startup had more inconsistencies, plot holes, loose ends, weird turn of directions for characters than totnt... at the end totnt is a fantasy which gives the makers much more creative liberty and can be as much unrealistic as they want... on the other hand startup is set in a real world but their business world was more of a fantasy than the world of gumihos and imoogis and dieties... hjp was anything but a jerk... he was the most well written and well acted character in startup... he was a flawed character played flawlessly by kim seon ho... its not his fault if the main leads had lousy writing and majority of the audience couldnt connect to their character or their 'destined love story'... lee rang did evil things and he had to pay for it right after he started getting love... the makers made him pay for his actions in a very non-violent and more effective way... on the other hand startup just brushed off dosan's obsession with dalmi and romanticized it...
the thing is totnt managed to make majority of the viewers sympathize with a character so flawed like lee rang but start up couldnt make a major chunk of audience like its male lead... this shows how much the makers of startup screwed up the character of dosan...
i have watched both totnt and startup... startup is no way better than totnt... totnt wasnt a perfect drama but it still maintained a better standard throughout its run than startup... totnt even managed to make the audience like a semi-villian like lee rang and feel sympathetic to him even though he was extremely immature and his miseries were his own doing... startup couldn't even make majority of the viewers root for the male lead... totnt managed to get slightly higher rating than startup at 10:30pm on weekdays and it was not available on netflix either... still it managed to do better than startup... totnt's genre was fantasy but startup managed to show more unrealistic things than totnt...

Not really, he experienced love after all and he lived for 600 years....he was a very complex character i cried…
the entire first half of the drama emphasized on his feelings and he got the best scenes and the best deal in the drama... he even had a spin off of 3 episodes solely dedicated to him... he killed people just for fun and helped in bringing back imoogi just because he was emotionally immature and wanted attention from his brother... after everything he ended up having people who love him and care for him apart from his brother who literally gave a blind eye to all the evil things he did and still loved him... none of his personal sufferings justify all the things he did until he realised his brother loved him all along... his death was one of the most obvious things in the drama and they atleast gave him such an emotional and deep ending scene...
