she talks to herself a lot because she just can't tell anyone she reincarnated. no one would believe her anyway…
you're welcome ☺️ in the novel she talks to herself a lottt. but now in the drama her thoughts are major part of the mystery. I'm also excited how the drama would progress bc I didn't finish reading the novel yet.
am i the only one who feels secondhand pain everytime JXN talks about zhang zhe? especially when yao xi told them her father already proposed to zhang zhe's house..insane how much bai lu's acting affects me 😭
Ahhhhhh! I'm on Episode 6 and hate that Bai Lu makes it work with all her counterparts. Like her and Yan Lin soooo…
she's really good at balancing her chemistry with her MLs. now that 2 of her dramas are airing I've had doubts about one cp may affect the other but idk if it's just me but i like all her ongoing cps. i feel giddy all the same when i see them together on screen😅
first of all, just wanted to say I CANNOT believe this is actually out. been waiting since forever. second though,…
she talks to herself a lot because she just can't tell anyone she reincarnated. no one would believe her anyway 😅 i actually think her monologues are lacking so watchers who haven't read the novel are pretty confused. maybe they'll reveal more of the past in the later episodes.
as for xie wei, she fears him the most because he's manipulative, cruel and cunning. no one thought he would lead the rebellion in her past life. xie wei is one of the main reasons of her downfall as empress.
I know as much that in the modern day, it’s a story that the ‘author’ is writing. I’m aware this isn’t…
I only read the novel until the part where she's just woke up in her 2nd life because I prefer reading the novel in full after the drama lol i just wanted to have a clear background if each character so i can't tell what happens in the end part.
as for ML being sus towards her it's because during that time when JXN gave him blood so he won't die, he was delirious and might've said a few things that could reveal his intentions in entering the capital. But 14y.o JXN was too innocent to understand anything. XW only got sus about her after he saw how JXN handled the matter of her servants stealing from her. You'd notice JXN would always play dumb around XW so he won't be suspicious and kill her anytime 😂
This is why I love well-written and executed live adaptations.
In the novel, I found it hard to relate to Xie Wei as the ML because of how cold and distant he was with JXN in their first life. My imagination is good but seeing ZLH bring XW to life is absolute gold. Here, although he's aloof and suspicious towards JXN there's an obvious tension that I can't feel or imagine in the novel. Every sneaky glance, intense stare or even just talking about JXN establishes himself as the ML. Amazing!
Yan Lin is also perfect. His devotion to JXN are the same in the novel and LA. He's carefree as any 18 y.o could be but also firm in his affections to JXN and his principles.
And ofc Bai Lu as JXN is phenomenal! I might be biased but it's because I always feel like her interpretations of her characters are on point even as Lu Zhao Yao (one of her earliest works I've watched). I love comparing her interpretations of the time with XW as a 14 y.o compared to her pre-empress, empress and 2nd life JXN. In her 2nd life, although she's supposed to be 18 y.o but because of what she's gone through in her first life she's bound to be more reserved and mature.
Still waiting for Zhang Zhe, but I'm positive I won't be disappointed.
Story of Kunning Palace might become one of the casts' most memorable and commendable works if it would be able to maintain this level of fine work. It's so much fun watching everything unfold. 🤩

the author part i think is a plot device they added to pass censorship since reincarnation is banned. so basically, what we're watching is jiang xue ning's (Ning'er) story written by the author. in modern day we saw the author was unhappy with how the direction of her novel was going because the editor or wtv just wanted the fan engagement with the novel then she threatened to quit since she doesn't like how Jiang Xuening's life ended as an empress so the editor gave her the go signal to write how she wants thus she made jiang xuening reincarnate.
the story proceeds as jiang xuening living her 2nd life with full memories of her past life, and her mission is to change her tragic ending.
currently really enjoying the layers to our male lead and wondering if he’s somehow related to yan lin or the…
imo Jiang Xuening in the novel was built and introduced nicely. how she thinks, acts and speaks aligned together. it's nice that the screenwriters are doing a good job in establishing her in the drama.
idk if im interpreting right but yanlin forcefully kissed xuening out of some sort of anger and she clearly wasn't…
i wanna keep the spoiler to the minimum:
it's mainly because she feels so much guilt towards yan lin. in her past life she abandoned him when he needed her the most. she's still cautious around him in the novel but mostly she feels guilt and pity. As for xie wei, nobody was prepared for who he really was. Xuening is scared because now she knows what he's capable of and in her 2nd life she just wants to live peacefully.
