I dont know about others but for me personally gender doesn't matter and I call out problematic behaviour regardless…
I won't say there are no guys like JW since the world has a population of more than 7b people but it's necessary to make a character interesting esp the leads in a drama so that the audience can enjoy them... The writer made JW and EO so irritating that a lot of audience didn't even care if they get together or not and that is some really lazy writing... The makers literally shown huge problems in both of them and then cover it up with random comedy and romantic scenes... The drama literally had no flow... Also even if there are guys like JW their actions after the break up won't be welcomed by people around them like how GJ basically got done with JW being in self destructive mode for more than an year... Here they showed JW's self destructive mode as his passionate love which is wrong... He was in self destructive mode because he isn't emotionally strong enough to handle himself and not because his love for EO was passionate... they made his so pathetic that the audience felt that this guy has zero self respect... It's hard to root for a main lead who lacks any sort of self respect... Same with EO... We saw 15 episodes of her lying, deceiving and self pity, self esteem issues then suddenly she just gets enlighten and everything is okay... All her problems got swept under the rug... They made her problems look so big and then it got solved with just one single scene... it also looked like she went after JW only because she isn't getting the attention she wants from him and not because she realised she was wrong... In one episode she is like JW is not my priority and I need to find myself and the next episode when he gave her everything she asked from him, she became restless... She became restless when she didn't know the meaning of the necklace and image JW when he didn't even know why he got dumbed and that too for more than an year...
I guess kg and sy were the only one that had closure and KG is the only one whose goodness and calmness wasn't hard to digest... When SY became violent and broke up with him he let her be even though he liked her and it was SY who took initiative to clear things out... He does naturally come off as a level headed nice guy... There is no exaggeration when to comes to him.. GJ and RY were so rushed... In ep 16 they show GJ calling RY and a guy picking up the call... In ep 17 there is no continuation of that scene... Also EO completely ignored her friend RY's heart break to hang out with JW... Like RY is the girl that flew from UK for her, cried her eyes out just by thinking what EO might have gone through after the break up, went violent with her jerk ex, didn't question EO for being MIA for 3 months but EO is super busy with her job and new found bf that she literally have no time for RY... It is kind of a wake up call for RY since she thinks her two friends will always be there for her... KG still might be but EO is way too selfish and self centred to think about someone else... The makers literally didn't show a single scene were EO thinks about someone else other than herself...
The comedy genre does not necessarily mean than nothing bad is allowed to happen. This is also a heavily political…
The drama wasn't clearly going to be historically accurate and had no intention of showing the real joseon era... They just took a real king from history who in real is considered to be a useless king and changed the entire history... Even the romance was not supposed to be heavy... It just got that much attention because shs and kjh have amazing chemistry... I guess mr.queen can be best compared to 100days my prince which is also a rom-com sageuk which has politics just because it's a sageuk and they needed to move the story forward... In that also only 1 major death happened and that was the only time something relatively tragic happened in both the dramas... These are dramas that are purely meant for entertainment and watch without any sort of stress... :)
The last line is quite degrading towards the actor... This drama came in 2016 and yoona is among one of the most popular idol in Korea and china... The makers wanted to create buzz and needed an FL just for looking pretty... As much as I didn't like yoona's acting she is famous enough to not do favours to get roles and she also belongs to one of the biggest agencies in Korea...
JCW is really good at playing mysterious roles and have a very strong charm onscreen which is apt for the magician... There is a reason why he got overnight stardom by playing healer...
Agreed, he needs to choose his script and project team properly. All of his recent drama doesn't show any improvement…
Even though his character in lovestruck irritated me, his acting was really good and his comic timing improved exponentially... So he did show a lot of improvement in the acting department... Since he has a lot of charm and is very good looking he don't need to put much effort to play cool characters but he needs to put extra efforts to play characters that dont have the cool factor or charm like BR or lovestruck...
Also how is it gonna be BL when the king is physically attracted to a woman?

It's like comparing two dramas that are of completely opposite genre...
The others might be mocking startup...
