I've watched only 3/10 dramas: "Long Vacation", "Beautiful Life" and "Hanzawa Naoki" and I can see why numbers don't lie: these dramas deserved to be hits! I will definitely add some of the rest in my PTW list! Thanks a lot for the article :)
After the major childish cliche the screenwriters decided to follow, the only interesting thing for me are the moments between the "mama boy" attorney and the "lovestruck" attorney...
Nothing is worst than wasting your time on a bad drama.
You're right! After all, there are too many dramas, but too little time :D But, to be honest, for some of them (e.g. "Queen of Mystery 2") I just couldn't bring myself to drop them :(
Really loved your article, your comments for each drama and your sense of humor in it! "Mr. Sunshine: It had a lot of moments but very little else." so true :D … and, on a more serious note, I also mourn the loss of 16 hours (or more) of my life to the disappointment that some of the dramas you mentioned (and some more) were... Looking forward to a similar article of yours soon :D
Very well-researched, detailed and beautifully presented! I learned a lot of interesting things about this cinema legend! Kurosawa's movies with Mifune were my introduction to the Japanese culture when I was young... and they surely were an inspiration for many adaptations, remakes etc worldwide! And, yes, I would love to read more guides like this from you dear @OAL ♡
I've seen all the dramas listed, except "The Village: Achiara's Secret", and I enjoyed them all. Nice choices, indeed :D
But, what exactly are the criteria for determining a drama as underrated? Ratings? Number of watchers? Both? 'Cause half of them have been watched by more than 12,000 people and all of them are rated from 8,0 and above... So, imo only "Cross" could be considered as underrated in this list, since, unfortunately, it has only 3,271 watchers... So, if the threshold would be an MDL rating above 8,0 with less watchers than 5,000, I would mark as underrated the following dramas I've watched: Dear my Friends, Five Enough, Life, Memory, Mistress, Misty, Miracle that We Met, Money Flower, Woman of Dignity.
I'm going to echo some of the comments here. Why is the rating so low? This is a hidden gem and I'm glad I heeded…
Totally agree with you! It's really sad that it is so underrated... I haven't been so entertained by a comedy since "Feel Good to Die" (another hidden gem...)
cmon platonic do no wrong i mean its basically a friendship just deeper. being sexually attracted is where i would…
Yes... just the thought of it sends shivers down my spine... Someone lurking around and messing with the unripe mind of teens, who go through their rebellious phase (do the opposite of everything they should be doing and of what their parents' advise them to do - you know the feeling!) and can't yet clearly distinguish friendship, love and lust... the most unhealthy introduction to their adult life...
I will definitely add some of the rest in my PTW list!

… and the cutest dad ever!
Solid plot, well-casted actors, magnificent performances!
Heart-racing, heart-breaking, thought-provoking... epic!
