With many beautiful buildings, designs and dishes, detailed and compelling narration, and some very thoughtful quotes, this little gem was a breath of fresh air in between some more complex and demanding dramas. Time well-spent :)
I’m watching Ha Kyun in beyond evil right now and if his acting is as good in this movie as it is in that drama,…
Liked Shin Ha Kyun very much in 'Pied Piper' and 'Inseparable Bros' :) imo '100 Days my Prince' doesn't do Kyung Soo much justice. You should check 'Hello Monster', 'It's Okay, That's Love', 'My Annoying Brother' and 'Swing Kids' to appreciate his acting skills xD
A slow paced, subdued and atmospheric period themed story, at the outset of the WW2, about trust and deception, loyalty and betrayal, choices and convictions, espionage-like mind games. Among its strongest elements were definitely the elegant performances of delicate Aoi Yu and suave Takahashi Issei, as well as the well-fitted music and the exceptional costumes and colouring.
A story about a single parent that struggles to cope with continuously worsening family situations, while looking for his bride-to-be and caring for a baby that is not his biological son. Interesting concept, but a rather lukewarm approach. Definitely a one-man show for talented Lee Yi Kyung.
Through the heartbreaking story of a man who looks after his deceased boyfriend’s elderly mother and young son, this delicate film explores the social prejudice, judgment and misunderstandings towards homosexuality, as well as the limits of love, acceptance, trust, regret and forgiveness in such a complex family. A superb nuanced and subdued performance from Mo Tzu-Yi.
“If I were a woman, and my husband died but I stayed with his family to care for them, would you be asking the same questions?”
A bittersweet road movie about an aging, estranged from his family, photographer who takes a last trip trying to wrap up the few remaining loose ends of his life.
A very gripping, grim and compelling sci-fi thriller, full of twists, with a great dystopian setting and an electrifying, powerful performance from Chang Chen.
A wonderful heartwarming story about the special mother-daughter bonding, with masterfully balanced funny and touching moments, without being overly imposing and dramatic and exceptional performances from Hashimoto Ai and Miyazaki Aoi.
A delicate, empathetic, deeply moving road movie, that explores the child-abduction problem in China. Wonderful camera work that generously gifts us with the beauty of rural China, great natural, subtle performances from Andy Lau and Jing Bo Ran.
Ozu Yasujiro was way ahead of his time!

Confusing plot, lukewarm characters and acting...
