Wonderful comedy and down to earth slice of life drama, with witty dialogues, many powerful and touching moments and superb performances. Stories, perspectives, connections, all brilliantly presented in a drama that felt slow paced at first but was too short in the end...
An intimate, realistic slice-of-life portrayal of Japanese women in their 40s, through the daily life and inner monologues of its main protagonist, Yoshiko, a melancholic, emotional person who has an unspoken desire to find a matching partner and have children and sincerely tries to find enjoyment in her sad life with small pleasures. Direction, cinematography and music are exceptional, acting great and Kuroki Haru a breath of fresh air, as always!
An interesting, nuanced directorial debut from Takumi Saitoh, with a short film that deals with the subject of dysfunctional families and different coping mechanisms in a story that unfolds it two different timelines, with flashbacks of events that fill some blanks of the 13 years of the father- figure absence. Takahashi Issei is the star of this film with his exceptional performance as Koji, Saitoh Takumi has a more reserved and distanced role, Lily Franky is great as Masato, while Jiro Sato and many other supporting actors delightfully portray a number of "misfits" mourners in the brilliantly orchestrated funeral scene.
A laconic, black and white observation of three kids' everyday life, doing typical kid things and interacting briefly with some grown-ups. A slow-paced, slice of life film, with subtle humor and some impressive landscape frames combined with an excellent piano music.
A gentle, quiet and a bit underwhelming film about a reserved, withdrawn and somewhat stubborn 28-year-old woman, Eriko, who is in a deep personal crisis, estranged from her family and emotional distant from her lazy live-in boyfriend. When her sister suddenly dies, leaving her fatherless only son behind, this so-called actress with only one paying gig in her 'career'of 10 years, who bluffs her way through life and relationships and can't even cry fake tears, decides to work as a nakiya (a professional mourner at funerals) and act as a substitute mom for her nephew. Through this pretender’s adventure in pretending, she realizes that she might have to readjust her path in life and decides to make something of herself and re-discover herself in the process.
One of the best adaptations of a successful movie I've watched! This film is based on the the acclaimed romantic movie "The Classic" and it has many similarities with the original version, but also many new elements, making the plot flow smooth and interesting. Beautiful cinematography, charming performances and cute chemistry were a plus.
The story of an unusual family of a lonely grandmother and two granddaughters, their struggle to adjust to living together and taking care of each other and their bonding, although facing lots of adversity, social and health issues.
Inspired by a famous ghost story in Japan, it's a classic romantic, but also eerie and grim, story about everlasting love, hatred and revenge.
This 4 episodes mini series tells the story of a young man falling in love with the spirit of a beautiful young woman, the story of a young man and his quest to avenge his deceased master, without knowing that he slayed his father in his younger days, and the story of a wicked mistress plotting to takeover her master's home with the help of her secret lover.
Excellent cinematography, elegant costumes, music perfectly fitting to the atmosphere and top-notch performances. Definitely captivating, but not for everyone...
Complicated but intriguing story with impressive, well-written plot. Greg Hsu caught my attention in 'Q Series: Love of Sandstorm' and here, both he and Alice Ke did a fantastic job!
Funny and lighthearted politics satire with brilliant acting from Ra Mi Ran, who is the soul and spotlight of this movie. With her natural acting, unique charm, witty and flavorful humor she successfully demonstrated her potential as a one-top lead actress. In fact, Honest Candidate could be brought to life and be comfortably enjoyed only due to Ra Mi Ran's presence, as well as the full support and good teamwork of Kim Moo Yeol & Yoon Kyung Ho.
Agreed and Here are the two best reviews written on this movie (not the one's that are showing on the page)https://kisskh.at/profile/Doki__doki/review/54813https://kisskh.at/profile/Taraleeha/review/42395
And there are so many more to watch xD
