i was just thinking about how insane this sounded too π€£ especially because... shuran attempted to kill him!!!!!…
i just rewatched that scene and i definitely agree with you about it being a plot device lol. added in to force a certain outcome, even if it doesn't make much sense πͺ
The imperial shaman was pushed over the edge to kill the fl based on a βI was pregnant and she insisted on taking…
i was just thinking about how insane this sounded too π€£ especially because... shuran attempted to kill him!!!!! why would he believe that she cared about their unborn child!! why would he believe anything she said at all!!
it is the evil step mom! i think your confusion comes from her other pregnancy. she was pregnant with the imperial…
yeah, i agree, she probably already had lost the child and then used JL as the scapegoat. i just wasn't sure about the timeline between wencai & shuran.
so its something like: wencai & shuran are lovers > shuran is forced to marry JYB > RY is born > shuran sleeps with wencai & then sets him on fire?
I'm only on episode 14, but why do I get the feeling that her husband does know its her, and he is just pretending…
i think he always knew in his heart, but did things (like digging up her grave) to soothe his own denial. but, as the story progresses, there are just too many similarities between XFF and JL for him to deny it anymore.

the timeline is a little confusing to me, honestly π€£ but from my understanding, yes, she was already pregnant when she married jiang yuan bai. **nevermind, this is wrong, the comments below explain the timeline!
Who is the biogical mother of Ruo Yao? I thought it was the evil stepmom. Did I miss something?
it is the evil step mom! i think your confusion comes from her other pregnancy. she was pregnant with the imperial diviner's child, but used JL as a means to hide it from her husband (by saying JL killed her child).
The latter is my guess. I donβt think YK ever thought this drama would be a wild success.
+1. definitely seems like they weren't expecting this popularity π i also get this vibe bc they chose to air this against fox spirit matchmaker, if things had gone differently it would have gotten overshadowed for sure.
Is it just me or the ghost possession arc feels a bit random? It might make sense in the novel due to the original…
i agree, i haven't read the novel so not sure how it's handled there. but based on some other comments, seems like they're combining things & skipping around a little bit to fit the episode constraint. πͺ
I never thought I would say this..but I actually feel a bit bad for Ruoyao. Sure, she is a spoiled, mean, selfish…
i agree! at least in this adaptation, i think ruoyao is a redeemable character & this episode was her turning point. they're really playing up the whole "sheltered little girl" thing and i do feel sympathy for her. this is all she knows, this is the first time she's being exposed to life outside of her bubble. i'm willing to root for her as long as she doesn't revert, because i'd really love to see a bond form between her & JL.
novel seems to be very long, so i'm not super surprised that they're starting to combine/rush some things.. but there was absolutely no lead in to this so it caught me off guard π
