At first this adaption didn't sound good at all because of the changes, but I guess I judged it too quickly because I'm reading more and more good things about it and about how some scenes/dialogues are taken straight out of the novel (and the novel is one of my absolute favorites), so now I really want to watch it, but I refuse to watch it with machine translated subtitles. So I guess I'll just have to wait.

I love Oto, he just seems like such a decent guy, and I don't get Soramame's obsession with getting married, but I still like her, her honesty and how she's unapologetically herself is refreshing. The way the two of them have become friends who can jokingly insult each other and have fun together makes me think I'll really end up liking the romance in this show.

I read translated tweets from japanese fans and they wrote that there weren't any differences between the TV version and the FOD version, so I'm guessing it's from ep 2 and onwards (maybe because of steamy scenes?)

The Viki version? Not as far as I know. But since the special version is exclusive to FOD Japan, I highly doubt that Viki would get that version.

No I don't think so, as far as I read the FOD version doesn't include longer/more scenes, it's just a different version? If that makes sense.

Yeah I also think Naru acted like too much of an asshole for no clear reason, but if it was because he had feelings for Dan, then I understand it a lot better. Maybe Naru didn't realize his own feelings until he felt jealous when he overheard Dan and Asuka at the end of ep 7. I'm looking forward to re-watching the show with Naru's feelings in mind.

And I agree about season 2, if we're getting one then I hope this is mentioned/explored. I would hope Naru has gotten over his feelings for Dan by then (since I don't think Dan would reciprocate them), but I would love if it was talked about like Naru telling Dan "I had feelings for you back then".

About FoN: Most of the lyrics don't make sense from Dan's POV at all, not the friendzone part either, since Dan is the one that told Asuka he wanted to focus on 8LOOM, he didn't even give her a chance to explain her own feelings, and he said to his members that he was happy as long as he got to spend time with her, that was enough for him, which as you mentioned, seems like the opposite of the FoN lyrics.
