I am enjoying this a little too much..I already watched the latest episode twice, I never do that, even with my favorite dramas (and I know nothing about ping pong)! But it will really only be 5 episodes?

Someone should put a disclaimer on the sinopsis: Not related to the novel at all..
It pains me to see the name of such a lovely novel being destroyed by this drama :-(

What do you mean by motivations? For an example?I think a lot of dramas watered down characters so that it will…
If it is a façade in the novel too, it would be actually weirder. It just would look like an afterthought from the writer. I think that, as the novel is really long, XJF growth will be slower. There is no way he will become the nice, honorable guy from the drama, though.

At this point, XFN is a real good for nothing, and JN hate is real too. Also, he just does stuff because he feels like it or to have fun - like releasing the man fron the lake. He doesn't learn martial arts because it is hard, and doesn't want to be the king because he would rather play.
Maybe there will a big reveal later, but I don't think so. At this point in the drama it was obvious that not everything was as simple as it seemed.

I started reading the novel and was really surprised by how different it is from the drama. Although they kinda followed the plot (to the chapter I'm at), the scriptwriters completely changed the motivations.

Also, they watered down the characters a lot, in the drama they are a lot nicer. I don't think it would have been allowed to air if they followed the novel.

I am not sure I will keep reading it, though. The traslation is no great and I think the novel was written with a different public in mind.

In the novel he became blind after the age of 18 because of tumor. He had just became famous back then. But after…
Really? This sound interesting! I got curious now...

This was.... Wow.
I was worried because I saw a lot of comments about the pacing, but for me, it was perfect. The character are interesting and well developed, even the less important ones. There are no one dimensional caricatures in this one. And the comedy is so subtle and natural.

Watch it as it's own story and don't compare it with the novel.
The only reason I was planning to watch this is the novel, as there is nothing else that atracts me to this drama. So I'd like to know more about how much the plot, character setup, etc deviates from it, if anyone can tell me.

Can anyone tell me how the drama compares with the novel? This is one of my favorite novels, so I am kinda scared by the comments...
On Cupid's Kitchen Jan 16, 2022
Ohhhh, I can't believe it is really based on that novel!! I loved it! It seems they changed the most interesting point of it, though...

Well, all I want to say " the director is so good at his work " that I see her death scene as beautiful ! good…
I agree! I found that scene pretty refreshing, quite different from similar scenes in other dramas - No screaming, no angst, no last words that last 5 minutes, just the beautiful OST and amazing acting.

I don't know why but i always suspect him even tho i try to be rational.Maybe because he's winning everything…
I think the same, he is really suspicious. And after Lord Chu/ GBZ exchanged looks in their latest scene together, I am pretty convinced he is on the other side.

Ep 19 and I'm really happy they cut off GBZ- WSY loveline before I even know it existed. They don't have this kind of chemistry at all. I just hope the lovesickness pass fast and they can go back to being badasses. Also, does it feel they are trying to stretch the main plot by adding a lot of fillers or it is just me?

The vibes of this dramas are a mess. The actors are doing one thing and the BGM and camera work are doing another. They keep trying to force the suspense and mistery in some scenes, but the acting doesn't support it at all... I don't know if it is a directing or a post production issue, but I hope next episodes things get more in sinc...

You mean Wang Zi Qi? :PWatch Imperial Coroner if you haven't already.
Oops.. And I even doublechecked to see if I was writing his name correctly ¬¬
I've watched IC, it brought me here. Now I'm thinking about maybe watching his older shows
On Once We Get Married Nov 13, 2021
This drama has put Wang Zi Qi at the top of my Trust-and-Watch chinese actors list. He is such a good actor, I was impressed by his micro expressions and natural acting in every scene he is in. I an really looking forward to his future works.

Am I the only one who feels this drama plot is really childish? It seems I need to turn off my brain to watch it. The only reason I didn't give it up yet is because I am curious about the side characters storylines...
