We're really never going to see eye to eye on this lol.

Not on Jiheng and not on Dijun. I've already explained why I pity Jiheng. I don't think I can say anymore and I'm not really here to convince you that she's not an evil character.

I'm just gonna make one last reply in regard to Dijun. I don't buy the shit that the author is selling us. It's not like the only way that they can be together is to deceive her? What, somehow changing her memories is a better idea than good old confession? Why not pour his heart out and explain to her sincerely why he chose to give Jiheng the Saha fruit? It's not like Fengjiu is hard to be convinced. No. He did not deceive her to save her or whatever fate they have left. He duped her because he can. The same way he did not transform fully to a kerchief like he made her believed, he's used to doing things his way. Why confront the issue when he can avoid it, right? Ha, he's shameless alright.

Truth is, he's not out of choices and yet he chose the worst one. And by choosing to deceive her, he's the one who cut their red string of fate. Ironic, huh? Life's funny that way. And in the end, he got his retribution: 200 years of losing Fengjiu.

And let me return your question to you: Why does the intention of Dijun absolves him of his deception but not Jiheng? And why is it an issue that they glossed up Jiheng's character in the drama but it's a nonissue when it's Dijun?

Anyway, this has been long. It was not my intention to convince you... well, out of anything. This is going to be my last reply. It was nice speaking with you. :)

Haha, I did. She begged YCW to take her away from Fanyin Valley. She then sought death and dangled in front of DJ her father's claw. Blah, blah, we both know what happened.

I guess, we just need to agree to disagree. We have very different notion of what is evil. You think she is one; I think she's not. She made many desperate, wrongful actions and her way of pursuing love is a massive character flaw but I refuse to define her as evil.

How is DJ NOT whitewashed? You mean you don't think that he and his unscrupulous way of obtaining Fengjiu's trust not being translated into the drama is not a problem? His habit of deceiving her instead of resolving the misunderstanding - gone in the drama. Instead, he is the ever benevolent god who's more than willing to sacrifice his life for his love. If you ask me, Dijun doesn't deserve Fengjiu.

So I don't know who this SuJin is cause I haven't read the prequel to Pillow Book and nor will I watch Eternal Love (I already had difficulty finishing this Eternal Love of Dream) so I can't really make a comparison.

Just that, I don't agree with you characterizing JH as an evil person. She has a skewed concept of love, believing if she cannot possess this person then no one else can. That is all sorts of wrong but that does not make her evil. I do agree though that she was not at all redeemed but that was really up to the author. And I don't think the latter is at all interested in redeeming anyone.

To be honest, if there is anyone whitewashed in the drama, it was DJ.

And since you've seen the drama, did I just miss an episode or did they not show the bit when the evil mother visited Aranya in prison?

Ok, it must have been long since I read the novel because I don't remember it the way you do.

From what I remember, JiHeng recognizes that she is being unreasonable for still wanting to chase DiJun despite the fact that she knows he loves someone else. Minsu's gender has nothing to do with her embarrassment. Again, from what I remember lol.

And while I agree that that she does have a bad habit of chasing people she cannot have, you can say the same to Yan Chi Wu. Hell, you can even say the same to Fengjiu! The only difference is that FJ knows when to stop. And can we really fault JH for not falling in love with YCW? Cheesy as it may sound, the heart wants what it wants.

And JiHeng never really liked DiJun at first. She felt indebted to him, not only because he saved her life but also gave her a chance with Minsu. Not until she fell into Fanyin Valley and had a chance to serve him that her gratitude turned into love. It really only turned into an obsession because she felt that ONLY she deserves DJ's affections. That's what push her into confronting FJ and begging DJ to divorce her.

Lastly, YCW and FJ thinking DJ and JH loved each other was a misunderstanding on their part. They thought DiJun and JiHeng has feelings for each other only because they once were betrothed. They didn't know that the whole engagement is a sham.

We might have read the same novel but I think we saw them differently. Or it might be just my poor memory XD

I don't remember Jiheng ever feeling humiliated because the one she loved turned out to be a woman? While she tried to break up Dijun and Xiaobai's relationship and that is wrong in so many ways, I wouldn't call her an evil character.

I think she is a very pitiful woman. One who does not know when to stop. It was the case then with Minsu and it's the same case now with Dijun. Remember, in her eyes, no one loves Dijun as much as she does. She does not know Fengjiu's pining for 2000 yrs. Only that she, herself, love Dijun for 200 years. So she can't understand why he would reciprocate Fengjiu's love when they only met for a year. A year against 2 centuries, of course she would feel hurt. Of course, she would feel that it's unfair. But love has no reason. And if only she realized that early on, she could have saved herself from a world of hurt.

Your quote of Mikoto totally resonates with me. I still have big goals but I realized I don't have to hit the ground running like I did in my 20s. I'm trying to define my own success and not measure it by comparing myself to others.

Lol I thought when I was in my early 20s that come 30, I'll have it all figured out. I was young and naive then :P

I'm still struggling at some things but I'm much calmer now. I realized I don't have to figure life out. That it's ok to be confused and scared and I can take it one day at a time.

Be Melodramatic sounds great! I'll watch it soon.

Love! Love! Love This drama. The Pillow book is the best 2020 drama. It´s better than " Ten miles of Peach Blossoms"…
To put it simply, Dong Hua just don't give a f*k. :P You can practically count in one hand the things/people he care about and power is just not one of it.

In the book, he passed all his responsibilities to Tianjun/Heavenly King save for 2 things: guarding the Miaoyi Huiming Realm (which, if not stabilised/purified, can end the world as they know it) and granting titles to fairies. Aside from those, he couldn't care less. He's so indifferent he didn't even participate in the war with the ghouls.

But even though he is no longer the ruler, the fact still remains that he is once the master of the universe so of course he is treated with reverence. He is, after all, a living legend.

Ten Count is AMAZING.
It is to be savored indeed. But I'm not too sure about a live action. The manga is controversial enough. If it was to be consumed via a film, it can get VERY uncomfortable and might send a wrong message to its consumer. I don't know what part you are at now but it was obvious from the start that it has dark undertones. And it can be pitch black dark at times.

Congratulations on your first article!

I wish I could add some something to the topic but I'm not into Kdramas right now lol. Someday or One Day sounds interesting tho. I've added it to my PTW list :)

I've heard A LOT about xman, I've also seen super junior's cuts, heechul was always a savage xDI did briefly watch…
SJ has always been entertaining and Dangyunhaji ("Of course") game is made for savage Heechul. God, I miss that segment. Because of it, we now know that Haha is a pathetic playboy, KJK YEH has become a frontpage in tabloids, and Shinhwa has a lot of nonsecret secrets. XD

Running Man is a hard one to beat tbh. Is there any other Kvariety show that has held multiple concerts all over Asia over the years? It simply is one of the best, if not the best.

But it was Xman that introduced me to Kvariety. This show is the most iconic - so famous that some of its game and some of its episodes are still being referenced to this day. To put its fame into context, Kim Jong Kook is still teased about Yoon Eun Hye - the most recognizable 'couple' the show has produced - even tho, more than a decade has passed.

Also, a bit surprised that 2D1N didn't make this list. After all, it's one of the longest running Kvariety show. Huge scandal has tarnished the 3rd season but it's still arguably their best season yet.

So I read somewhere that NTV, yet again, is holding up on the 'real' ending to be exclusively released to Hulu sooner or later - compelling us viewers to pay for a paid service just so we can have that long-awaited closure. If this is true, they did us dirty. This is not how you treat your potential customers. Either you make the whole thing available free or not.
