I guess the biggest name will be the male lead of mr sunshine( I forgot his name)... He has many scandals but is still one of the top actors in Korea and even got Hollywood movies...
If an actor or actress is highly talented(esp movie stars), their controversy die down quick... Even jun ji hyun had some controversy over her rent issue with her tenants but since she is one of the top actresses it didn't blew up... she has like 2 high budget dramas coming this year...

more than half of the people will watch a kdrama if their oppa is in it and in 2 months everyone will forget about JE... korea will go on making movies and dramas...

can you name a country thats not a hypocrite... everyone will turn into a hypocrite when it comes to themselves...
americans or western world will call asians hypocrite or narrow minded for whats happening in those areas but wont say anything if the same thing happens in their own place and vise-versa...

kingdom is highly appreciated in korea and internationally and its a fictional kingdom...neither koreans not international fans have any problem relating to that...

This is exactly what I was thinking... It's the same writer as Mr queen and he already faced backlash for the initial episodes of mr queen... sbs also recently got some backlash for backstreet rookies as well...
They had 3-4 months to make changes and considering how big budget this drama is wasn't it safe to just make it fictional setup like kingdom or arthadal chronical... when that amount of money is involved it's common sense to play it safe esp when both the writer and the channel already experienced backlash...

There was a significant decrease in rating for the 2nd episode which clearly showed that a lot of people were not happy with ep1...
The royal family made an official statement against the drama..
There were 180,000+ complains and it's not a small amount for a drama with 5-8% rating on the first episode...

Do you know the clear history of Korea during that period to say that Koreans don't have a right to feel offended by the portrayal of their historical figures?

If a movie is made were gandhi was shown being inferior to some white guy and willingly pouring him drinks in the name of creative liberty then that will piss of half of the Indian citizens and that's what exactly happened with this drama...

Every country has good and bad aspects and no country is fully perfect... Even the USA which is the oldest democracy in the world still has killing based on racism and open shooting inside schools... A country that powerful is not able to handle their gun problems...
Koreans are not going around mass killing others because they were having a bad day and is depressed...

Is there any proof that they dragged mr.queen cast? There is no articles from any valid sites that backs this claim except for some tweets from some random people... Twitter is the main place were fake news starts...

Chinese dramas are using Korean style and then claiming that it's theirs... China has put a complete ban on kdramas and k-pop which means korea cannot make money from China but china is increasingly investing in kdramas as sponsors and making money out of kdramas without allowing korea to make money from China... Obviously Korean public will be pissed...

There is no proper knowledge about lady ki before she became a concubine to the emperor which gives them creative liberty to show her having a lover before entering the Chinese empire... Also having a child with a lover don't degrade a woman's character... there was no degradation of character of empress ki or taimur... Infact empress ki wasn't a popular figure in the history and the drama glorified her... empress ki's fictional side or historical side is used only to strengthen the character of the FL...
Lady ki was a concubine of the Chinese emperor and wasn't married off to the emperor from Korea like how princess are married off to other kingdom...

A lot of people will be offended if Nelson Mandela was portrayed as a crazy lunatic in the name of creative liberty or mahatma gandhi as a soul eater... it's the same for Koreans... The real historical characters represented in the drama are highly respected historical figures in koren history... They cannot be shown as lunatics or bowing down to outsiders in the name of fiction...

In mr.queen they showed a very unpopular king in a new light and by the end showed that the entire history of Korea changed( in a good way) and no one had any problem with this kind of creative liberty.. even the criticism it faced at the start were forgotten and the drama had a super successful run throughout it's run...

Ya... India don't even have an accurate written historical evidence like Korea and a certain set of people still got made over distortion of history... Lol

i can already imagine the marathis and rajputs giving death threats to the makers and some politicians openly saying they will cut the nose of the actor and some political parties burning dummies in front of the studio or maker's house...

the korean king and her love story with the korean king are fictional... they even show empress ki having a child with him...

why do you think knetz think about international fans while watching korean dramas? they care about their historical figures being degraded in their public channel...

the king eternal monarch, mr.queen also faced some backlash but it wasnt to the level were all the sponsors backed off... if joseon exorcist had sponsors backing off then the backlash must be that big... even the korean royal family made official statement and some well-known korean professor also made a statement... if people like them are making official statements then it might be that big of a deal for the koreans...
we international fans might not get the intensity of the problem...

if the king eternal monarch didnt lose any sponsors and had a smooth run and this one faced sponsorship cancellation and the royal family themselves making official statements then the problem will also be that huge for the korean public...
we dont know their history and their problems.. so we cannot say they shouldnt feel offended...

exactly... the same way we cannot tell koreans to not feel offended for the distort of THEIR historical figures... its their historical figures thats been misrepresented and not someone else's...
if you know that jews wont accept nazi germany and koreans/Filipinos wont be fine with whatever imperial japan did, why are you telling koreans to not 'whine' about it...

a better example would be how davinci code movies and novels were banned in some countries... no one can go and tell chrisitans to see it as just a movie/novel and dont make a fuzz about it... its their religion and their belief thats being portrayed in a different light... non-Christians can enjoy it as just a novel or movie but people who belive in that religion cannot...
