This past May, it rained noticeably more in Shanghai than in previous years. Almost every day was swallowed up by a series of rainy skies. But early summer rain has its own charm: it comes quickly, leaves quickly. It doesn’t bring that suffocating heat or clingy humidity — and though it may make getting around harder, there’s something refreshing about it. There’s even a kind of pleasure in walking through it like in You Feng Er Xing, feeling free to move with the wind, even if it's raining.
It was on one of those days, right after a heavy rain had suddenly stopped during filming, that the sky cleared. Cool air lingered from the earlier downpour — and in that brief moment, we met Tian Jia Rui. Somehow, the timing felt perfect.
If we had to pick a season of the year to represent him, perhaps the delicate moment when spring gives way to summer would be the most fitting. He’s sensitive, attentive to detail, and always seems in harmony with his surroundings — like a gentle breeze you don’t notice until it’s gone, but that leaves you feeling good.
In front of the camera, you can see in him the soul of a storyteller. On a hot set, eyes fixed on a distant point, he appeared lost in a quiet, poetic scene — as if living out a moment of “distant mountains shrouded in light mist, with wind whispering through soft rain.”
🎭Part 2 – The Art of Observing and Transforming: Acting as Full Commitment
For Tian Jia Rui, acting isn’t just about memorizing lines or playing a role. There’s a constant — almost handcrafted — effort to make everything feel real, lived-in.
