Agree! The last arc was not needed at all. This drama could've been a solid 10/10 for me if they ended the arc after the big plot twist / revelation at the Rong's ancestral palace.
I really like the cinematography, production, camera angles, and color grading the most throughout the drama. The cunning, battle of wits, and the plot twists are great! I enjoyed it so much. I was intrigue and entertained every single time. You can never fully guess what will happen next because it will give you another surprises.
This drama could've been a solid 10/10 for me but for some reason, the drama kinda went down after the Capital Arc. It is a bit of a let down when a very promising drama on its 80% then only to drag the drama in the end and introduce new characters after building up the OG characters for so many episodes. The twists and turns are really really great, and I believed the Capital Arc is not necessary needed at all. Maybe it was needed to fully introduces Lu Jianglai's family, but the amount of episodes they provided should've been 1-2 eps only instead of having it like 5-6 eps....
Anyways, I would not disregard all the build up and excitement this drama gave me until Ep 30. Such an amazing drama with surprising plot twists! I thought the plot twists are already done, but then, the plot twist still had another twist. Wow as in wow....
Overall, this is a great drama up to Ep 30! I won't be commenting on the remaining episodes because it was somewhat a downfall and draggy for me T^T
I was also surprised too! During the later episodes and some other parts (like the breathy voice) it really sounds like HMH. I'm glad they got a voice actor similar to his voice ;-;
There are instances in other dramas where the VA is not similiar to the actor's voice which makes watching the drama a bit off and weird because the voice doesn't match. But here, the VAs did a good job.
PS. However hearing their voices behind the scenes makes me feel sad a little bit because their real voices sounds so good. But it is what it is πββοΈ
Just finished Episode 29 and WHAT THE HELL?! I already know that there's something Mr. Yan is hiding and he's not clearly innocent. But wow if ever my curiosity didn't arise too much from the earlier episodes and didn't search if Mr. Yan will be good until the end, I will be totally surprised because this is THE MOST PLOT TWIST that indeed twisted my mind hahaha
But after learning that Mr. Yan won't be good until the end, at least I was able to prepare myself with this BIG REVELATION. I'm really glad that Rong Shanbao is smart and was suspicious with his identity back then. Both leads are so cunning and I'm loving it so much!!!!!!!!
Why does his drama "My New Husband, The Eunuch" from iQIYi is till not available here in MDL's list of dramas? I really like that short drama and I want to add it to my list but it's still not available despite being released for a few months now....
One thing I am confused about Mr. Bai is that why is he so mad at Rong Shanbao? Like it seems that he is putting all the blame to her when she was neutral and kind to him. He should focus on taking revenge on the manipulative and scheming Rong Yunshu for betraying him. It just doesn't make sense (for now) that he is also angry with Rong Shanbao when the blame is purely on Rong Yunshu on what happened to him. The complete change on his caharacter is questionnable and abrupt to the point that why he keeps on putting ALL the blame to Shanbao just because she is the 'future' head of the Rong family?
I like his character during the first few episodes since he doesn't easily get swayed from the issues and the happenings inside the Rong's Mansion, but after continuously getting entangled with the scheming and manipulative Rong Yunshu, I knew it's bad for him and his character will get influenced... he is even blinded with his love for her and for always trusting Rong Yunshu until the boat scene when all she did is keep manupulating people...
The complete change on his character is so out of the blue like did his head changed completely after falling into that river? lol
PS. I'm on Episode 27 at the moment, so let's see the twists or what will happen on the next scenes.. π
Iβm currently on episode 8 and have 20 more to go and itβs bearable for now but the whole thing kinda feels…
if you're interested in the politics here, then please continue watching and still give it a try. There's indeed some issues in terms of the editing here which makes it very fast paced. Like some scenes suddenly switches to the next scenes which makes it very abrupt, but for me despite those issues, I still find it enjoyable to watch.
If you haven't still get spoiled in the plot, you'll probably enjoy it if you like twists after twists.

The way Hou Ming Hao explains and shares his thoughts on the characters he is portraying really shows how much he loved Xiao Wuyi a lot. Thank you for being our one and only Xiao Wuyi. Without HMH, there's probably no Xiao Wuyi and Kttph. I will surely rewatch the drama soon to feel and experience the amaxing plot and how well they portrayed their characters and overflowing emotions as an actor through their actions and eye acting. π₯π
