I'm not a Chinese citizen, btw. Just an international C-drama fan trying to even the playing field.

The Korean entertainment industry has a long history of offending other countries & cultures, including but not limited to: China, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Muslims, Arabs, Black people. All of these offended parties have protested their portrayal & treatment in K-drama & K-pop productions, but only China gets criticized because MDL writes clickbait articles about it, stirring up controversy to attract koreaboos (from whom you understandably wish to dissociate) like moths to a flame.

Let's say thousands, or even tens of thousands of Chinese netizens are protesting this K-drama, that's at most 0.002% or 0.003% of China's citizenry. From what I understand, there's barely a peep about this on Chinese social media. Essentially, MDL made up a "commie pinko" boogeyman at whom the majority of their membership (koreaboos) can direct unsolicited cheapshots just to generate revenue.

As a relatively new MDLer, at first this didn't bother me. But the obvious anti-China & anti-Cdrama biases kept popping up over & over, so I decided to speak up. It's not life or death or anything. But as a matter of principle, it bugged me. Maybe I'll take a break from MDL for a while.

Last but not least , speaking of being "blatantly stupid," making broad generations about a group of people based on a tiny, trivial percentage is "blatantly stupid."

Doing so on the basis of country of origin is xenophobic. Doing so on the basis of culture & ethnicity is rac1st.

Assuming netizenship is relatively proportional to citizenship, all South Korean netizens combined would make up only slightly more than 3% of China's netizenry.

Apparently, the OP is a bonafide koreaboo from Bermuda. (Each & every one of the dramas on her/his/their watchlist is from S. Korea.)

Given that they don't seem to have any problems with how K-dramas & S. Korean TV variety shows portray & offend Black people by having their "idols" wear "blackface," gold jewelry, tattoos, fake dreadlocks & other stereotypical attire &accessories, it's fairly obvious that they're racist, but probably not the type you imagine.

More specifically, they've internalized their racism to such an extent that they're (subconsciously or even, unconsciously) racist against their own. Basically, they're self-haters that are misdirecting their hatred from where it rightfully belongs: to the racist brainrot in the K-dramas & K-pop that they mindlessly consume.

So when they hear even a tiny, trivial percentage of the billion+ Chinese netizens rightfully protesting what they should've been doing all along, they lash out & bash them.

Yes, I currently live & work in NYC. I appreciate food as well as food history & culture.

But "foodie" makes me a sound like a food snob, which I'm not. I often eat street food. Partly because I'm frugal, but mostly because I like it.

Despite openly solicitating international audiences since the beginning of the 21st century, South Korea has repeatedly & consistently offended other peoples & cultures. Occasionally, they'll manage to offer insincere, half-hearted apologies towards this or that offended party only to offend the same party immediately thereafter.

If MDL comments sections are any indication, according to koreaboos, it's never South Korea's fault that their K-drama & K-pop products are culturally insensitive & offensive. It's because other countries & cultures are overly sensitive & too easily offended.

Let's forget that South Koreans are the first to cry foul if and when they perceive they're being victimized. Take the recent incident at the Hyundai plant in Atlanta, GA. They complain about being treated like sh1t, but if you don't want to be treated like sh1t, then don't do illegal sh1t like entering other countries with invalid & non-working visas.
