Okay, hear me out sisters — I actually really liked how ML slowly pieced everything together, with her help of course. He realized that the attacks she’s been through weren’t just random trauma, but something deep and personal.. It shows he’s been paying attention and connecting the dots, and that was so satisfying to see 👏
But psychologically speaking, most cases of dissociative identity disorder (DID) are deeply rooted in trauma — often involving violence or abuse. Now that he’s realizing her shifts aren’t just because of guilt or her friend’s death, but tied to something far more personal and painful… I really felt he should’ve stayed and approached her with more care.
Even if she was being nasty or said hurtful things — that was her pain lashing out. That’s exactly when she needed someone to stay and fight for her, not walk away. He didn’t need to fix her, just be there. That kind of support would’ve meant everything in that moment. Maybe I’m being too emotional, sorry — I just really wanted that scene to feel more real and meaningful between them.
The transition scene between her two personalities was really well done — you could feel the emotional shift, and she nailed that overwhelmed, tearful energy 👏
BUT I think it could’ve been even more powerful if she gave the hidden personality a bit more edge — like some nasty, sassy, maybe even slightly ugly expressions. A touch of sharpness or menace would've made the contrast really pop 🔥
Sometimes she came off more like a spoiled brat than a truly tormented soul, and that softened the impact a bit. Still, I really appreciate the emotional depth she brought to the scene!
Very nice comparison between novel and drama adaptation of the characters. Thanks for this info. Cao is definitely…
Awww thank you!! 🥰 And yesss, you nailed it — they’re the most chaotic little found family ever, but when it counts? Boom, fully functional monster-hunting squad 😂
Cao being the whiny baby of the group is so real — always grumbling, but deep down he’s totally the heart of the team ❤️Thanks for your feedback , I really appreciate it! 🙏
As for the chicken… I’m still holding out hope it shows up soon, dropping ancient wisdom like it’s been silently judging everyone the whole time 🐔 😂
Chubby mudai and luo ten we didn’t get into their characters yet. But till now they have shown true to the book,…
Haha true! But honestly, Chubby (or should I say Cao Yanhua 😂) gives off an even more protective vibe in the book. Like, big softie with a punch ready at all times 💪They toned him down a bit, but he’s still holding it down!
You know, I actually went to the book just to see if the actress is doing well and giving the right vibe — so far, so good! But let’s see how it goes later 👀
Yesss exactly! We’ve still got relics to chase and action-packed chaos waiting in those locations —so hopefully this “dark personality” phase doesn’t stall the team too long.
BUT, I do want them to dig into her trauma more too. Like yeah, give us the fights, but also give us the emotional wreckage and healing arc .Let her face her demons, literally and mentally!
LOL yesss hopefully it’s the badass queen side and not the full-on villain arc 😂 I’m dying to see how our ML reacts—he’s either gonna be shocked, impressed… or both 🔥
To all the drama fans and book readers — I’ve been trying to compare the characters from The novel with how they’re shown in the drama 🧐
It’s just my take so far, so if I got anything wrong or missed something, feel free to jump in and correct me! I’d actually love to hear your thoughts 🙌
I’m planning to do a comparison for the plot and big events later too, but for now this one's all about the characters — how they’ve changed, what stayed the same, and who sadly didn’t make it yet into the drama (yes, I’m emotional about the chicken 🐔😭)
Mu Dai (the brainiac) Book Vibes - Haunted genius with layers of trauma and zero social battery. Keeps solving relic cases while barely holding it together. A queen of inner chaos. Drama Vibes -Still haunted but looking flawless while trauma-ing. More emotionally open, gives soft stares, cute look..
Luo Ren (the swordsman) Book Vibes -Stone-faced. Loyal. Would fight a demon with a stick if needed. The kind of man who says 2 words per week but protects like a beast. Drama Vibes -Tall, broody, gives intense eye contact and great-slow-motion fight moves. Lowkey emotionally repressed but you KNOW he cares.
Yi Wan San (comic relief king) Book Vibes - Goofy, nosy, and always saying what everyone’s thinking—but also weirdly smart when needed. He’s the chaotic glue. Drama Vibes -Still funny, still nosy, but drama tones him down a bit. Feels more like "reliable friend" than "gremlin energy."
Yan Hongsha (the femme fatale) Book Vibes -Gorgeous, deadly, and definitely hiding secrets. Femme fatale with a sword and an agenda. Drama Vibes -Drama made her more human, less mystery. Still badass, but more about teamwork and less about lurking in the shadows.
Cao Yanhua Book Vibes - Big softie with a scary face. Will throw hands and hug for you . 10/10 would babysit a ghost lol.. Drama Vibes -He is solid support role, funny and brings warm big-bro energy.
And there is Shen Gun or Kun who is mysterious, maybe even more in the drama. Doesn’t get too much screen time, but you know he’s Important..
CAO. JIE. FANG. THE CHICKEN. 🐔 YES, a literal talking chicken. Sarcastic, dramatic, and maybe cursed. Brings chaos and commentary. Honestly my favorite BUT in the drama said: “Chicken? Never heard of her.” Hope it will come later...😤 The emotional loss is real. We deserved live-action sass-bird. 😂
If the book cast is a haunted circus full of trauma and chaos —the drama cast is the same crew but with better lighting, more stares....
So yes, drama is cute. But the book? The book had a freaking chicken with attitude. 🐔 😂 😂 😂
The novel translations here linked in the thread are quite choppy and does not flow well. The original text honestly…
Totally agree! feel a bit rough around the edges — like they’re missing the rhythm or tone..Still, I’m trying to dig into it to make some comparisons between the drama and the book!
Sis, you don’t want a man like that. 🤣 His promise sounds like a psychological defense mechanism rooted in…
Absolutely—He isn’t just broken, he’s layered. You can feel it in how he acts, how he keeps people at a distance. His journey could be one of the most moving parts of the story.

She’s not here to save the day—she’s here to wreck it in leather, smirk while doing it 💀 😂
