Bad acting? That's what Chinese dramas are filled with... Also those horrible dubbing... The only thing Chinese dramas have an upper hand over kdramas are budget and VFX... Everything else kdramas dominate and it famous worldwide...

This drama is a love story and not about a woman wanting to climb the ladder and become powerful... Korean kingdoms were different from Chinese empires...
