What i really liked about Legend of Shen Li as a xianxia drama was the pacing of the drama from start to finish was really good. It didn't seem to drag on or have lots of unnecessary side scenes about sides characters as most dramas from this genre do. I don't think i skipped a scene at all for this drama.
All the comments about Shen Yu Rong being irredeemable but i think he may be acting and just playing along with…
Just realised Wanning is listed as a supporting character but i think her character deserves to be in the main cast, compared to Ye Shi Jie who has barely gotten any scenes but is considered part of the main cast???
All the comments about Shen Yu Rong being irredeemable but i think he may be acting and just playing along with Wanning and at the last minute decide to openly come clean about everything in front of the emperor.
The actress of Wanning is really stealing the show for me in the last few episodes !!! Her character seems to be the most interesting right now and i really like her acting. I think she could play FL in other historical/wuxia cdramas
Well produced cdrama that's definitely worth a watch. Could tell this drama must've had a decent budget from the production quality - costumes, background props etc which together with good cinematography like lightning, camera angles and such made the drama a nice watch.
I think the two leads were casted really well and suited their characters overall. In fact, i think the entire cast were great including all the aunties and uncles and younger kids too.
The only thing that bothered me was the emperor/uncle of yanxi. In my opinion, i dont think he should've received any kind of redemption scene??? Usually in dramas an emperor is harsh on those around him but that is because he has to make hard decisions while still benefitting the people. But in this drama the emperor didnt seem to even care at all so i dont understand why they made yanxi have such unwavering loyalty to him after what he was put through
I somewhat agree. I think overall it was a good drama with some interesting characters and the politics was interesting.…
I also thought they made the male leads character too exaggerated in the last third of the drama. He was more interesting at the start when he was dark, broody and different to other male leads we've seen in other cdramas. But then they made his interactions with female lead super aggressive amd forceful and honestly couldnt really feel the real connection between the two. I thought she had more chemistry with zhang zhe 😂
Guys when exactly will the last episode come out? Need to know so i can space out the episodes i have left instead of waiting for the last few eps 😂
I'm debating whether to watch the Story of Yanxi Palace (2018) first or this one. They both have the same rating…
Both are amazing! Probably my top 2 fav cdramas that ive rewatched both multiple times. Story of yanxi palace is all palace setting for the 70 eps with typical themes such as harem scheming and what not. Minglan is more slice of life feel and incorporates family dynamics and relationships more. Both are very long dramas and have multiple story arcs within it so you're definitely in for a ride
I haven't seen something this awful and shallow in years. The two leads' personalities are copy/paste of each…
Yeah agree there was not much depth to the two main characters which is a huge part of the reason why i felt the show couldnt reach its full potential. It got close to having some substance with the two older knife guys but then they had to kill them off plus the older guy so quickly. Usually they kill off secondary characters in order for main character development to happen but that was not the case so they died for no reason??? I honestly felt this drama was more of a light hearted action drama and not a thriller like its classified. In the end i still enjoyed watching it but it was really just a chill action comedy to me. To anyone that wants to watch real thriller crime kdramas i recommend beyond evil or the voice.
Watched this when it first aired and now back for another rewatch. The lead actress is so good at acting it took me ages the first time to realise she played both characters 😂
8/10. Overall, a solid chinese drama that i would recommend. The quality of the production was generally above other chinese wuxia dramas. I really appreciated the effort and detail that went into the sets, costumes and how they filmed on location in some outdoor scenes rather than just CGI. The storyline was interesting and the acting was good too. I felt it started to drag a little though after about half way and the plot and actions of the characters just didn't match up with previously and that was frustrating to watch. Had to get through some slow episodes before it picked up again near the end. Glad it was a happy/satisfying ending!
Surprisingly a really solid drama from start to end, so i would recommend to watch for anyone who's unsure if they should start it! It felt like an easy watch, didn't have a lot of filler scenes like most historical c-dramas do. Seven Tan and Allen Ren did an amazing job as the leads and i think without them this drama could've felt like a more low quality/low budget drama. Personally its not one of my top fave dramas but still definitely worth a watch.
Worth a watch overall, the acting was so good! Loved Yang zi and Allen Ren, they completely saved the drama for me. This drama was just sooo unnecessarily long though and i found myself skipping through parts, there was a lot of repeating arcs and it just dragged on. However, i would still recommend watching this cause of the amazing acting from the two leads and nice graphics. Wouldn't rewatch this myself though.
My number one all time chinese drama. I think i've rewatched it 4 or 5 times now... The first time i watched it i only watched a few eps and dropped it but came back to it later and im so glad i did! so keep watching for those who are struggling at the first few eps. This is just one of those dramas that are a masterpiece where you have to pay attention to the small details otherwise you will miss something. It had the right balance of everything imo, humour and wit, family drama, plotting and scheming, romance. Everything was just so well done, highly recommend.
