Let me ask you a few questions. If you watch a highly anticipated drama, and realize that it is not well researched, that the plot lacks consistency, or that the actors are not on the level you expected them to be, will you still enjoy it as much? Do you think that because the staff worked hard, or because other people enjoy the show, it should be free from criticism? Do you base your judgement of a show on other people's opinions, or do you create your own based on your personal experience and knowledge?

My initial comment wasn't condemning the show and saying people are stupid for enjoying it, I instead expressed my disappointment as I was expecting a more thorough plot and a more tense romance. Having watched The Heart Killers, I know JoongDunk are somewhat able to emulate romantic tension, and I hoped they pushed it further in a more 'professional' context, yet I feel like we went a step back to a more immature storyline.

yeah the first two weren't great and The Heart Killer actually made me interested in seeing more from them. 6,5 for a GMMTV BL is great in my books, and I lowered my ranking mainly from the story ending that didn't make any sense, not because of JoongDunk. Have you even read my bio before claiming I'm not a fan?

I also hate this childish "if it's not your taste then watch something else" argument. As a BL enjoyer, I think I actually am the target market and I'm allowed to critique things that don't work for me, no? JoongDunk can be proud of what they accomplished and still be open to critics, always looking for improvement is what makes a good artist. If you genuinely believe every watcher should stay silent and obediently approve everything they put out you're just doing them disservice.

I'm not familiar with the novel, but I watch a lot of police dramas and this just doesn't feel on the same level as what's already out there. I'm waiting a bit more to see where the series goes because I like JoongDunk and 2 episodes isn't enough for me to drop it yet, but I'm already a bit disappointed yes!

ok and? what are you trying to convince me of? I like JoongDunk and I wanted to see them in a more mature drama, and imo this is not what was delivered... why should I care about thai people and bl fans? if nobody is allowed to complain about tv shows they will never improve...

IDK I'm kinda disappointed in this series so far.. Nothing feels convincing, I was expecting an actual police drama but it reads more like a teenager's fanfiction! No police officer would act so unprofessional, it looks kind of ridiculous and childish when compared to other thriller bls out there? It's a GMMTV production so I shouldn't be surprised but I'm still upset because JoongDunk deserve better writing and directing... Styling is on point though they're hot!

this pace is so rushed it feels right for a 6 part series.. i wonder how they can keep things going until ep 8??

i feel like this is such a missed opportunity... Chet is so annoying with his tantrums, giving him a love might've made his character a bit more redeemable

real talk what are they trying to do with Chet and his bodyguard? are they canon or just queerbaiting? it feels like they're trying to do something with all these long stares but there's no romantic vibe whatsoever...

this show is so stupid omg what kind of hospital accepts a patient with a bullet wound and doesn't call the police???

atp I'm not expecting anything out of this world from a TVing drama but I do wish they'd try to venture out of their very redundant tropes that's all

Every cliché might've some truth to it, what I'm saying is that they're:

1. Recycling the same tropes seen in every other drama = no originality. If that's your thing sure, but I think it's valid criticism than to say that I'd like to see a show that doesn't throw in every single conventional Korean drama trope...

2. Every character is one dimentional here. They could've made something much more subtle, an actual psychological drama where everything isn't so black or white. This show really feels like a quick dopamine hit for Koreans frustrated with their society, nothing very profound that actually makes one think

Edit: I need to add that the treatment of abuse in this show is very much unrealistic. People outright evil like the lead's dad are a minority, abuse is usually much more subtle and hard to pinpoint, even when physical violence is involved. People won't have a baseball athlete ready to swing a bat at their abusive father, and they won't end up stabbing them either. Abusive people aren't complete trash in the eyes of society either, they often have strong community ties and are well liked, making the abuse much harder to bring to light. This show is not helping the conversation around abuse, because it makes a caricature out of it.

Even when they get an interesting plot they still manage to bring in every cliché possible. The abusive dad, evil step mother, soft male interest with a pure heart, the rich student bully, the corrupt cop... and I could go on with plot points; both revenge stories have been done time and time again...

The only thing refreshing here is the female lead not giving a hint of reciprocated feelings towards any male character, because in the real world when a rich boy helps you it doesn't mean you owe him a love story too. I'm just worried the female lead will get a change of heart in the remaining episodes and give in to one of these guys...

I don't get the comments saying the plot is messy, it's pretty easy to follow imo... I really like it so far, it's kind of refreshing! The sex scene was great, I don't think they needed more skinship considering their relationship at this point.
