Agree with this 100%, I got pretty hyped up about this (because of the visuals and demon idea as you pointed out) but then when the trailer came out the vibes were different from what I expected it to be (๑•́ -•̀).. I wanted some dark romance with high stakes but it actually seems to be a generic romcom with an extra fantasy element.. hoping I'm wrong and it turns out to be really good but if not at least Death's game is coming out next month (∗˃̶ ᵕ ˂̶∗)

No, I haven't read it. Maybe it's rushed, but unless they somehow manage to pull off a reasonable 180 turn on ML's character, I doubt it'd change my opinion of him. I'm not a fan of the trope where the FL puts up with ML's toxicity (that's directed towards her as well) just because she sees 'the good' in him or 'the real him'. And I'm definitely not a fan of bullies. I get the cold, arrogant ML trope, and it can be good when executed well, but I can't root for a ML who is a bully for no good reason.
