It's a personal opinion to like or dislike someone's acting... So that's completely upto you but shk and jjh are too old to play this role... They are like fully grown matured women to play a character this immature and messed up... The character itself is not that well written so it's hard for any actor to do justice to it...

You also talk as if your take on culture and tradition is the right one and that too Korean culture.. You clearly have zero idea about how things work in Asian countries and think your thoughts are the right one and is completely insensitive towards the culture and tradition of another country just because that country decided to ban a drama you like... typical western thinking imposing on Asians and thinking yours is superior...

As an Indian, I have seen tons of dramas were a charater fake dies, comes back as someone else only to be revealed as the original character taking revenge... Also when any of the main actors decide to quite the serial, they will put an accident and plastic surgery storyline and then put a completely new actor in that role...

It got banned by 185k+ petitions... There should be more than that petition to get an impact...

Abraham Lincoln was still shown as a hero in that movie and not as someone who slaughtered his own people or a crazy lunatic... Will Hollywood make a movie showing Russians in a good light or showing the atrocities US did in Vietnam or Afghanistan? A movie were the US government is the villain and get away with it...

Do you know anything about the korean royal family to say if they are of any use to korean society? It's the korean society that decides whether to give respect to their royal family or not and not you... a lot of dramas before JE has faced some backlash from a 'small vocal minority' and a lot of historical dramas have added fictional elements to it... Neither the royal family spoke up nor the sponsors of those shows backed out... If this particular drama faced this amount of backlash then there will be something that much problematic about it...
Also korea and china is kind of having fictions and both countries won't take anything sightly inappropriate lightly... We international fans are not the ones whose tradition and culture are being claimed by china as its own... It's Korea's... They take huge pride in their culture... Any country with a culture and tradition holds their culture and tradition dearly...

They already saw a bit backlash for me.queen and had plenty of time to just make it fictional like kingdom or arthadal chronical... Just because mr queen got away they thought this will also get away as well...
When a huge budget is involved it's safer to just go completely fictional... The writers,producers and the channel should have an idea about how the public would react to certain scenes as they are Koreans themselves and both the channel and the writer already received flakes in the past...

It's their history and their drama and it's upto them whether to feel offended or not... They have the right to file complaints to the blue house... If this particular drama got this much heat then there will be something really deep going on... Sponsors don't back out of a project in just 2 days just because a small amount of people got offended...

You clearly don't have any idea of the status of Gandhi and the importance he holds to tell he could be shown pouring drinks to British and think that indians should be okay with it just because it's fiction... unlike korea were they only protest through the net, offended indians will be throught rocks at the maker's and actor's houses... it's foolishness to anger a mob and think one can get away with it...
Just because something is fiction and there is something called creative liberty doesn't mean the makers can show whatever they want... For creative liberty and as fiction a film maker can show a victim marrying her rapist but that doesn't mean people who watched it should be fine with it and don't feel offended just because it's a freaking fiction...
Davinci code was also a fictional movie but got banned in a lot of countries around the world because it hurt the religious sentiments of a large amount of people... And there are a lot of movies/dramas that get banned for religious and cultural reasons... it's not something exclusive to knetz or korean society...

They are not actually zombies but spirits controlling humans... I didn't see the episodes but I read the article released by the makers before it's airing... But I agree on why they need an outsider to save them... Every religion has their own methods of getting ride of evil spirits and there was no need to show a foreigner coming and saving them... Its like the religions that existed at that time in Korea were not sufficient enough to get ride of evil spirits...
One of the main problems with knetz is how one of the prince pour drinks to the priest... As far as I know pouring a drink to someone holds importance according to Korean culture( we can notice that even in modern dramas) and a prince pouring drinks to a person below him in status is inappropriate...

I guess the biggest name will be the male lead of mr sunshine( I forgot his name)... He has many scandals but is still one of the top actors in Korea and even got Hollywood movies...
If an actor or actress is highly talented(esp movie stars), their controversy die down quick... Even jun ji hyun had some controversy over her rent issue with her tenants but since she is one of the top actresses it didn't blew up... she has like 2 high budget dramas coming this year...

more than half of the people will watch a kdrama if their oppa is in it and in 2 months everyone will forget about JE... korea will go on making movies and dramas...

They had 3-4 months to make changes and considering how big budget this drama is wasn't it safe to just make it fictional setup like kingdom or arthadal chronical... when that amount of money is involved it's common sense to play it safe esp when both the writer and the channel already experienced backlash...

There was a significant decrease in rating for the 2nd episode which clearly showed that a lot of people were not happy with ep1...
The royal family made an official statement against the drama..
There were 180,000+ complains and it's not a small amount for a drama with 5-8% rating on the first episode...

If a movie is made were gandhi was shown being inferior to some white guy and willingly pouring him drinks in the name of creative liberty then that will piss of half of the Indian citizens and that's what exactly happened with this drama...

Every country has good and bad aspects and no country is fully perfect... Even the USA which is the oldest democracy in the world still has killing based on racism and open shooting inside schools... A country that powerful is not able to handle their gun problems...

China has put a complete ban on kdramas and k-pop which means korea cannot make money from China but china is increasingly investing in kdramas as sponsors and making money out of kdramas without allowing korea to make money from China... Obviously Korean public will be pissed...

There is no proper knowledge about lady ki before she became a concubine to the emperor which gives them creative liberty to show her having a lover before entering the Chinese empire... Also having a child with a lover don't degrade a woman's character... there was no degradation of character of empress ki or taimur... Infact empress ki wasn't a popular figure in the history and the drama glorified her... empress ki's fictional side or historical side is used only to strengthen the character of the FL...
Lady ki was a concubine of the Chinese emperor and wasn't married off to the emperor from Korea like how princess are married off to other kingdom...

A lot of people will be offended if Nelson Mandela was portrayed as a crazy lunatic in the name of creative liberty or mahatma gandhi as a soul eater... it's the same for Koreans... The real historical characters represented in the drama are highly respected historical figures in koren history... They cannot be shown as lunatics or bowing down to outsiders in the name of fiction...

In mr.queen they showed a very unpopular king in a new light and by the end showed that the entire history of Korea changed( in a good way) and no one had any problem with this kind of creative liberty.. even the criticism it faced at the start were forgotten and the drama had a super successful run throughout it's run...

Ya... India don't even have an accurate written historical evidence like Korea and a certain set of people still got made over distortion of history... Lol

i can already imagine the marathis and rajputs giving death threats to the makers and some politicians openly saying they will cut the nose of the actor and some political parties burning dummies in front of the studio or maker's house...
