I find most of the hyped kdramas boring... The only excepts are goblin and swdbs and that has to do with the cast and their acting rather than the overall storyline... The central romance of goblin was boring but everything else were top notch... Esp goblin and grim reaper...I dropped dots, love in the moonlight, lotbs and lot more popular kdramas...
Wlfkbj has below average acting and an average storyline.. the only thing I found different was that the ML was very supportive of the FL and her career and liked her just the way she is which was rare in dramas of that time... In the relationship the FL had the upper hand..

With that hairstyle he looks so much like exo suho... He is making me miss suho even more...
He has such amazing smile and laugh... He speaks really well and gives credit to everyone...

I watched wlfkbj back in 2017 and still don't get the buzz around it... Sure it had some really hilarious scenes and a decent non-arrogant male lead but after a couple of episodes its a drag fest... Wlfkbj is among the dramas i finished watching just for the sake of it...
I watched that drama without knowing the ML or FL...

So true... The entire first episode was completely based on hjp and dalmi's childhood... Everyone started liking him from the first ep itself... Untill ep 5-6 most of the audience were fine with dosan as well including me but then don't know what happened... Everything came crumbling down... Dosan started being rude to hjp just because of dalmi when hjp was trying to be nice to him... I remember how hjp was trying to have a normal conversation with dosan and when he took one of dosan's candy he just right out started behaving like hjp took his toy or something... That was such an out of character behaviour from living Buddha...

Also when hjp started being popular instead of giving more depth to dosan and dodal relationhsip, the makers simply reduced the screentime of hjp and put forceful dodal scenes out of the blue... In all this dalmi's character suffered...

I am pretty sure the letters were swept under the rug because the makers didn't want to show more hjp-dalmi scenes...

The pinkvilla site might have even more considering the population of India and pinkvilla is a famous bwood gossip site...

The ratings settle only after the drama finish airing... I remember record of youth maintaining an 8.5 rating throught out it's run and then dropping to 7.6 in minutes after the last episode

A poll in an Indian site which was about who is the favorite character with all the 4 of them and hjp still won with a 70+ voting... That poll wasn't even about dodal vs jidal or dosan vs hjp... It was just about who the fav character is and hjp won win a huge margin...

It will still be a 7 to me... Nothing will change for me as this drama has too many loopholes and illogical scenes by now... No matter what happens in the last 2 episodes it cannot be changed

I was 99% sure who the ML was and I am fully prepared for the Endgame as well but I still don't like the story of the drama...
I only started watching this to know what is all the fuzz about the show...

Popularity of an actor only helps in the initial pull of the show and only makes audience watching the first 2 episodes... If the story is not good then everyone will drop it... A good example will be melting me softly... Ji chang wook can only bring the initial pull with his star power but it's the story that makes the audience stay... It's the same for Njh and Suzy... They can only bring in the audience for the initial episodes and start up didn't had any increase in rating and is still in 4-5% rating which is quite avg for a prime time weekend show... Even tale of the nine tailed which airs at 10.30 on weekdays have 5+% rating and that drama only has Lee dong wook.. the writer is new and the director is also not very famous and the rest of the cast are also not crowd pullers..
Extraordinary you had new comers in it with no star power but managed to gain immense popularity domestically and internationally due to its good direction and script writing esp in the first half... 18 again is considered to be among the best dramas of this year and don't have a single hallyu star in it... Infact Lee do Hyun is getting noticed for his acting in that drama...
The writer and director plays a bigger role at making the audience stay for the drama...
If this drama didn't create buzz because of the fanwar and team dosan vs team hjp then it would have had a silent run like record of youth.. the story is more flawed and has more loooholes than record of youth...

Even though many started watching it because of Njh or Suzy or the writer a lot of people stayed for him and he overshadowed everything else in the drama with his flawless acting( thanks to the lousy writing and too much plot holes and under developed main lead characters)...
He got signed as a second lead but his character became more popular than the male lead...
I would say he was lucky to get cast in a drama with a meaty role by a well known writer and director rather than saying he is lucky to be cast along with Suzy and Njh... He already worked with much more established actors like jo Jung suk, moon geun young and has a very successful theater career...

So true... He is always on point with his expressions and he was this good even in strongest deliveryman which is his 2nd drama...
He was already well polished before he started doing dramas... No wonder he already had a successful theater career...
To top it he has the good looks that is needed in kdramas... Dimples are always a weakness for everyone...

Just to see kim seon ho portraying hjp flawlessly...

I am talking about the dialogue and not the entire movie...
Also even in the movie he destroys the villian and kill the villian along with himself... He got want he wanted and that was taking away everything the villian took away from his family... At the end kajol was crying for srk more than her father... That guy didn't even get the sympathy of his own daughter ...

They make changes in the script but I don't think they will change the lead pairing... When hjp- become popular instead of giving more hjp-dalmi scenes they reduced his screentime and added more dodal scenes...
In this case I think the changes were to sideline hjp- as much as possible

There is this famous dialogue said by shahrukh khan in a bollywood movie called Baazigar

'haarke jeetne walo ko Baazigar kehte hai' ( the one who wins even after loosing is called a baazigar)

Hjp/ksh is the Baazigar of startup... He might end up not getting the girl but he managed to make majortiy of the audience fall in love with him... Kim seon ho might be the second lead but he gained the most from the drama and literally overshadowed everyone else...

The only change they did after hjp- become popular is decreasing his screen time and writing random scenes of dodal to make audience like them more...
Kdramas have a fixed male lead and female lead... They won't chance that no matter how popular second leads get... The makers sign contracts with the actor's agency..
