One of the best c-dramas of 2024 for me, rewatched it several times. Esther Yu and the character herself is so refreshing, love the emphasis on friendship and found family in this. She went in there to overturn the cliché evil-second-lead female plot and turned it into a precious drama where the main villain isn't some petty second lead that keeps causing misunderstandings. and the end was eye opening.
Who cares how old she is, people who don't know her will think she's that age. So many high school dramas I watched in the beginning of my k-drama years a decade ago, when i wasn't familiar with k-actors , only to find out they were in their early to late 20s.
Sometimes production need the star power to return the investments and pay staff, as well as companies endorsing because of the star and good reputation, and sometimes a sort of nuanced acting that only a grown adult can give.
I don't think it will be that good. The only thing that might make this good is because of Zhang Ruo Yun. I have…
I hate cast changes too, but when you said Esther Yu I was like ooh, actually I might not mind, I've been a fan since watching "I've fallen for you" and after Love Between Fairy and Devil, I'm here for it! Still for continuity sake, the same actors would be good, as long as they ain't changing Fan Xian. The actor carried season 1 and we barely saw the FL. it'd be like changing Arthur Chen for Dylan Wang in Ever Night 2 (I think I just have a problem with changing the face of someone I saw every episode for 40+ EPs) Still haven't watched that yet; but I think the quality of that production went down a bit for that anyway.
they're gonna have chemistry, their face is giving off vibes, like how real life couples look slightly like each other. reminds me of Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji in IONTBO
it's a fantasy melodrama with a missing sister... sounds serious enough
I just checked the previous works from the writer, I loved Hello Monster and Suspicious Partner was great (missed the end cos themes were too deep but loved the story) I'm kind of excited now if it's going to be similar, like a dark thriller comedy situation
Is this comedy? I wish he'd do a light and funny drama again! His playful characters are so awesome! (King of High School and Shopping King Louie), He's great in dark stuff too though, you wonder how he goes from sweet in one drama to a bit psycho in another XD
I've only ever seen him in as a lead in a web drama comedy, kinda excited he's getting first lead in a bigger production, his acting skills always seemed bigger than a supporting character, second lead or first lead all the way.
i love jung so min but she needs to start picking better dramas... how many times will she do something with the…
Soul Mechanic, The Smile Has left your eyes, did you watch those? The only similarity i see is with Because this is my first time and that's for the word house and landlord.
Why does everyone seem to dislike the actor playing the male lead?
For me, it's because the only drama I saw him (as not male lead), he was like...evil and a scumbag, so I'm still reeling from the evillness, I wish he took up some second lead roles where he was the typical second lead, nice to a fault, let viewers develop that SL syndrome where the ML is the POS and he's all nice and stuff. All I keep recalling is that character in Moonshine and Valentine haha XD.
Okay I like her. I have seen some of her dramas such as TROTAR and DITK. I liked her until I saw some sources…
Money can't buy talent, I'm not even going to sit here and believe third hand rumor, because your knowledge is also second hand. There are people who buy their way into things but their talent gets them dropped pretty fast. It's clearly her talent moving her places. I clicked on her profile because I wanted to see what new comedy work she'd be taking part in, I can't even remember some of her male co-stars.
I know you may think that celebs are so huge, one little mistaken rumour that you accidentally spread isn't too bad, but why not make sure something is what you definitely know before spreading it around? "sources on Weibo, twitter and insta. Many sources on Weibo say", That's not what you know for sure, and i'm not even sure you've verified these sources either. Other people will then take your unverified information and spread it around too, just like you did. We see people slandering the people in dramas all the time and we hate those people and say "how can someone ruin another's name like this, they don't even know her, they just read gossip somewhere" and yet here we are, IRL, not a drama.
I think Goblin and TVN did something to Korean dramas as well: Beautifully directed, cinematic shorts with very deep songs in the background, slow and dramatic moments and several displays of expensive yet tasteful fashion. All these things existed before in a cheesy, garish form, and it was refined to very high quality in Goblin. Not only the plot was an art but the visuals and music were too.
Anyway after Goblin, i noticed most dramas starting to do their music and visuals that way. While you were sleeping, Hotel Del Luna, It's okay not to be Okay.
Let's just say after Goblin, the bar was set high for me on the level of quality for the filming of dramas, (direction and pace, grading, music, and combined aesthetics with clothing).

side note, the above currently says Kim Ji Hoon is playing Denver and Hellsinki? dual roles or a typo?
