Exactly. Imo trying to be as objective as i can, its too early to call it a minimum 8 just for production and directing being top tier so far upto ep5 (would be a 9.5 for that). Like u said anything below atleast 8.4 is an insult for the quality shown so far. They would really have to fumble the plot and pacing badly (e.g. Our Universe) for it to go below 8.2 which they won't hopefully.

My only biggest complaint right now is why are the episodes so short at 35 minutes haha which is actually 32ish when u minus intro and ending. The pain T.T not being able to binge...

I would just ignore those. V early + bots antis could v well make the drama go to 7.9 by ep 20. Reba's LoTL was also massively down voted when it wasn't acc worth the 7.7 rating. Esp if Qing Luo has a 8.0 rating here (cue eye rolls). Big star productions r classically down voted moreso Reba's on MDL. Wait for the douban rating. I am rooting it crosses the 6.7 mark.

All evil ghosts as explained in novel but not in drama yet are driven by desires. Yan ke's desire power. I love his entry kn drama and intro which is different from novel but im pretty sure he won't be an anti hero. No sympathies for his wish for the ultimate power which is in Simu/Fl's hand if u get the drift.

One thing they did change is the timeline of ML's age when significant events started happening to gim. In novel he was 7 i think. Here i think they said 12. Which is also a tone down cz that was sadder tho. But it makes more sense imo cz no way a 7 yr old would ve survived what he did no matter how brilliant. They might clarify this more later so I might be wrong and they followed novel.

Pretty close. The only difference novel is more graphic about how she interacts with spirit world like she was supposed to be drenched in blood in their first meeting which has changed obv. In novel they can explain a lot about rules and history and world building around them. I rather like they didnt in the drama cz then we r basically being told what is happening. Here we we are being shown instead where is rare in adapted dramas - Zhou Qin is amazing director. I recommend novel if u want more background like what FL is thinking about ML in her head (something i thought they should have monologued). Its insightful but u gotta set expectations realistic to what can be adapted in the drama.

Depends how much they show honestly. While ML past is super sad things like next battle or event for story to move happen a lot fairly quickly. We get an intro to why he is the way he is - hint: maniacal or laughter all the time)- thru his past intro. They slightly toned down Simu/FL entry into the story with only implying how she takes the soul and not eats them to fill hunger. And how she sticks around battlefields for this reason. Lots of implications and less novel exposition. Maybe ML backstreet might be similar. Emotionally destroying also depends how good acting and directing for 'those' scenes r too really. In short, its not going to be scarlet hreo/uncontrollably fond lvl sadness. U r good to proceed.

The director is directing and the leads are serving. I didn't realise i was holding my breath when he was tying her veil. THE ANGLES omg. Chemistry is fire and the music during the battle season was epic in ep 3. I just wish episode 3 was longer than 35 mins. Does anyone know where I can find the tune simu/reba was playing?

I finally gave in and made an MDL account for this drama. The wait has me in chokehold. Really hope this is 'THE' drama of the year esp for babao
