falling in love with Nam Soon, but as of now, it's more on because he likes her for her strength. Every time he smiles, he looks creepy since I know he has evil intent. If Nam Soon loses her power, I don't think Shi Oh will still be attracted to her. Nam Soon might smile towards Shi Oh and defend him, but it's all because she has to act like a loyal employee because she wants to infiltrate the company. That's what an undercover does.
OMG I KNOW RIGHT, just because he’s attractive doesn’t mean he won’t kill you. 💀It’s reminds me of…
I strongly agree!! I watch a lot of True Crime and most of criminals/serial killers will do anything to charm you but doesn't mean they have genuine concern at you. After watching today's episode, I've concluded that they are just rooting for him because of his visuals and maybe because they are rooting for the actor. They keep on saying that the chemistry of Shi Oh and Nam Soon is better compared to Hee Sik but it's not true. Shi Oh just smiles at Nam Soon but Nam Soon doesn't smile genuinely at Shi Oh. It's all under the pretense that she's a loyal employee to get close to Shi Oh and help Hee Sik and her mother.
The scenes of Nam Soon and Hee Sik might be few compared to others but you can see that they smile and genuinely enjoy being with each other and are concerned for one another. They just chose to skip those parts because it's not their ship, so of course they won't see their chemistry.
are people actually liking this or am i right for being biased about it ever being made ?should i give it a chance…
If you have time, I suggest that you should try it out and judge for your own. Some people genuinely enjoy watching it, but some people seems to enjoy hate watching it since they keep on complaining but still keep on watching it every week. You can drop it if you don't like it, but it would be a waste if you pass on it just basing on the negative comments, who knows, you might end up liking it.
I personally still enjoy watching it. I didn't have any expectations when I started it, so I guess that's why I'm enjoying it. Though there are things that I wish they have done a bit differently. There are 7 more episodes to go, and I hope that they can address those things.
If you read the synopsis above, that's basically what they are trying to show. It's just that so far, the mother has more scenes than Kang Nam Soon even though the show was named after her. But it's half way there and I think it will change moving forward after Episode 9
Park hyung sik as ahn min hyuk was a league of his own. The character was well written and very different at that…
I don't think the writers are trying to recreate Ahn Minhyuk to Hee Shik. Ahn Minhyuk was a star on his own in SWDBS. But here in SGNS, so far Hee Shik doesn't have a story on his own other than that he's a police officer tasked to investigate drugs. He encounters Nam Soon and wants to help her find her mom but that storyline is done too. I don't actually know what the writers plans are for this show. I still want to know how this ends but I feel like naming this show like SWDBS is also a curse since people will keep on comparing the two shows and that they'll have expectations and all.
Its funny how people who are not shipping FL with the villain think that we are shipping them only because he…
I'm just genuinely curious why people are rooting for Shi Oh to end up with Nam Soon other than that they are just two beautiful people? I watched the show without watching tiktok trailers, so I'm just basing on what I've watched. It's okay if you think that Shi Oh is a far interesting character than Hee Shik but I don't get why he's a better option for you for Nam Soon.
The car scene with Shi Oh and Nam Soon was cute, but other than that, I don't feel anything between them. All I could remember was he tested Nam Soon's strength by crushing her. If you take out the bad things he has done, the things I saw were like they could just be friends too like how you think Nam Soon and Hee Shik are. I also find the moments between Nam Soon and Hee Shik cute too but still nothing that makes you think that they are an item. Nam Soon wants to get close to Shi Oh not because she wants to know more about him, but she's doing that to help Hee Shik and her mom. I mean if not for wanting to get that client drug list, Nam Soon wouldn't want to work with Shi Oh.
I do agree though that Hee Shik's character is bland compared to Ahn Minhyuk, but that doesn't necessarily make Shi Oh a better love interest for Nam Soon. Nam Soon said she wants someone who's innocent and that she can protect so maybe that's why Hee Shik's character is like that? I mean if you thoroughly watch the drama, you would understand why Nam Soon would like Hee Shik, but yeah I do agree with you that Hee Shik's character is so far one dimensional. There's no progress with his story.
It's just that I feel like I'm watching a different drama compared to the Shi Oh - Nam Soon shippers that's why I commented that. I've seen people comment that they just saw the edits in tiktok and thought they are cute that's why they watched it, only to be disappointed to know he's not the main lead and just fast forwards everything except Shi Oh and Nam Soon scenes.
I find this weird too. I get it if the people don't like the ML, but shipping the FL with the villain? I don't…
I agree with everything that you said. The villain is an intriguing character especially since the main conflict of the drama would come from his drug activities and his ambition to be on top of the food chain. How he became rich is one of the show's mystery too. He's a main character on his own right just the antagonist. He can shine on his own and doesn't have to have a romantic relationship with the FL.
