Omg just saw the poster March 28th. This is the best news. The treatment to drama withdrawal is having another lined up. I am now set until May with Reba and IUs drama.
They took the thing of him not revealing his true identity a step too far, for my liking. That final scene had…
I am rereading the novel and noticed something important. In the beginning when he was injured he had many reasons to conceal his identity. The main reasons were: 1. His enemies 2. The opinion of common people (he had a rep of being brutal). But as FCY explained when she spoke good things about him in front of the memorial tablet, common people do not hate the Marquis. His mistake of course which he will explain soon is he lost the opportunity to tell her and let it drag on.
I do not know why people are criticizing the female leads mentally...sure she made some questionable decisions but she was brought up in a village living a simple life. Never in her wildest dreams would she think the Marquis will marry her and lied time and time again. Her actions are quite reasonable mostly although they did mess up the prisoner thing. It was much better in the book how she got the food.
Seeing the comments, I just realized I didn’t even notice that there were no scenes of the main couple together…
I honestly got a bit bored before the separation when they were in the village selling meat. Then from ep 16 till now fully engrossed. People watch dramas for different reasons. I have always enjoyed angst and melodrama. Fluff bores me. Besides given the source material, it is necessary for her to grow on her own.
I read some spoiler said that ZX become crazy rich like NXG dad but still living in the past still reminiscent…
ZX dated others but broke up with them. He is still friends with his ex and she said he didn't do anything wrong. He was a gentleman but she felt lonely by his side. It is just his character. Alex in the novel was a guy and this is shown from their conversations. He apologies to NXG when they meet after 10 years.

What I wrote wasn't a criticism. Just justification of the time line. It would be ridiculous to set the timeline now 2025 about a subject matter that has yet to be proven. It is because of this very global dominance that we know now, that they can confidently showcase such things in the drama.
without major spoiler, does anyone know why this is in 2012? will there be a large time jump? I'd understand if…
The writer Gu Man carries modern patriotism that’s very deliberate, but never loud. 2012 China became the leading producer of solar panels. The very business NXG is working at now. I suppose for a more authentic timeline. And of course the drama is based on a novel. But the novel was never really this detailed about business so they could have changed the timeline. However to showcase this industry (solar panels) they had to go back if that makes sense. It's also what makes such dramas popular. That patriotism.
I don't care what anyone says, as long as the drama shows the ugly reality of being an idol, cancel culture, stalking, keyboard warriors, will continue to watch this show!!! Satirical or inspired by the messy truth glad someone is showing how nasty 'fans' can be
Confession: I saw the trailer, rolled my eyes and said boring. Then after the holidays with nothing to watch stumbled on this again. So finally checked Mydramalist and realized it is Gu Man's Blazing Sunlight which I read but did not finish as our Turtle was not finished writing at the time. I remember loving the story so binged watched 8 episodes yesterday. Lucky me I started late.
I understand many say there was not really a decent conversation between NXG and ZX, how can she like him so much. As crushes goes or first love goes she loved the idea of him. And for some time he was within reach Mutual acquaintances and friends. I too still think of someone in my life like this often and we barely spoke to each other but he was in my life for about 10 years. He would give us a ride home from university to our home town when we car pooled. Come over and spend time with my brother. I knew what was going on in his life all the time. Now 20 years later, I still think of him fondly for witnessing my embarrassing moments as well as stirring those chaotic feelings. And if that doesn't make sense, think isn't our male lead the same? How he liked NXG is almost parallel to how she liked ZX initially....
They made it more believable
1. His enemies
2. The opinion of common people (he had a rep of being brutal).
But as FCY explained when she spoke good things about him in front of the
memorial tablet, common people do not hate the Marquis.
His mistake of course which he will explain soon is he lost the opportunity to tell her and let it drag on.
