im mixed on the “unsatisfying judgement” part. on one hand i get what they are trying to say, and it could’ve been interesting in the hands of better writers. especially better character writers

it was however often unsatisfying

as a bai lu stan, i agree. i do think this character suits her but i think it was underwritten and the entire show was very mediocre

criticism or expressing disappointment, or not feeling it for whatever reason isnt hate. taste is personal.

lol, no im just picky with acting and have high standards. for instance no male actor uses his eyes to act better than cheng lei, he is a great actor. so are many of the popular ones. boyond that i never would claim my opinion as objective, and ive watched MANY dramas with the ML here in Jadewind because the fandom swayed me. i can understand that you all see something i dont in him and since it often happens the other way around im not invalidating that.

im just expressing my feelings like you all are.

i have a hard time with him also, for that reason and the fact that he is a weak actor overall and has had more experience than youd think for how young he is therefore ample opportunity to prove himself. the double is his best performance but even so, its not spectacular and the character’s quirks are doing some heavy lifting.

its… really bad. theres nothing convincing in why toma likes natsume. it seems like a toma whim more than anything and it undermines any investment i have in the pair.

the romance is not properly built, its shallow and anemic. i mean maybe its right there in the title but i didnt expect this show to be so committed to shallowness, in and out of its world.

bai lu is amazing. fantastic actor across the board and can provide immense gravitas to her characters when they need it. many Chinese actresses are pretty and get cast in bad ass roles yet fail to truly embody those roles and give those characters proper impact and aura. she never fails!

i love both MM and the last immortal so im so excited 😆

really liked ep29, pei yi is sooooo cool!!
however they dont have a lick of chemistry. i dont buy their gazes to eachother as love, its the most unconvincing ive seen in a bai lu drama

huge title downgrade from “Chasing Jade” - objectively cooler, better, catchier

to “Pursuit of Jade” - less impact, lame compared to the original presumed title

this is, well “weak” doesnt really cover it. japanese BL are so hit and miss. this one is embarrassing

kisses are not bad, not particularly good. nothing like in Love in the Clouds, both in quantity or quality.

oh also, the romance is good-ish? idk how to answer, its friends to lovers. they are mostly in constant harmony

i think this is also how i felt. im like… this was mid, but everyone is hyping it up. i guess its an easy to digest crowd pleaser but nothing special, nothing substantial, nothing unique or interesting.

i personally have a personal problem with presenting children so young as evil. so id hate the novel, for slightly different reasons

i know dude, thats why they should have extended compassion to such a young child who has gone through all that after the queen passed. thats exactly my point. now the ML may struggle, understandably, but the FL is shown to be caring and empathetic so… where is it for an abused, used, child in the prime time for parental guidance ?!