I don't know, I just feel like some are forcing the romantic aspect of the FL and the villain too much. They complain that the ML and FL's relationship are too forced by their parents but isn't that what they're doing too with the FL and the villain?
Same!!! It's not the typical shows that I watch since I watch a lot of serious/dark/crime/psychological thriller…
That's good! I once watch Mouse and Beyond Evil at the same time so it's not really a problem for me since I like the genre. But recently I'm in a kdrama slump so I just tried something light for a change.
I recently finished watching non kdrama shows like Only Murders in the Building and The Blacklist S1. Currently on pause from The Blacklist that's why I watched Strong Girl Nam Soon. Might try Daily Dose of Sunshine when it airs.
I don't find any chemistry with Nam Soon and Shi Oh either. Nam Soon is very child-like and there's Shi Oh who…
Yeah. Except for the car scene with Nam Soon and Shi Oh, the way he looks at her is like a predator. I would understand if we weren't shown scenes where he did evil things, but it was there.
Shi Oh has chemistry with the mom, doesn't necessarily have to be a romantic one. I just feel like intelligence wise/ business wise, they are on the same level. So they'll be able to talk things out if ever. But yes, I do agree that Shi Oh doesn't have to have a redemption arc. This drama wasn't promoted as a love triangle drama unlike the SWDBS.
Not sure if they purposely like someone with red flags. I'm just thinking that they might be fans of the actor that's why they want him to end up with the FL. I'm also thinking that maybe they were misled by the posts in tiktok or in Twitter/X wherein they though he was the main lead.
For me it was his character in the show. Its magnetic and enticing but also mysterious. Makes me want to find…
I mean I get it if people are attracted to the villain's looks and find the character intriguing because of the mystery around him. I'm asking why are people shipping him with Nam Soon. It's just I always see comments that they prefer the villain for Nam Soon instead of the ML. So is it just because the villain looks good compared to the ML or maybe they are fans of the actor and just wants him to get the girl?
I've seen comments that they saw tiktok reels of the FL and the villain and thought they have a lot of scenes together or thought that the villain was the main lead. I've also seen the same reactions because they thought the actor was the main lead basing on their off screen interactions.
How about you? Do you honestly ship them together or are you just a fan of the character? I can understand if one likes the story or portrayal of the villain character. I did that too before since I watch a lot of psychological thriller dramas but never did I root for him to end up with the FL.
I started watching this a long time ago but didn't feel the vibes of the first few minutes so I dropped it. Was looking for something to watch in Netflix and decided to give this another try. It's not the best but I really enjoyed it. There is a tone of unseriousness of the characters but that's what made it enjoyable for me. I hated the character of the male lead at first but I find him endearing as I watch.
I'm finding this drama entertaining. It's not the best especially since I've watched a lot of kdramas and other series, but it's interesting. I usually prefer to watch a drama that has finished airing already so that I can binge watch it, but I'm currently in a break from watching the 1st season of a series with 10 seasons.
Strong Girl Nam Soon is something light. A drama where you shouldn't think much to enjoy it. It's best if you don't have prior knowledge about Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and if you don't have any affinity with the actors/actresses. Don't trust the trailers and reels in social media too. Just treat it as some comic book fantasy.
The series is still in its 8th episode, 8 episodes more to go. There's a lot more that can happen. There were some aspects in the show that I wish they could've done better, but I'm still hoping that it is intentional and that they will address it later.
So far, I'm liking it and still want to know where the stories go. I think I'm in the minority here in actually liking the characters. They are all very flawed and over the top at times, but I don't know why I still want to know what happens to them. Aside from the main characters, I don't know why I find myself caring about the brother of Geum Joo and her secretary. I feel like they could be a good match and help each other. Hahahaha. I also want to see Nam In's arc develop. I feel like he'll have an important role and that will make Geum Joo care more for him.
I think I'll stick to the end and see this drama through. Hopefully it gets better.
I find this weird too. I get it if the people don't like the ML, but shipping the FL with the villain? I don't…
Glad to see someone agree with me. Plus the villain even tried to test Nam Soon's strength by crushing her. His look there was plain evil. Did they forget that too just because the villain was all smiley in the car? I mean that's typical psychopath manipulative behavior. He'll do anything to make you his.
People can like the actor and his visuals, but you have to separate the actor from the role. I watch a lot of crime/ psychological thriller dramas wherein I find the villain handsome, but never did I want to ship them with the female lead.
I also don't understand this chemistry that they are talking about. Yes he smiled at her, so what? Does that make him likeable already? Also, does Nam Soon like him? It's obvious that Nam Soon just does what he says to get close to him and to know more about the drugs. What are people not getting?
I watch the show without skipping it and actually listen (or in this case read since I read the subtitles) to their dialogue, so for me, I think Nam Soon has more chemistry with Hee Sik.
