Starts strong, then becomes slow, only to get into rushed ending. Overused comedy moments wasted potential of…
totally agree.Safe is the word that came to my mind when I finished the drama.Second half was kinda bad it felt like just another kdrama.no nuisance just a happy safe ending. All the topics they highlighted in the first half suddenly disappeared. It seemed to me like they were way too ambitious for 14 episode drama and in the middle they realized they couldn’t explore all the themes and characters and changed the plot. Such a waste…
pathetic i say..... i dnt know why i said this... most of the time when i was watching , i felt deeply irritated…
I felt the same about the male lead he irritates me to no end and his laugh… omg that arrogant appalling laugh… and the problem is he becomes more and more unbearable as the series goes on.
cui shi jiu confuses me. In episode 16 she kinda felt sorry for the people who were imprisoned in the mines and horrified by what was going on in weilig. But her attitude towards the pearl farm was completely different. Was she not aware what was really going on behind the closed doors or is she just okay with exploiting people if she is the one in power?
I finally started watching this to see what the hype was about, and I really enjoyed the beginning, but by the…
I watched up to 14 episodes and she pretty much stays the same no development whatsoever.I would go as far to say that she becomes more insufferable and childish
I’m curious how characters in these dramas have so many winter coats and jackets. Dong Kyung’s little house…
that’s what always bothering me in kdramas. Protagonists are portrayed as poor broke people who don’t even have enough money to pay their rent but somehow have brand new outfits every day? Like new shoes and coats. It always throws me out of the story. They are probably doing it for sponsorships but it doesn’t make it any less ridiculous.
When was the last time a man saved you from a passerby like a bike, car, scooter, or anything just to hold you…
that and umbrella scenes. Imagine you are sitting alone thinking about your estranged parents (mother in most cases) and suddenly it starts raining. You start thinking to yourself god my life can’t get any worse than this but strangely you also find comfort in this loneliness. You get lost deeper in your sadness but out of nowhere it stops raining startled you look up and see FL/ML standing with an umbrella. You don’t know where they came from why are they there or how did they find you but you never ask. They are just there. The implications these scenes carry are really sweet but when you see them in every other drama they just become redundant and boring.
That was the most dragging drama I’ve seen lately. I came to the point, where I was watching only for the main…
I agree I watched up to 41 episodes because of the main leads but at this point I can’t continue watching it even for them. First half was good more or less but as the story progresses it becomes more and more predictable. Every male worships awu and is ridiculously obsessed with her but every woman hates her. But everyone wants his husband dead.Officials are corrupt and the third prince is a simp.Blah blah blah. Even main leads relationship loses its spark. They get together pretty early on and there is nothing going on between them. I mean they are sweet with each other but for 68 episode drama at some point this format becomes boring. We even rarely see them together and their relationship becomes just a background. plot drags on and conflicts become overly simplified.
It was my first time watching the historical cdrama I had nothing to compare it to so I quite enjoyed watching the series. In the beginning I thought the revenge would be more ruthless but that wasn’t the case. Yes both leads achieved their goals but other characters didn’t suffer as much as they deserved. Still it was satisfying to watch how the plot came together. Romance wasn’t overly dramatic which was surprising .I thought there would be more push and pull between the couple because of the historical setting but that wasn’t the case. There was no love triangle no annoying side characters which is so good to see. Yes there was some ridiculous plot lines but I didn’t mind it that much. You kinda have to turn off your brain to enjoy the story. Only annoying thing that almost made me drop the series was the stupid close up shots. It cheapened the acting and the story. Overall it was a nice drama 8.5/10
Would have been perfect until last few episodes, Princess Wanning died way too easily, It would have been nice…
in my opinion princess wanning didn’t die that easily it was cruel in its own way. In the end she truly realizes that no one ever loved her. Neither her her family nor her lover. All her life she was used and discarded without second thought. Even after her death she couldn’t pass away in peace. She was the only character that didn’t mention reincarnation. She really was sick of living and her resentment towards the world and herself was unbearable. But I agree on jiang family. They got away way too easily. Yes her stepmother went mad but she lived in comfort and in peace. I am sorry but I wouldn’t mind going mad if I could live peacefully in a nice house adorned with flowers. And her father just resigned from her position and that’s it?
I really don’t understand how this drama has such high ratings . I barely got to episode 5 and I just couldn’t take it anymore. As you said how many times can you use same flashback over and over again until it loses its appeal . It was not only annoying but also disgusting in a way. The way they used traumatic experience just to make viewers sad was so irksome.Romance was also really forced. The way they met and continued meeting each other was just superficial. Everything to get this nonexistent plot moving I guess. Also chemistry between the main love interests was nonexistent.Again as you mentioned it is probably won Jin ah’s lackluster acting. I have seen Lee jun ho’s two other works and he was pretty solid in them. Overall the drama was really ambitious but the execution was not great
An another level drama. A masterpiece.I think it will be one of the top drama in my list. Top Kdrama 2023.Very…
Yeap I feel the same. I will definitely want rewatch this but only in far future because it emotionally drained me. In a good way of course 😀. Also I went straight to a romcom but everything seems so superficial after this. everything was just on another level in this drama
I think this is one of the best dramas I’ve ever watched. I think I will compare every single thing I watch from now on to this. That being said I still think the last two episodes especially the final episode was really underwhelming? I don’t know how to say nicely. They took their time building every single plot line so meticulously and we came to that ending?
I think the drama deserved happy ending but how we came to this happy ending was done pretty poorly. So you are telling me that Lee Jung hyun who risked his life multiple times protecting others enjoyed “happy ending” with Gil chae while his little brother was rotting away in some unknown place??? really?? is that how we end this story?? There is no way he would just sit still he would definitely start looking for him that’s why the end scene felt really unsatisfying and unfinished. Also they really did my boy Ryang eum dirty. Was it really necessary to lock him up in asylum? why does he have to be the only sacrificial lamb. I don’t understand. Also there were some nitpicky stuff in last episode that felt like plot holes. There was no way for the ML to escape after they practically cornered him. The last battle in general was done pretty lazily. They built all the hype from the first episode about this scene but in the end everything was resolved pretty half heartedly. Same goes for the ML’s backstory. They just told us his life journey in such small time frame I was like is this it??. This issue may not be that important but I will still say it. How did the ML sustain himself in the forest for all that time. Let’s just assume the house was abandoned and he renovated but what about other other necessities? Time line was also messed up in the second half of the final episode. How long was ML missing? when did that coward scholar tell FL that he didn’t see ML’s corpse? And how long was Gil chae really searching for Lee hang hyun? That kind of stuff. When they first introduced the amnesia plot line I was like they will not ruin this story right??🥹🥹By the way I have so many negative things to say and am being so judgmental one might think I did not enjoy the story. But I really did. Everything was perfect until the last two episodes so that’s why these things are so noticeable to me. That being said they probably didn’t have enough time and crammed everything in the last episodes so I will end my rant here
If you want to watch something deep this one should be in your list. ML actor lived in this. The way he looks…
Totally agree. I would rewatch it again just to see the the main leads acting again. Drawn out scenes between couples in dramas always make me uncomfortable and I often skip those moments but here even those moments felt special and meaningful. you could feel their emotions in every word gesture or glance.
