lol I'm enjoying this drama but at the same time tbh that Math teacher is kind of a terrible teacher. On his first day he goes and singles out a kid with the lowest grade and essentially humiliates her in front of the class. And then threatens her with demerit points if she can't get another kid to come to class. Man is asking for a case against him. Lol I'm putting aside my judgement though because it's such a funny light-hearted drama.

That's actually pretty accurate! There's some similar vibes and the emotional resilience part especially when the main couple from WLGYT was younger but outside of that the storyline and focus is different. WLGYT follows them through generations but this drama only focuses them in the 1970s and not outside of that. I will also say WLGYT has more emotionally heavy moments which comes with the realistic aspects of it but this one (while still emotional) carries some lightness in each episode (if that makes sense lol).
Someone told me this has a lot of similarities to the Korean drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines". Is…
Nope, not true at all. I think the only reason people see parallels is because it takes place in 1970s and the FL wants to go to University. Other than that it is very context specific to China in the 1970s and specifically to factory workers at the time.
The writers are joking with me. The ML showed zero signs and zero emotions that he liked the FL even a little.…
Honestly, I agree. I feel like the pacing of the story along with some of how they're doing the CGI and editing is off as well. It feels like it was shot and made in 2016 not now. The plot would've been interesting as well if it was displayed properly but something about it comes off so undercooked. Honestly, I feel like they're relying on Kim Hye Yoon to save the drama because she's so good but like jeez the other characters are a mess imo. I'm literally holding on for her.
maybe im that friend that is too woke but i hate the trope where the ceo takes advantage of his position and assigns…
I agree completely. Overall, I am enjoying this drama and using it as a good mental break from work and more emotionally taxing dramas but like I hate office romances for this reason. One of the leads are usually in a position of power that will abuse it and if it's a workplace that's putting their livelihood at risk.
Personally, I wish they had kept it at the original webtoon setting or at least had them work for different companies if they wanted her to be a corporate girlie.
cliche that i hate most here is : FL always in distress situation and got help by ML.can she stand on her own??…
That's very true! Making her have these repeated scenes sucks because they're out of her control. I don't know if you've watched Extraordinary You but this scene reminded me of the drama characters being angry at the writer for these scenes.

Honestly, I hope she quits her job. I love this job for her but in the perspectives of the moms, it's unfair for them as well. I feel like she's going to find her own path but not in the company later on

Tbh I hate that cliche too but I like how they portray it here. It's clear the FL is capable, competent, and even an independent person. I feel like without the MLs intervention she would've found a way out but the ML is always striving to help her. While I feel like the mountain scene was kind of overdone, I still don't feel it's too overdone here. Especially because the FL here is honestly in a very desperate situation. If I was her, I wouldn't turn down any help tbh.

That's so true! It's also like she's doing the actions she desires. By taking care of the dogs, she's showcasing the love she wants as well. Fingers crossed for a good ending with her

Same, I liked her being cute with the dogs. It seems clear that she got where she is on her own so I'd hate for her to sabotage her position just because of a power struggle. While I do feel like she needs to improve her somewhat rudeness towards the moms on the TF team (especially cuz this is a literal baby product company) I feel like it will naturally improve as she resolves her insecurities. I love complicated female characters lol
The SFL is lovely, pretty, kind, rich and selfless. He doesn't deserve her, you are right.
So true. He already has a kid and she's willing to be with him and clearly be a mother figure too which is wild to me. He should feel more conflicted about that. Instead, he only just decided to make a move on his best friend of twenty years after he realized someone liked her.
can’t believe people still trying to justify SML behaviour after today’s episode. “ oh poor guy is confused…
Tbh while I don't mind the SML that much. I found my annoyance with him peaked in last week's episodes where he showed up to her work. Like that risks the lie being exposed and also puts her in an awkward position. If he loves her, he would support her through the hard time. Instead, when she's sick, he's not even there. And sure she said she's okay and she hasn't given an opportunity but even a good friend wouldn't leave a friend that's so obviously sick like that.
I like how despite having some of the same cliche tropes other dramas have (Rich ML, Poor FL, Chaebol, saves the day, etc.), there' still a new feeling to the drama. The ML's trauma makes sense and especially in the last episode, you realize it goes beyond the surface concerns and into his deep traumas. He's afraid of repeating the cycle and also his mother going deeper into depression. Same with the FL where she is unable to tell the truth and risk putting her mother and health at risk. I like how even their upbringing and traumas are similar. Both of them have been parentified and struggling to show their true sides at risk of losing their parents.
I hope the confession comes soon to spare the poor ML from this trauma and I think it'll be a big weight off the FL too. Tbh while the drama is getting messier and I hate these types of plots usually but I think the writers did a great job of making the characters well-rounded enough for us to love them.
Also, I'm feeling really bad for the ML's sister right now. I really hope she gets a sort of redemption arc or some love in her life. It's unfair that she has to fight so hard for recognition. And no matter how hard she tries, she seems to be unwelcome everywhere purely based on the fact that she's an illegitimate child. I hope the ML and her recognize their main enemy is their father who has made it that way.
100% agree. I've decided to drop rather than continue to get angry at how badly everyone is treating the FL. What…
I feel like you are the only one who is getting my rage over the ML. I also watched ep 5& 6 and (of course) I'm still as angry as ever. There is no part of me that likes him. I can't understand the people in the comments that are mad at the FL and not him.
I still cannot get over the ML being so manipulative and cocky. I'm sorry to all the people feeling bad for him but like some of y'all need to be careful with the men you're dating is all I'll say. Yes, he's in pain and he lost his brother but maybe he should take care of himself then. Even if he had made the mistake with good-intentions he should then go to try to make it up to her. Instead, I have watched six episodes of him being the most manipulative person ever. From him pushing himself on her constantly to then getting angry at her whenever he misunderstands her. To be honest, this could've been a more meaningful drama if it was them healing from the trauma together and him owning up to his mistakes and her also understanding him. But all that potential has been wasted for the writers to opt for constant trauma triggers for the FL and ML. I especially hate how all the other characters are acting like she's wild for wanting out of this situation.
Honestly, they're supposed to show that they've had a deep relationship prior to all this but that's not happening at all. Like I don't see their childhood romance and sweet memories because of the emphasis on all the nonsense drama. If this was an honest showing of two leads suffering from the consequences of their actions it'd be better but, instead, all we have is a plot that goes nowhere smh.
God this is the most frustrating drama ever. I feel like the writers were playing roulette with all the worst tropes when writing the drama. There's dramas with bad plots and then there's this. I've put up with a lot of badly written dramas because I like actors but this is not of them. A misuse of good actors is what this is. I want to pretend this drama doesn't exist
