The FL's dead-ness is quite relatable and amusing, but the rest feel like character archetypes rather than actual people. The A student with non-existent EQ, funny and overly eager guy, gossipy and over-dramatic girl. They come across as high school students on an internship. I know it's meant to be a growth story but I can't help but already feel disappointed.
The story is quite far fetched, but it's entertaining nonetheless. While the FL is the flashy character here, it's actually the ML who's the more intriguing (and intelligent) psychopath.
Extremely well done so far and shaping up to be among the top dramas in this genre. After the realistic and impactful backstory of FL and her mom, it took a while for me to warm up to the leads' romance at first (it was just too fantasy-like). But it soon became a genuine and heartwarming relationship involving sacrifice and parenthood. It is also very much a female-centric drama with a lot of social commentary on discrimination, Asian/korean family values and how they lead to the struggles of women to this day.
He barely makes any presence in E1, he has major role in later 3 eps, maybe those eps will change ur mind abt…
Just finished the 4 episodes and to my surprise, he quickly grew out of his stiff awkward phase (since many years pass in a single episode). I think his character growth is very well done now.
Great first episode, but I'm a little disappointed that Park Bogum's character is similar to Choi Taek from Reply 1988. That character worked well as the awkward innocent guy in a group of chaotic friends, but it's coming off as uninteresting for a male lead. I'll see if the show makes me change my mind later on.
Hmm... I'm not feeling this one. It is overdramatic, filmed like something from 2013 and music not well placed. I was expecting better from the trailers. It definitely takes a comptetent production team to film serious political thrillers.
The new synopsis from articles says the FL is a victim of a (murder?) case that the ML is investigating. It's a little sad that they will likely not have much, if any, screentime together.
Edit: Oops, I think she's a suspect in the case, not a victim. That makes more sense lol
There are a lot of cliches in this story, but they don't come off as cringey which is a plus. The ML is an unrealistically perfect guy but it works here. I loved watching FL realizing her feelings towards him, Han Jimin is great. Unfortunately the childhood backstory is probably gonna result in some overly dramatic event in their relationship, but if the leads handle it maturely it can be well done.
I'm enjoying this show but the subtle glorifying of headhunting is quite funny to me. Or it might be a difference of cultures, because most people around me don't think highly of headhunters.
The CGI and "zero gravity" scenes didn't look very convincing but it's understandable. Ep 1 also felt rather messy editing and transition-wise, especially with how they randomly went from space to a 30 minute exposition of the ML's whole life story. But I guess that makes it unconventional. Will see how this goes.
I normally find scenes where a bunch of women fawn over a guy's looks eyeroll-inducing. But I'm not gonna lie, it works here because Lee Joonhyuk's face is simply too gorgeous lol. Pretty good first episode.
Edit: Oops, I think she's a suspect in the case, not a victim. That makes more sense lol
