Talking about SFLs for once is so interesting! Kudos for your article :) Probably the only SFL that almost caused me a SLS is Kang So Ra in Doctor Stranger: she was way better than Jin Se Yeon and had way more chemistry with Lee Jong Suk!
A groovy, smooth-watching short drama, full of music and sweetness! Kim Sung Chul and Choi Yoo Ri' s performances were fantastic and their chemistry as siblings was stellar! Really looking forward to their next project!
An enjoyable drama, with some interesting investigation-forensic stories and 'loud' cast. The highlights were the anti-social Dr. Baek Beom and flirting Stella! Definitely watching season 2
A very easy-to-watch drama, funny and lighthearted, but a bit messy and with some unnecessary/unresolved side-stories. [The most frustrating and unnecessary part was, of course, the "evil mother-in-law" cliché...] The love-friendship triangle was the best ever: the romance was very cute and natural, while the bromance was cool and heartfelt - the strongest point of the whole drama! All three main leads were charismatic, but Jang Hyuk's outshined everyone and everything - the coolest hyung ever!
A refreshing slice of (legal) life drama, which deals with some important and controversial social subjects presented with diverge and conflicting points of view. The highlights were Lee Elliya and Ryu Deok Hwan with their cute romance, and definitely Sung Dong Il with his incredible acting. Both Go Ah Ra and L were surprisingly way above average, as they successfully managed to portray their demanding characters. This is perhaps Go Ah Ra's best performance, I would say!
I really don't get why a single young man (or woman) in his late twenties is labeled as a player for being in 2-3 healthy relationships during a period of 5 years or so... Imagine if he stayed with the same woman! Wouldn't we find the romance boring and flat?
He made judge han come completely alive, and in such a way that i think a lot of people fell a little in love…
His roles in "Live", "It's OK, That's Love" and "Reply 1988" were some of my favs! If you haven't watched these dramas, give them a try - totally worth it! :)
I would like to add It's Okay That's Love to that list bc man Gong Hyo Jin can act really well portray that 3…
I agree! I've already watched it twice and, even though I sometimes found her reactions a bit annoying, her character was really well-presented and developed. But, to tell you the truth, all the dramas from Noh Hee Kyung that I have watched (Live, The Most Beautiful Goodbye, Dear My Friends, It's Okay That's Love , That Winter The Wind Blows, Padam Padam, The World That They Live In) are exceptional and in my Top-List! Thanks for reminding them to me! :)
Thanks for your article and your additional comments! :) They really triggered a very interesting 'conversation'!
During my leisure time I really enjoy watching and reading stories (in dramas, movies and books) of different genres from all around the world and, depending on their origin, their group target and -of course- budget and expected earnings, many stereotypes and prejudices (sexist, social, religious, cultural, political, etc.) are almost always unavoidably present. Probably that's the main reason why the most complaints are made from the 'outsiders'. But, when talking about female characters in particular, the harshest criticism comes mostly from women, which is not very surprising, as women are usually the main group target and female characters are mostly written from a male perspective, therefore not so well depicted and developed!
Personally, what I really want to watch (or read) is a story with realistic females involved: not some emotionless dolls or petty single-dimensional caricatures, but multi-dimensional and multi-tasking women, with their ups and downs, strengths and flaws, inner powers and weaknesses. I love to see passionate women full of emotions, worries and spirit about everything: their love and sex life (yes! we do have and its not a peck on the cheek or a piggyback), dreams and future, family, friends and enemies, jobs, but mostly themselves... Women who make miracles or the stupidest things, women who are selfish or selfless, sacrificial or manipulating, self-confident or insecure, with or without a backbone, lucky or unlucky in love.
So, even if some not necessarily very realistic but well-written and well-developed female characters appear, I find myself really enjoying and high-scoring the whole story! They do exist, but usually not in popular clichéd romcoms. Some of my favorites are: Life on Mars, Avengers Social Club, Stranger, Woman of Dignity, Miracle We Met, Ms. Temper & Nam Jung Gi and many more...
What a family these four wounded souls formed! Phenomenal performances, from both mother and son, captivating atmosphere, too emotional climax for my weak heart to handle... Totally worth my tears!

It was one of the best moments of this drama, so far!

The comments' session will be on fire!
Sorry, Lee Sang Yoon!
Even the white truck of doom couldn't save it...
