I'm still a little nervous. I really hope Fan Yue's character doesn't stray too far from LXY's version. The reason why everyone loved his character is because he's a breath of fresh air. Not cold, still very loyal to his friends, knows when to quit but will absolutely do everything as long as he can. He's also playful, very smart, and cunning. I don't think I've seen another character in any drama that does that to some extent. I really hope I get to see that in ARP's version. Fingers crossed!

sadly, no. i read the novel translation some time ago and the only time the god arc was ever mentioned (before i dropped the book because blizzardahm's tl stopped updating) was when houchi took the chaos power from the pilgrimage hall. the flashback was during the time bai jue watched shanggu sacrifice herself to the tribulation.

in my opinion, had they started during the reincarnation arc, i don't think the drama would be as good because the god arc was an integral part of the story and we were able to root for the true gods' return to supremacy.

I'm not sure why this is so popular because I watched the drama up to episode 10 and feel... absolutely nothing. I love Cheng Xiao but acting is not her strong suit, she's just there... wearing the same face every other scene, and everytime she smiles, it looks like she's forced to do it. At this point on, I feel like the hype comes from CX/XK fans who are self-inserting themselves in Tong Yao's shoes because, really, this is very Y/N wattpad-y, but in e-sports genre.

Can I also share how much I tried not to sob the second I saw the Heaven and Earth Platform? The music, the scenery, how peaceful the gods looked while in deep sleep, Tianqi, Shanggu and Yuanqi finally coming home after 60,000 years. Zhi Yang, who has no idea how things had transpired with his brothers and sister for many years, waiting— all the while not knowing how long it took before he gets woken up again. It feels so poetic and bittersweet, even with all the happiness I felt for seeing them all together again.

I'm at a lost at how I have to stop myself from rewatching the God Realm arc while in the middle of the Immortal Realm arc because the angst is getting to me and I miss when things were all simple and dandy for half of the characters. 😭 Only ALP could do this to me without fail.

I love having epiphanies while rewatching this drama.

i'm gonna say this only once but sangjiu and mingye's story was far better than that of tantai jin and ye xiwu/li susu. the second the dream arc ended, i somehow lost interest and just went through it just so i can finish it.

there is, though brief. but i can say that it was all worth it!

Currently rewatching ALP again and I realized that Yuemi really had a hold in the whole story. If you guys don't want to watch ALP, I recommend that you guys watch the clips below:

During Tianqi's Destruction, Yuemi convinces the True Gods (Bai Jue, specifically) if she could try and talk Tianqi out of trying to kill both immortals and demons. They did not understand why he's acting out of character but Yuemi is adamant in telling them that he must've had a purpose as to why he's doing things, even when it could persecute him. In the end, she tells him that she'll follow him and support him, even if it could implicate her, as well. Then, things happened.

Shanggu, after Yuemi's death, also made a decree that Yuemi is the only Goddess of the Moon and Stars and no one else could take it until she comes back.

Tianqi is actually the Demon God. One of the Four True Gods who overlook all the Realms and is the God of Water. He's also called God of Destruction after trying to kill everyone in order to save the Chief Goddess of Chaos from sacrificing herself in her tribulation.

you actually watched episode 41 of a drama that has 49 episode so you missed a lot of things and the context of why they happened. i recommend watching it because it's really a recommended drama for xianxia.

I do recommend watching episode 1-16 so you'd understand their backstory because that's specifically the God Arc.

But to put it simply:
Yuemi was in love with Tianqi but Tianqi is in love with Shanggu (the Chief Goddess of Chaos who happens to be their bestfriend; TQ and YM basically raised her). TQ became ‘bad’, YM didn't believe that he became bad, so when someone attacked him, she protected him and ended up dying in his place. Wuhuan even convinced everyone that TQ killed her. Years went on and he felt guilty for what happened; but it's heavily alluded in the last parts of the series that he's finally accepted her love and is waiting for her reincarnation (if possible).

