Eps 13 and 14 surely picked up the pace! The romance is picking up, Shi Yan is more obvious with his affections while the 2nd and 3rd couples are having problems this time~ Shuyi getting more recognition in her field makes me so happy too. what a workaholic main couple 😅
I love bai lu and I want to support her. So even if I really dont like watching 2 dramas at the same time, I will…
OFL and SOKP have their own charms and genres. I'm sure the audience who likes them will continue to support them while us fans are busy supporting both 😅
AHHHH episode 1 did NOT disappoint!! i have to jump in here before continuing the rest because i can't wait to share my excitement here lol. Just wanna share my first impression here:
First off, everything here looks so crisp and clear I love it! It's so good to see Bai Lu's visuals as a modern woman (Zheng Shuyi) then in a historical costume as Jiang Xuening! Red is definitely her color ❤️
The intense close ups are kinda...shocking but apparently that's what the director is known for so I'd better get used to it 😵💫 It still amuses me how makeup artists would drastically change the makeup for villains to emphasize their "villainess" (ZLH's red eyeliner in the first few minutes).
So far they're staying close to the novel. I haven't finished it yet because I don't want the novel to influence my viewing so much. I read just enough to get a basic understanding of each character and they're staying close to the novel so far. I like their revision of the scene where Xuening was punishing her servants. In the novel it was quite long and the servants are really annoying. I think her father was perfectly casted as well. He's exactly how I imagined him in the novel. Also, I think the writer part is what they came up with when they were asked to revise the drama. It was kinda shocking for me lol tho I hope it won't influence much how the story flows.
Lastly, I saw some people point out Zheng Shuyi's excessive inner and outer monologue, which Xuening lacks right now imo. I like her inner monologues in the novel, makes everything more intense when she's around Xie Wei. I hope in the next episodes they'd include more of that considering this is her 2nd life and she plans to live differently compared to her first life.
All in all SOKP looks very promising. Bai Lu never disappoints and Zhang Ling He has improved so much with his micro expressions I'm so in love with it! Let's support both Bai Lu dramas ❤️
Yesterday i was surprised a coworker told me she's watching this new dylan wang drama after seeing snippets on tiktok (he's quite famous here because of meteor garden) and she's all praises for Bai Lu's beauty! 😍 I was surprised since she's mostly a kdrama watcher but she did like Miles' other drama Unforgettable Love and she saw he's here too so she decided to watch.
Anyways i was happy to hear that and decided to watch with her during breaks and i realized how poorly written Shu Yi's intentions were about her pursuing Shi Yan and other things too. Maybe it's the editing or the directing but it's kinda hard for plain watchers to fully grasp certain scenes and motives because it's poorly laid out outside the actors' convos. I mean, I have to check here and ask novel readers about a few things so others who don't have mdl, X, or other social media drama fanpage to follow would be hella confused too. But they're about to advance into the actual romance arc so i hope the misunderstanding clears out soon. Very excited for eps 13 and 14 ❤️
same problem with the production and although i can focus just fine on the actors, it's still shocking sometimes…
Bai Lu's hair style is definitely top notch here! it looks so healthy and bouncy. i just hoped the editing team also considered her light makeup before applying that heavy filter sigh
My first impression is totally superficial - I really dislike the show's aesthetic. The sets, the outfits, the…
same problem with the production and although i can focus just fine on the actors, it's still shocking sometimes to see them practically glowing lol. and about the styling, they're all beautiful people but sometimes the clothes are just too unflattering. also, I'm not a fan of bai lu's dyed eye brows especially with the heavy filter. the styling team are quite doing their visuals a disservice like this. 🥲
ep 10 left me with some questions..what red dress were they talking about? was it from a deleted scene? and the cake too,was shi yan just simply mocking her or that particular flavor or design has meaning? 😅
i dunno why people are expecting so much from this drama. it is a "modern romcom idol drama". Of course, it isn't…
it seems it has become a trend to "hate on the leads" of the drama. I've seen it a lot lately and it's off-putting. To make it worse we're not even halfway through the drama..😅
Didn’t 2nd couple already hooked up the first time they met at the bar and left together? This is my understanding.
it seems to be implied that they have a sort of friends with benefits kind of relationship. at least that's how i see it. i haven't read the novel yet either
watching this with my aunt, now we're on episode 4 and we are LOVING it 😂 can't get enough of Shu Yi's antics and Shi Yan's subtle crush lol they're too cute!
