i dont mind people saying this is not their cup of tea, that they got bored and found it lacking. what i mind a bit more is “this show IS boring cos i got bored” type of thing. a respectable review, even when casual, make a distinction between “i didnt like it” and “its bad”. that its hard to do when you dont like something, perhaps because the last thing you then wanna do is engage deeper by asking why? now if you find this show genuinely poor of quality and you think thats why you didnt like it, well then our perspectives are too divergent to even justify a conversation on that topic 🥲

i would like to know which is your case. do you not like it cos you think its bad, or do you not like it cos something about it gave it away as not your cuppa tea?

i prefer a male lead who fucks up because he is also affected by his own trauma than a character who keeps his promise with inhuman determination because “its more romantic”. is it tho? if he doesnt have to overcome anything how is it shown how much he loves her? i want a well written character not a perfect imaginary boyfriend stand in. guys remember, your faves should fuck up it doesnt make them bad people especially if they correct their actions well and as soon as it’s possible for them

hm, well i guess i take your point, that type of execution even if done very well could not be enough for some people. you might need more simulation or something so you dont enjoy this style.

the only thing is that stuff i mentioned pay off big time but only if you stick around. so how would you know if you are impressed or not drop it before it completes itself?

regardless it can be argued its a show’s job to captivate you, not yours to try. but as you can see most of us find little to no struggle with this area and are feeling the satisfaction of having the capacity to be captivated by rich subtle acting and setup.

i cant know this is what’s happening with you, but its a documented thing now that people’s attention spans are going down drastically, do you think there a chance that could also be the main issue for reactions like yours even if yours isnt that?

i feel its not too much of a leap and it makes sense.

im a character person, im an acting person. if a show plot-wise is not “bombastic”, thats no issue as long as the character and acting are well written and performed. i have friends who cant notice what i notice about acting choices or character choices, so i am aware not eveyone appreciates the same things when experiencing a story. maybe your taste focuses more on plotting, in that case fair enough

i think based of everything you said and my own observation this isnt for me. i think this portrayal of a smart female character is unearned and cringe. i hate that most people uu and ahh at her in the first 3 eps and that all she achieves she lucked into from gaining that family’s favor by happenstance. to be honest i think this all signals poor character writing so i should skip 🥲

tell me you cant be asked to pay attention without telling me you cant be asked to pay attention.

this has SO much subtle foreshadowing, so much depth and richness to its quiet moments, you are missing out.

i guess there are always other options out there tho, dont waste your time if you dont click with thia type of thing

i had fun and enjoyed PoJ but it wishes it was as well written as this so far is. PoJ wouldve been a fave if the second half could deliver on the promises made by the first. PoJ is fun, cute, sexy, and easy to like. This is not always easy to watch but its (so far) incredibly well crafted in all aspects.

omg i read reviews and i think the reasons to eyeroll are gonna be innumerable. ill stick to it until ep10 then reevaluate if there is enough worth continuing

its funny to me when they write a “badass” female character and dont properly show how harsh that time period would be for such a person. doesnt fill me with confidence on the character writing department.

im just starting but the FL wouldn’t get far in that world if she hadn’t lucked out by finding the backing she did from the start. she is a blunt instrument in how she approaches everything. no finesse, little tact, making many enemies before even knowing how far this royal family will back her.

this deserves over 8.6, i loved fated hearts and that’s 8.7 but its in NO WAY better, its great but the only thing it has over this is that it’s inherently a sexier setup. but this beats it in all other aspects.
