i mostly forgot a hell of a lot of things to add but just reading your comment made me remember one thing and that is the zombies in the train sequence at the start. the hole in their head looked way too unsettling and horrendous.

well, for what the orv fan you replied to has said, there's honestly no excuse and neither am i here to give one. but that other guy, the one i wrote my reply to has said a hell of a lot of things in this comment section before. i never actually went ahead and replied to them because of how absurd their statement was, same reason as the one due to which i didn't reply to this orv fan either.

i only replied when they went ahead and seemed to have indirectly mentioned me. in all honesty, i was being much generous compared to them (the lee min ho fan) that i only made taunts against them and not any other person. i shouldn't have written that reply to begin with, that was honestly my mistake but what's done is done ig.

considering that you commented above the comment to which i replied, i'll go ahead and assume that you were talking about me, since i'm the only one who made such a comment recently. assumption because you didn't directly reply to me.

it's not like i showed you the mirror that you're getting so agitated i told someone to check out the original. well, if you actually want to live in delusion, i've got no problem with that. i've even got the track record to help people be in delusion as long as they themselves want to commit to it.

how beautiful of a soul you're to assume that there must only be positive comments everywhere you go and lay your eyes upon. learn to understand that fictional media will always get criticism alongside praise.

about what i liked in the film, if you had actually done some effort and read the review i wrote for this film, you would've realized that it was lee min ho's portrayal of yu junghyeok that i liked the most in this film and that was the only thing that i thought was worth looking out for in the film. but sadly, you don't have the ability to read longer things.

i admire your commitment to make me hate lee min ho, but sadly for you and other lee min ho's fans, i don't hate any person or any fictional media for that matter just because of a terrible fandom. my love and hatred are based on personal preferences and nothing else.

yeah no worries, we all have our real life to deal with too. i never finished watching it but island actually had really good cgi, so fingers crossed for solo leveling ig.

if i had honestly like waited months maybe just like you're saying i might've liked it because i would've already had forgotten most of my expectations for it by then. but then again my curiously couldn't let me wait that long for this one lol.

yeah, solo leveling director does have this film to look as a precedent, so i do hope he does good. and anyways, that one is a drama so it probably might be good considering the longer time and he can flesh the characters and story out more.

yeah, for sure, let me know when you do watch it and what you think about it. i've seen some fans who actually thought that this was kind of okay-ish film but they were ones who just knew about it recently and had seen only the hatred for it.

yes, it's based on a webnovel and that webnovel is finished. there's a manhwa adaptation of the webnovel that is still ongoing tho. there's even an anime adaptation in production too, which currently doesn't have a release date for as far as i know.

i know it has already been said before but try reading the original, you can even read the manhwa too if that's a convenient medium for you. what you just enjoyed was hardly a 10% of the original, this is just a highly watered down version and in no way represents the characters and themes presented in the original.

it's actually very possible to watch an adaptation as a different entity from its source material and you tend to enjoy it a lot more. maybe because i've been waiting for orv la from the moment its first trailer dropped that i couldn't actually disassociate my expectations from that time. i still remember defending the director's decision of the inclusion of guns at that time. i told novel fans that it might still be good and we should still have hope, i even had somewhat of an argument at that time lol.

maybe if i had gotten to know about it's existence much later down the line (something like 1 or 2 years after it's release) and my only info about it was that most of the orv fans consider it to be a really terrible adaptation, then i might've actually liked it a lot more and i'm actually pretty sure about that because that has happened before but then again i wouldn't have called it a masterpiece in that case either, at most a semi-decent adaptation that i might've rated a 6-7 stars.

if i were to look at it as a standalone film right now, i could bump up the rating to a 4-5 stars at most but then again i didn't really enjoy this film a lot to even decide to do that.

and you can rate it whatever you desire, you've your own system and ways to rate, i got my own. it's not like i rate based on critical evaluation all the time either, most of my ratings are based on personal enjoyment too.

anime adaptation will honestly be better than this as long as we don't get a studio like the one that animated tbate to work on this. i already know it won't get as good treatment as something like lotm and in all honesty, i could suffice with animation like solo leveling too. and obviously there are going to be problems and it's not going to be a perfect adaptation. the only reason i recently got into reading the webnovel of it too is because of fans calling the manhwa adaptation as lacking in some aspects.

anyway, i do hope you like it somewhat. i actually watched it thinking that it couldn't be as bad as it's getting bashed for, but all i got from watching it was a terrible headache and that mess of a thought train that i poured all in the review lol. peace <3

just wanna let yknow that the only reason One Piece actually got a good live action adaptation is cause the original creator of the manga One Piece (Eiichiro Oda) was actually overseeing the whole process and everything had to go through him before being incorporated in the live action series. otherwise, netflix is pretty infamous for making terrible live action adaptations of animanga especially the shounen and fantasy ones.

edit: the showrunners are also like big one piece fans as far as i am aware, so that might've had some impact on the outcome as well.

the otaku term i used was basically to give an umbrella term for all the orv fans. i didn't want to use two different terms like novel and manhwa fans lol, it wasn't specifically directed toward you in this case.

as far as my observation of this platform's userbase goes, they usually seem to care more about an actor or idol's scandal, it's more like a fan club for them than any drama/film community. if it involves unfairness to their favs, they would do the same thing as you, spam 1-star reviews without caring much about the actual film/drama and maybe even much worse imo. the only reason they seem to have a problem with you is because you're not one of the usual for them, most otakus don't really visit this site. if you were an actor or idol fan, they wouldn't have reported you for spamming that's for sure.

this is a very different genre compared to those two, it's more of a high fantasy concept, maybe closer to lotr imo.

go ahead and watch it. have your own opinion about it. call it a masterpiece film if you just seem to like it that much. just a suggestion, not like i can actually force you to adhere to it but don't go ahead and be like some users who start claiming that novel fans are overreacting and it's actually very good. if you've actually read the original, then you can go ahead and even do that but yeah that's just my opinion about this.

it's not like i took it personally, just the amount of interactions it actually took to get myself blocked was what made this whole scenario unique enough for me to share.

look up plato's allegory of the cave, you'll get somewhat of an understanding of why you do seem to think that it's not that bad. i'm not disregarding your opinion about it or anything but the way you're calling the response from fans of the original an overreaction does seem weird to me especially since you're judging it as a standalone film and not as an adaptation.