They're basically bestfriends to star-crossed lovers (that we never got).

— They grew up together in the God Realm and no one else but Tianqi knows that she was in love with him.
— When Wuhuan (villain in ALP) killed her, Tianqi collected her soul into a statue.
— It was believed that she reincarnated into the mortal girl that Hou Chi (reincarnation of the main protagonist in ALP) saved during the war between immortals and demons.
— Qing Mu (Bai Jue's reincarnation) trained her and became his disciple (just like in the God Realm) that is why she wants to cultivate into an immortal like them.
— Tian Qi created a Purple Moon at the Demon Realm to look at whenever he drinks because he and Yuemi were drinking partners; they basically did everything together. The Purple Moon is also the artifact that helped demons in their cultivation
— He promised at the end that he will love nobody else (except her, hehe). This was after he found out that Yuemi buried alcohol in his garden so he could have something to drink whenever she's not around.

— Just an assumption, Fan Yue (see, he's still using her name) is set on finding her so he could bring her back to the God Realm. He didn't really see her mortal form in ALP so he didn't make any connection with each other— so, I'm guessing this timeline is when Shang Gu is still kneeling for Bai Jue to come back.

— Yuemi, Bai Shuo in her Goddess form, is the Goddess of Moon and Stars, a Vanguard of the God Realm and the best swordman just below Bai Jue, the God of War.
— Tian Qi's Demon Lord moniker after his resurrection in the Demon Realm was Lord Zi Yue (which he later changed to Jing Yuan) means ‘Purple Moon’.
— Purple, because that is his color, and Moon because it's a nod to Yuemi after her unfortunate death.

okay, so from what i understand based on the backstory:

the devil master is qingli, the fox demon that kept clinging on senyu (demon king) who is still very much in love with changqin.

alp never got around to describing what happened to qingli because she killed the previous king (linmo's father) as well killing tianqi's (demon god, one of the four true gods) spirit beast by extension. i really thought she died back then. no wonder she's being so annoying after all this time, too. in the books, she kept teasing jingzhao (chenmin) into killing houchi (yuanqi's mom's immortal body) so she could have qingmu (yuanqi's dad's immortal body) all to herself.

that's sad. chasing the moon is already a great title.

just realized that dai si is on the cast list. will she be playing as chang qin again? i hope so!

Based from the leaks that I've heard while ALP was still airing, Bai Shuo was actually the mortal girl that Houchi and Qingmu saved during the war, the girl that lost her father. She was Yuemi's human reincarnation. The timeline feels wonky to me, though, because time runs faster in the mortal world so the kid should be long dead by the time CTM takes place. I could only think that Yuemi is going through her trials in order to ascend back to immortality then into godhood and Tianqi is doing the same as a way of finding her. True gods can be reborn, anyway, so Tianqi is still Tianqi. He goes where he wants to.

So, I just finished the first episode to see how the story would go. And as an avid fan of the parent drama, Ancient Love Poetry, this is my review.

I find it sad that this looks like a separate drama from Ancient Love Poetry all in all. They changed all the names of the characters I got used to so it got so confusing for me to figure out who was who from the prequel. Even the cinematography was downgraded, too. The effects looked off most of the time that it's hard to not notice just how meticulous the previous one was compared to this. While I am loving the storyline because Yuan Qi was my favorite character in the ALP, they took away some of the qualities that made him a fun character. I guess kids do grow up but it's hard to imagine that they were the same person (they even changed the whole bit about why he was sent to the Immortal Realm in the first place).

(Can I also say that the slow motion is jarring? It bothers me a lot. I don't know why they keep doing that.)

Anyway, I'll continue watching because ALP's world building has always been fascinating to me, I seem to find myself curious how the four main characters would become friends, too. For now, however, the beginning feels more gimmicky and less magical than ALP during the second arc. They could've just used actual locations that they already had before. Feng Ran's/Feng Yuan's home were one of my favorite sets before.
