I was actually thinking about this when I was reading the novel and the angst hit me. I think its written really smartly like he describes her fragrance when he's kissing her up close and her focus is on warmth of the lips and pressure. Feels balanced so they both feel connected in some way.

I think a lot also has to do with audience attention grab. Like many Xinxia fans like me will be ok with watching costume historical dramas but it won't be vice-versa in same numbers due to cgi aversion or niche genre like this one or LoTTI or Feud.

I think u need to get to atleast ep 4 to make the 8.5+ ratings make sense. Like ep3 was v good in many aspects that made me binge rest.

The hello saturday preview had me shooketh. I had never seen Riba willingly acting so closely with her CP co star haha. Plus her and liu yuning's reaction to Arthur's voice was chefs kiss.

Big spoiler haha. On point deduction tho. He's vying for Simu cause he 'likes her'. Cue 2ML. But this desire as an evil ghost is power. And author really hammers it that evil ghosts r always true to their desires. Hence 2ML turned villain for aiming for Simu's position. Might change from novel tho.

So for your Q - his sister doesn't. She doesn't know he was kidnapped and the brother she once saw was the Fang guy acting as Duan Xu.
ML's father knows about the fake cz he placed him there and was trying to kill him when our ML got back from enemy land and showed him he survived (that's how our ML saved him and became somewhat friends).

I didn't watch the ep7 before replying to you. They are doing it differently from the novel about the Fang guy who sent Duan Xi to battlefield - the 1st scholar. They introduced him via her descendants way early in drama -such scenes in
novel. He is friends with Duan Xu who saved him - not trying to kill him. He was the fake Duan Xu when our ML was kidnapped away. They r playing good cop bad cop basically deceiving everyone. Him and ML sister r 2nd CP I think.

He was also the Lil 6th prince in blossom in adversity! Really good acting there too!

Not explained in the drama yet cz waiting for a certain plot point probably - in novel she inhabits He Xiao Xiao's body incl inheriting her appearance. Here we can't tell because she retains her original spirit appearance which imo works better for drama continuity cz she does posses and take over men's body too. When we see her using magic and passing out - that's a result of her soul leaving He Xiao Xiao's body and following ML around. Real He Xiao Xiao is asleep as per their contract for 8 months for helping her escape her evil family.
