Luke hid his entire past with Donny from her, and she knew it. Honesty? Not a single birthday we've celebrated together in the past 4 years, no emotional security. However, I agree that the man is "softer" compared to the novel.
SQ said in the interview that they both see each other as they did at first, they don't see each other's changes. The man is sexy, mysterious, aloof and superior. The girl is naive, impressionable, controllable, careerist.
(But both of them have changed in the past 4-6 years)

It was in the novel. It just didn't quite work out that way. When Luke got jealous, Flora wanted to be an official girlfriend, but LUKE had already called her a "liar." Flora's list was ticked off, except for the one she wanted to do with Luke.

Okay, I know that Netflix has the rights to broadcast SVIP, I hope it stays that way then.
